  • I get the feeling most people watching this are students aha? same here guys, same here.

  • To the spectator's despair Torvald only mutters to himself and doesn't speak as comprehensibly as he should! What on Earth was wrong with him?

  • The world is too small...

Reading this for English and randomly thought to look it up on Youtube and I find Christopher Plummer? -___-

Woahh his moustache.... XD Loved his performance in Sound of Music though!!! :)

  • I'm dr Rank! =D

  • he´s soooooooo handsome! A gentleman like Christopher is a rare sight today...

  • One of those little boys at the beginning is Richard Thomas, who would grow up to play John Boy Walton. Can't tell which one though.

  • @zigfried64 I think its the taller boy. It looked like he had a birthmark on his cheek,

  • @zigfried64 Richard Thomas must be the slightly taller boy without a hat. I think I see the birthmark on his cheek.

I wonder if he remembers anything about Julie Harris today...

  • oh my.. i nid subtitles.. i cant catch up on wad they're saying.. too fast for mi..

  • i had to read this in my philosophy and ethics class junior year in highschool, i graduated 2 years ago, but this is great play :)

  • sweet! i was really looking for this, so thanks for posting!

  • this is the only good book that I had to read in my entire humanites class.

  • Whow! Chris Plummber was REALLY young. You think he's young in Sound of Music, just look at 'em here! Not an insult, but don't you think he looks better without a moustache?

  • Thanks for the post, I'm doing a paper for my Film/Novel class.

  • I'm playing Krogstad right now in my drama class. It's interesting to see this. 8)

  • Thanks for posting!

  • OMG! Thank You for posting this!!!

  • ooh! finally! the original version! im playing mr. rank LOL

  • is this exactly like the book?

  • Quite exactly. James Costigan's adaptation is highly faithful to Ibsen's play. Of course it is not a totally verbatim adaptation, and some of the play's textual passages are shortened and/or a bit simplified (but probably you can notice that only if you have your eyes on the book while watching the movie). I find that in general Costigan tends to play the dramatic climaxes down a bit too much.

  • musta been a lot of pessure, to do an entire play on national tv

  • Yes, they were under great pressure. It appears that, in order to relax, the cast had a party the night before. And Chris and his friend Jason Robards (Doctor Rank) got so drunk that they didn't get up on time and arrived very late and in a bad state for the general rehearsal. After all, he was still a puppy of 29.

  • yeah the cast of TSOM said that he stayed up partying in the hotel they were staying at and he'd get mad when they wanted to go to bed at 2 in the morn lol always thought that was funny. and he stilled pulled off great performances lol
