I was always told a british born in india, were called angloindian, and half british and half indian was called eurasian.I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHO IS WHO
check out wikipedia it tells you how the anglo indian community evolved. Yes the british were called anglo indian to begin with but that changed with history in the general consensus.
Sounds like a wonderful project. Maybe oneday anglo indian won't be such an alien word. I get tired of explaining my origins and getting confused with being arabic, hispanic, southern greek etc. I am anglo indian and i think i like to see this as being when East meets West. World peace is also close to my heart because whatever your origins we are all part of the human race.
Great idea Nigel! i'm a 50 yr old anglo living in Canada (lived over 40 yrs in London UK). The term "anglo-indian" draws some puzzled looks and comments (always has)..most Europeans can't relate to a community that was Eurasian/Christian within the general populace of Hindu/Muslim.(especially an ENGLISH speaking community!). We are a rare breed and i appreciate your enthusiasm towards this splendid project!
Please find the Anglo-Indiam Heritage Centre on Facebook with many videos.
Join the page and contribute to share your stories. Regards and thanks, Nigel

I think the monument should conmemorate only those people stemming from roots of the British Raj in India.
