  • Dont Bogart that joint my friend. Take a hit and pass it on.

  • hahaha Wavy Gravy snorting some white at 2:16!!!!!!!!! Crazy Clown

  • Is it me or does he look like Scotty McCreery?

  • God, I wish i was born in this generation. I have no idea why but i am in love with the lady at 1.56. The look she gives the camera man is so innocent and you would think she was handing him/her something AMAZING from the peaceful, content look on her face.

  • it's too bad that people can no longer come together for a peaceful reason anymore. to just sit around and enjoy where you are instead of worrying about where your going to be.

  • I wish I would live and die in woodstock era and property

  • Was lucky to see him in concert years ago....AWESOME!!!

  • LET'S GO GET STONED

  • I remember sitting in the crowd at Woodstock and when the wine bottles were being passed around, wondering if there was any acid in the wine.

  • Sharing FTW

  • too many aluminum pipes

  • one thing you gotta say about tokers ... they are so creative! ha ha ha ha ha

  • 1:50 1:56 same woman

  • @SeattleLA Pass the doobe, here comes the wine, wow, followed by some hash. Here comes another joint followed by some tablets of ? Well for the next 8 hours , nobody cared, pass the doobe- had enough? Here you toke on this, can't take another hit, I'm wasted! Far out man

  • @trimphbsa What's a "doobe", dude ?... I'm french and even though my english isn't TOO bad, I've never seen or eared this word before. Looked at translation on the net and only find 'doobe" as a translation in french of "doobe" ! :-) Could you explain please ?... might be useful for my next trip in America, you never know what you can find on your road ! Thanks, man !

  • @misspetedoherty A doobie is a joint. What we called marijuana cigarettes back in the day.

  • It is a good thing Woodstock was not located in Maricopa County Arizona... Sheriff Joe Ar-pie-asshole would have all the good people in attendance badly beaten, tied up, hosed down, outfitted with pink jail clothes, and living outside in his evil Tent City; for no good reason other than some group of bad cops got bored and stupid and wanted to "start somthin' "...

  • We really thought as a generation that we could change the destiny of america. Make love, not war, that's what the '60's were all about man. We weren't trying to overthrow the government, we were trying to open up the hearts of the people in charge, and now it's all about the slow capitulation, the slow death, and giving in to the powers that be. So, you know what i say? Enjoy it, drink lots of beer like i do and get wasted watching george carlin. You can't change how the world works. Accept it.

  • @A1943CRAZYMAN No!! You did change things. Then they figured out how to get around it. We'll change things again, we're just in a down cycle :-)

  • fire it up.

  • Like wow man

  • 2:26 Who are those four guys with the bottle? I feel as if I should know them...

  • @sirthomasbarbados Yeah, mee too.

At first I thought they were the guys of Lovin' Spoonful, but.. naaaah.... LS woulda just ratted the entire Woodstock out for marijuana use

  • Classic.

  • There were no official report of a birth at woodstock. Supposedly there was one but it was not put on the county records.

  • @wavygr 1.5 million people? its more than likely.

  • 02:34 jim morrison

  • Lots of the older folks at that time were all trying to slam the fest, saying that Oh all those damn hippies the fest was going to be a disaster and blah blah blah. Hell, they sure showed them. No fights, no BS. Could never happen again. Tried to pull a fest like this today, people would be fighting wrecking shit just like at that 99 Woodstock. It was so beautiful then. People were too fucked up on drugs to start shit. today they'd be too high and then feel their oats and start shit.

  • @acdcbonluver97 Well here in Canada, in Nova Scotia, theres an Evolve festival, its kinda the same thing, but more modern. Not pop music, but more like indie artists, stuff like that. And at night everyones baked and has a tribe dance around a fire with djembes and stuff haha fuun. I'm goin this year

  • @MooneYoungBlood That sounds cool. As long as people can get along there. Music unites everyone and brings them together.

  • @acdcbonluver97 There was a love and peace movement. Music came from that.

  • @sibkiss2009 Yep

  • Only 3 dead? U Would think more with the LSD.

  • This is an 'ICONIC' clip of arlo guthrie at woodstock, the guy looked & sounded the business!

