so can u just use characters that are provited for you like Elfs and stuff or can u create an original character like a nomral cat but with human trates like speach and fighting skills? sorry somtimes i cant remeber from long vids lol.
dude nice work on these vidz but one thing ilike the chaacter sheets there eay for me and my cousin to ead real quick and easy but everyone has there own ideas so if you dont like it its k i like others ideas and opions
If it isn't 1st or 2nd edition Dungeons and Dragons............, it's a lost cause. The 1st and 2nd edition IS the essence of the game. 3rd and 4th are just dummied up for kids that don't want to (or can't be) good readers. In other words........less intelligent people play 3rd and 4th. lol thank you thank you........i'll be here all week.
@hanshideout WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!! YOU PLAY D&D. YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN!!!??? IF I WAS CAUGHT PLAYING D&D IN MY DAD'S CHRISTIAN HOUSEHOLD IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BURNED!!!!! How dare you belittle my anguish under militant Christian practices when you display this hypocrisy.
If you want to piss your DM off; find a logical point in your game at which you could bring in or turn one of your characters that's monk into a vampire. h2h attacks with level drain!! SO cheap!
I had... no idea how to fill out the character sheet that came with the game. I was so lost. It took be 2 hours to make a character trying to figure out what it all meant ;_;
I was in the process of creating my first character last night, but once it came to the ability scores, I just got lost. Had no idea what to do... lol
I am, actually. It's just taken a while because I've been enjoying the great weather we've been having and trying to get outside before it snows again. :(
I actually filmed a new episode a little while ago, but I kind of did it in a hurry and I really wasn't pleased with it. So expect a new one soon!
Hey, I LIKE the naked in a dungeon beginning. Especially when we were in that one campaign hanging naked from a ceiling. There's some interesting things that can be done with that one.
I love it when it's done right. Because it's just like "okay, we need to find some clothes before I like this" and trying to find weapons and junk. It's fun. :D
You can like it all you want, and that's fine, but it is the ultimate DM cop-out. It forces the players into a dungeon right off the bat without any setup, and forces the players to work together without giving them any reason to besides surviving.
It's just lazy storytelling. It's fine for doorcrashing I guess, but that's not really what I'm going for in these videos.
By "being done right" I'm implying a setup. Having a plot to discover, having the equipment sets already bought but found in an armory, etc...A flexible DM can make it work with a good setup.
And forcing the players to work together despite their character's personalities is a good thing, I would figure. Survival's a plenty good reason for people to work together, and helps build people's characters FOR the game.
Also, "the inn" is the worst copout. :P That's much more common and annoying.
Forcing the players to work together is really bad DMing. If the party was built right, the players should -want- to work together. If their characters don't want to be together in the first place, that's a failure on the DM's part; he should have overlooked character creation better.
If the characters do work together, then the DM should be able to put together a decent enough reason for them to start adventuring. They shouldn't have to resort to the old "dungeon" cliche. Lazy storytelling.
I used to DM for my friends back when I was like 14; it was fun. I remember trying so hard to make the game as real as possible, and being a good storyteller was a big part.
Sometimes I would try and push the group in a certain direction but I always gave them options.
I found the smoothest adventure we played to be one of the pre-made ones that I just tweaked here and there; unfortunately the rest of that campaign never came to fruition.
I like this one a lot! I really can't wait until this whole series is done. :D
My only suggestion at this point would be to try and slow down your speech at parts. We all speak pretty fast anyway, but there are definitely areas in this one where it sometimes feel like you rush through to move on to something.
DO MORE FFS!

I can only say: I agree with you on those "fucking pieces of garbage" that are the character sheets.

With regards to the fast speaking, if you have something worth saying, spread it over two videos.
If it's interesting and informative, most people won't mind watching another 5 or even 10 minutes. Really my only criticism, great videos!

Yeah, it can be used right, but a lot of times it just comes off as a cliche.
I've played in three D&D games where the whole thing started in a dungeon with no equipment.

It can also be unfair to the players, as there are often some characters who by their very design are more dependent on their equipment than others.

In the end, all I'm saying is that you can make it work, with proper planning.

Yeah, the problem with that is that I have a 10-minute limit on the videos, and I tend to talk at length, so I have to talk fast to compensate.
