get the firmware from felixbruns(.)de(/)iPod(/)firmw­are(/)

remove the brackets, then select

"iPod touch 1G (2.2.1/5H11)"

from the second dropdown box, then it will download the .zip version of the firmware from Apple. Rename it from .zip to .ipsw then do the steps as normal.