  • Remember that the drugs weren't nearly as strong in 1969, and people did them back then in more of a peaceful protest.

  • @diskman3001 Well, not the pot. But the LSD... thats a different story haha Thats when acid was at its most produced and potent point. Nowdays, acid is in shorter supply and less potent. Weed is the other way around today haha

  • 3 deaths and one birth to be precise

  • @owells63 Two deaths. One run over by a tractor in a field. One drug overdose. Two births reported. Maybe more but just two that were reported.

  • Bringing more then a couple keys can't get away with it now days back in the 60's you could bring anything from anywhere Those were the days

  • rappin' to the fuzz

    Can you dig that?

  • i've seen this part of the movie so often, that i actually started laughing like him!

  • @bubbly92c what movie! :O

  • @tekawaman the movie "three days of peace and music" ... about woodstock ^-^ i bought it and fell in love with this song and arlo guthries laugh! xD

  • @bubbly92c awesome thanks :D

  • Can't get over how the uploader can be so wise on one hand and so utterly fucking stupid/predatory for advertising that bogus "Apple" scheme.

  • @KeeganAlexander88 couldn't agree more, I thought I'd removed it ages ago ;-)

  • those tinfoil pipes are gonna give y'all alzheimer's

  • yea. a song what brught me to flower children, though id never be one. im a kid of eastern block nineties. and believe or not it was similar to american sixties. in a way. even softer and more peace. actually only the first 4 or 5 years.

  • une très belle découverte que j'ai faite il y a peu de temps. Je ne connaissais pas du tout mais désormais, je suis totalement "amoureuse" de cette chanson.

  • @TheLilith59aow Could you translate that for me?

  • @goodthing52 No soucy : the traduction is : A very beautiful discovery that? I made not long ago. I knew in no way but henceforth, I am totally "loving" of this song

  • @TheLilith59aow Merci Merci, Thank you

  • @spartank17

    Not the 70's bro

  • I LOVE hearing people talk about Woodstock in the terms of how big it "might" get, like when Arlo says, "I don't know how many of you can dig how many ppl are here, man...."

  • Peace,love and harmony. That's what it's all about!

  • Now a days people are to greedy to pass their shit. -__-

  • @MIAPBALLER true haha

  • @MIAPBALLER thats just not true!! it was made to share! thats part of the experience

  • @MIAPBALLER

its not that they're to greedy, its that it costs a lot more money today. Back then giving someone a joint was like giving someone a nickle. Today a joint is like 5 bucks worth of marijuana.

  • such beautiful memories, thanx xxo

  • I wonder how many people saw this video and realized that was their mom or dad smoking a jay.

  • @chrishirschfeld ha ha

  • Lotta Freaks, Haha

  • Legen....Dary !!

  • :20 oh he was so adorable!

  • god damn think of all the mids that was smoked at woodstock, they deff didn't have anything that stands up to our shit nowadays.

  • @6Cully You probably never smoked a Thai stick or weed from Nam. Just as good.

  • @6Cully dont think too much on that. Crime was really hitting just a tad below its peak, airport security wasnt as advanced so smuggling goods from other countries was way easier then it is now. Besides getting high no matter what it was, was just as important as quality.

  • Arlo is now a Republican, i know i couldnt believe it

  • @chillin3651 yes, neither did I, but I red his official home page, Arlo.net and I did understand some of his reasons, but for the most part I was realy disappointed. The days singing about bringing in a couple of Ki's of marijuana into Los Angeles are realy over....... Somehow I think he never waves his hippie flag any more and that is a shame.

  • ya i mean im 18 so i wouldnt classify myself as a hippie, i embrace the value system but the term hippie was coined for a generation, none the less arlo was still great and still is a saw him the other day where i live and he still looks the part but i dont know i guess his mind set just changed its unfortunate but o well, Keep it real

  • lotta freaks!

  • I wonder if you got half a million right wing tea party NRA conservatives together for 3 days if there would be that few casualties...? Maybe we should ask Norway.

  • 70's EPIC

  • I think I just got second hand high from the video

  • 3 days of peace love and "magic"

  • Woodstock: 3 days of peace, love and pot smoking!

