  • thank you so much for this information!

  • I use Apple Pro Res422 HQ all the time and I see the LT listed in the menu list but never used it. What is the LT version for?

  • Just saw this! Awesome Chip. But what if you are editing off of FCP 5.1.4? I assume Prores 422 won't work unless you have FCP 6... Still 1280x720 - exporting to Youtube/Vimeo.

  • @whoismarlo Yes, you need FCP 6 or higher with this workflow.

  • @chipperd this is so....shameful, man.

everybody's saying how great it is working on a mac, while you dont need all this extra encoding on mpeg streamclip when u work on a PC. u just import the footage. BAM! done deal.

I see there are Sucha hassles with working on a Mac..incompatibilities..problems & such..

So it makes me wonder Why why Why is everyone praising it? maybe its cause they wasted all this amount of money for a mac-so they gotta act like it was worth it?

    please prove me wrong

  • Why not just use the Apple MPEG4 compressor shown @01:34 second option under the Apple Motion JPEG A standard option. If you are exporting with the intent of uploading it to Youtube that saves you time and space.

Or better yet in the H.264 section the Apple DVCPRO HD 1080p30 is shown. Thats the full HD format that Youtube uses just in the Apple Quicktime MOV format. Its takes the H.264 codec in the MPEG4 format and vraps it in a MOV format container. Exporting to MPEG4 saves you time and space.

  • Thanks man, nicely done.

  • hey very helpful video, thank you so much.

quick question. Why do some people say use PRORES and others say XDCAM? also what's the difference between LT and not LT?

    cheers.

  • Thank you. v.helpful.

  • thanks for saving my ass

  • Thank you so much guy!

  • I assume it is just because of what he plans to do with the video. If its just going up on the web it doesn't have to be 1920 x 1080. On a side note, after going through all the headaches of H.264 in FCP 7 and finally switching to Prores 422 (LT), this workflow works SO much better than just dumping your 5DM2 files into your sequence. I have to agree with everything you do here. I wish I would have found this video a week ago.

  • @atlantajay Glad you found it now. I know a lot of people who comment and say the same thing. Cheers and best wishes with your work.

  • I would also like to know why you didn't use 1920 x 1080?

  • Thanks for the tut. But being a canon 5D II user, does it matter which frame size you select after choosing apple proress 422?

    Any reason why you chose 1280 x 720 and not 1920 x 1080?

  • @akpevbe I don't adjust the frame rate. YouTube now supports 1080i so I just leave it.

  • Thanks
