If they had a YouTube Oscar Award, you would sure be in the running - This was a great video, SSanf - Thanks so much for taking the time to shoot, edit, narrate and share this with the rest of us.
Do you can and jar your fruits and vegetables?, I've been interested in starting a garden of that magnitude for some time as the cost of grocery bought products is through the roof where I live, Any tips?
Yes, I do. I scored almost three bushels of free apples and pears from trees no one wanted to bother picking and I am up to my ears in canning right now. Once you invest in the jars, every year after that your fruit is the cost of a bit of sugar to make the syrup. My little peach tree gave me 151 peaches and it is only 3 years old! And, I have more raspberries than I can possible eat this year. You know what they all cost. My best tip is just do it!
That was real sweet. I'm working on my garden at the moment. It's looking great and you've given me a lot of inspiration to plant stuff to eat. Great vid. Look forward to more.
Thank you for the kind comment. Since it is so early in the season and many plants are still in the germination stage, it doesn't look like all that much. But, I can show you later when things are grown in how much it can produce. You will be totally amazed at how much food is produced by just those boxes and some collected pots and buckets. Once they start producing, some plants just don't stop until they freeze.
Good luck and best wishes for a bountiful harvest!
Yes! It really is a money saver for me. And, I am certain that I do eat better.
It has taken a while to develop. I have had to find and invent space. What really convinced me to use pots and buckets was one year I had a single lovely bean plant in a bucket and I just kept getting more and more beans off it as I picked them. Anyway, I thought that was a pretty good return for one seed, some dirt in a bucket and some water. So, me being me, I thought if I do twice as many, I will twice as much!
LOL!! Tommy, you are a hoot! Thanks for watching my very first video with the camera I got for Mother's Day. This opens up possibilities. Now, I can be one of the cool kids, too!
@AbbaTheHut Indeed, I do.