  • W0W M0M :) QC

  • dont take brown acid...but its your trip man...

  • @plesisnjim so be my guest

  • @plesisnjim so be my guest

  • fair use :) QC

  • coming into los angeles ??? clap trap --/////-- this land is your land----- pete seeger/woody guthrie---- no comparison---

  • makes me want to go and want to dump trash off of a cliff. ( 1 big pile is better than 2 small ones).

  • @justjerame And then get arrested by officer Obie for littering? LOL

  • its sad to think that todays music was influenced by incredible stuff like this

  • its sad to think that todays music was influenced by incredible stuff like this

  • its always hard to smuggle...even throughout "borderless" europe...

  • @herrmeier84 you're right. Because 90% of the smugglers who get busted on the border, get busted after the calls from the rival smugglers.

  • @BlackCrowNavajo 90% of smugglers get busted by their own mistakes or by one of their own people.

  • @goodthing52 agree. that's pretty much what I said. after all, having a rat in your 'team' is a mistake in the first place.

  • Love the part where father is rolling a joint at 1:20 and his kid is eating an orange and not a big mac or potato chips

  • @goodthing52 haha yeah i agree It's quite sweet really!

  • isnt that far out men? kkkkk great song and a amazing musician, thanks arlo

  • i want the people appearing @1:08-2:09 to reunite for a reenactment of this sacramental moment. and be sure to invite me.

  • 1:25 Matthew Mcconaughey

  • i heard this when i was on the plane

    "coming in to los angeles"

  • just dont post dumb asses.i havent seen anything that means shit.just listen to the time and enjoy.

  • ogmg i love this version! my mom and dad told me about it when i told them i liked arlo guthriw but i just now got around to hearing it haha

  • saw him play this last night <3

  • Love this song. Still....sending it on to my son!

  • @joannaelizabethful teachin the young ones!!! me 2 !!! made some cd´s for my son, hoping he is not gettin lost in this mtv bull... ;).

  • Going from anti-war singer to right wing extremist. Good going Arlo.... :((

  • @jimji your a rascist redneck!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @intercomsec-capitalism is about greed and sefishness. We are all responsible for this!

  • don't fly air kuwait, I reckon. Peace be upon us all

  • This is a racist video. It makes Whites look like drug addicts. Take this video down!

  • @jimj122680 stfu this is the best festival ever over 500,000 people being free happy peacefull and high so what

  • @jimj122680 stfu man ur terrible at trolling

  • i AM so glad that the pot smokers are coming into their own dignified rights after all the years of relentless discrimination from the alcohol users.

  • Couple of things I never forgot from Woodstock. The kid who came up to me two oclock in the morning and asked me if I was hungry and gave me a slice of Wonderbread. It was delicious. Or the guy who told me to follow him when it started raining. Brought me back to his spot where he had a big tarp which sheltered a bunch of people. And all the people who gave me a hit from their pipe or joint and s sip of wine. The people and the music. Unforgetable.

  • did you gentlemen know you can argue with each other directly? *cough*

  • Seriously, why people have to fight is beyond me. Woodstock happened. It was groovy. I had good times during the sixties. And the Vietnam war is over. It was wrong. Capitalism sucks. never did anything for me. So I'll just follow the Tambourine Man down the road...

  • @whisperindave1 Let me forget about today until tomorrow. Im right behind you.

  • I just noticed these comments below. Dudes-smoke some weed you really need it. This comes from the time of peace and love and it is sacrilege to defile this vid. Thank you for your cooperation.

  • Mr Customs Man-you may NOT partake.

  • I don't come to youtube to find 'opponents' - I come to enjoy the music videos.

  • our country is trillions of dollars in debt due to yet again an un-winnable war. that's what you call prosperous? people living in the streets. children dying from hunger and poor health. society is too concerned with stepping on the joe in front of them to "make" something of themself. socialism is a fantastic idea in theory however it will never work in modern times. the masses are too greedy. the natives had it right all along. only take as much as necessary and give back more than you took.

  • I also love how the tards point to only 3 deaths at woodstock like that was evidence of eutopia, lol. I've been to many a concert that had "NO DEATHS". To the drug addled brain that is an impossibility. I especialy love the fucktards who call this the "Peace" generation. That is laughable as the jackass draft dodgers who now rub elbows with Obama were running around blowing shit up and rioting. They weren't for peace just for saving their own ass

  • @guruofdoodoo First of all it's Utopia. 'Tard. You weren't there. No one ever said it was Utopia. You are a Republican Tea Party ass, like the old John Birchers (Look them up, you uneducated moron.) Talking to retards like yourself, drunk on their own bile and racist "anti-communist swill" is worthless. Too bad there's no cure for what's wrong with you, because it seems to be affecting the economy. Somehow asswipes like you have a job when good, decent educated people don't. Capitalism Ha!

  • @whisperindave1 You have the nerve to call me a tard dickless? You are a typical lefty brainless bitch! Where the fuck did racism come into play? Oh I forgot all libtards call anyone who's not in there wellfare sandbox either

racist or Nazis. The funny part is that Nazi stands for "National Socialism" so they had and still have alot more in common with you. You are neither decent nor educated so go blow. As Obama and he lefty's in congress have had the reigns for 3 years nice try on the economy

  • @MsKoali Is that your strategy in every debate to tell your oponent to take a class? I've forgotten more about that time period then you will ever know. I am not "Picking" on anyone asslick! I am merely stating facts. But your group always starts a fight and then cries foul and wants someone arrested for a "Hate Crime" when they get their ass handed to them in a debate. But facts and libtards do not mix kind of like oil and water they're incompatable.

  • @guruofdoodoo You have got to be kidding me. You are an all american asshole , joke and what the hell are you doing listening to this anyway?

  • @0neuponatime I unlike you believe in "Freedom". Therefore I can listen to whatever I want. Funny how you spineless bootlickers call Americans all sorts of names then the minute shit jumps off who do you run to? And I

am talking about recent times AKA=Libia. You waste of fucking lives won't spend a dime on defense so Uncle Sam had to subsidize your national security vis a vis our smart bomb technology in the opening of that theater and did you kick in a dime?

  • @guruofdoodoo What are you trying to accomplish with all of this rageful commenting you're doing?

  • @JohnnyKnodoff Just responding to the jackasses that attacked me. Now I'll ask you a question? Why did you single out my "ragefull commenting" instead of asking what everyone else involved in the "ragefull debate" what they were trying to accomplish?

  • Folk music had come a long way then, but now no radio programmer or concert promote wants to touch that label with a ten-foot pole! WFUV-FM in New York went from calling themselves "city folk" to "rock and roots" Folk music in the age of Gaga bores people.

  • Pot kills people! NEver ever even think about hitting someone over the head with a pot, its very very dangerous for god sakes!!

  • @rolo3040 peace

  • @rolo3040 Yes, it can cause brain damage. Esp. the cast iron type pot.

  • @rolo3040 I apologize - I saw the first three words and gave a thumbs down.

  • @kuksugare88 Its fine, I didnt even know I got 42 thumbs up

  • I love how Woodstock was in 69.

  • This is the Woodstock 69 spirit. Peace & Love. This was the Make Love Not War generation.

  • lol worst comments ever on this video lol wtf

  • So tell me, Daniel got out of the Lion's Den by the grace of God. How many others died in there? a few hundred thousand people escaped the German Concentration camps. 13 MILLION did NOT. Just because one person got through the cracks of the system, oh heck, let's say a million blacks have done what Oprah did...does not mean that eleven million more people did not suffer in poverty and ignorance. Oprah is an extremely smart and well educated woman. That doesn't mean capitalism works.

  • @whisperindave1 Capitalism works for those who work! Period! If socialism was so fucking great then why is it that no socialist country ever prospers? Also why is it that if it's so great all the whiny ass so called socialist never move to a socialist country? No they are too chicken shit to do that instead they want the rest of us to hold their hand and partake of socialisms shit along with them. Bullshit bitch! Move or shut the fuck up!

  • @guruofdoodoo Wrong. As 20 million Americans about it, you moron.

  • @whisperindave1 I gotta love when an illiterate piece of crap corrects my grammer like you did in a post above,

lol. What in the fuck were you even trying to say? As 20 million Americans about it. What the fuck? Put the pipe down take your head out of your ass, or you life partners ass (which ever it may be) and then atempt to form a coherent thought. Cation! This procedure has been know to cause anerisms in liberal asstards! You may want to seek your doctors advice before starting this

  • @guruofdoodoo It's grammar.

  • @whisperindave1 Your libtardedness shows more and more with each mentally challenged response. You respond to the fact that you mispell and use nonsensical clipped phrases by trying to correct my grammar again

. And how exactly did this explain your fucktarded incomplete sentence? I'll bet my last dollar that your biggest fantasy is to be ass raped by Al Gore

  • Respond to this video... It's aneurism. It's attempt. It's caution. I see you never won the spelling bee...

  • @whisperindave1 hey isn't it aneurysm ? I know daddy died from abdominal aortic aneurysm. triple a in medical language.

    the Rn

  • Capitalism is built on the backs of the workers and the working poor. They keep you uneducated and with no self-esteem and they use you up. So they can send their kids to private school and Disneyland...Screw 'em EAT THE RICH!

  • @whisperindave1 So please tell me how someone like Oprah who was born into poverty to a teenage mother made herself into what she is now? According to you she should never have made it out of the inner city projects.

  • Guthrie has fight in Vietnam...

  • Far Out......

  • woooooooooooooooooooooo Play it agin ! ... and again

  • Gotta caugh to get off

  • bellissimi tempi rock e maria a gogo beati loro per la loro epoca

  • Got to be careful with those foil pipes. Crush the stem and it won't draw and you're out of business. BuMmer. Cool times. Too bad arlo became a neo con in his later years.what happened arlo?

  • We do live in a somewhat paranoid world, but also a confused world, where it is ok to be totally drunk and repulsive in society, i mean i drink but i dont go out stupid... The amount of crime that is passed off from alcohol is ridiculous, let everyone smoke pot instead, or is that why they won't legalize.. wouldn't need to employ as many police etc to control the... lack of crime.. the world is messed up big time...

  • We smoked alot of pot then.

  • @MsKoali And the New Gen of hippies still are :)

  • @MsKoali I was too young then but I caught up later on

  • @MsKoali haha trust a kid of this generation we probably smoke just as much.

  • @MsKoali We do now, too.

  • @MsKoali We were so young,, But dam, it was fun. Rock On...No body get's out of here alive!

  • most joints ive seen on avideo bout woodstock...and i believe its not even 1% percent of how much weed they smoked there

  • I loved how arlo said los angel-ese. so it would rhyme with a couple of keys. I was born in LA and never heard it pronouced like that, ever, but hey. great song by a great artist.

  • This song has been making me chuckle since I was 16, what a lad, an his Da, an all

  • wow that was matthew mccouneghey's dad at 01:26....panama red, panama red

  • Smash Hoke!

  • I met Arlo Guthrie in Madison yesterday! This song will not leave my head. Love it!!

  • I was in USAF basic training when Woodstock happened. I never was much on those phony fuckin draft dodging hippies with the way they treated the troops that did serve but I love most of the music of the 60’s and 70’s, some of the best ever. I was all about those hippie chicks though. Yeah honey, no bra, Boone’s Farm wine and free love, bring it on.

  • The Woodstock generation wanted peace and love, but without Jesus Christ...and that is why it failed my friends...

  • @disciplesofthecross that is a load of crap, friend. you're as wrong as can be, there were plenty of Christian hippies (including the Grateful Dead). not only if your premise flawed it's demonstrably wrong, can you name even one peaceful era in all of Christendom? you'd ought to seek a real education somewhere.

  • @truthslap Jerry Garcia the heroin addict was a follower of Christ? lmao Get real. Only Jesus Christ can provide real peace and love...

  • @disciplesofthecross Jerry Garcia was a dedicated lifelong Christian. maybe you should LISTEN to Grateful Dead before passing judgment, or ask any fan. Jerry would probably sing this one for you.

    Saint Stephen with a rose

In and out of the garden he goes

Country garland in the wind and the rain

Wherever he goes the people all complain.

  • @truthslap "Dedicated" Christians don't shoot heroin and sing about cocaine you goof. lol
