I found this video while looking for a Mick Karn piece. How disappointing to find another untalented sound-scribe blasting over such a talented musician. Why is it that the guitarists who play with Mick Karn have this desire to play such discordant rubbish? I would much prefer to listen to Mick Karn on his own than suffer the rubbish that drowns out his subtle and deft finger-work. RIP a bass genius.
I couldn't of been as modest as Mick was here, I would've at least walked downstage a bit and moved a bit. Then, after the show I would've told the guitarist to be less of a douche bag on stage, otherwise, I'm out.
Could anyone tell me where this is from? A DVD or anything?
Also, to the people saying they don't understand why these guys are playing together: Sugizo considered Mick as his best friend and idol. These guys were all buddies. They are jamming and having fun there. If you don't like it, at least don't take that from them and enjoy it for what it is. I'm glad I got to know about Mick through Sugizo, because I wasn't from the generation who grew up with Japan.
What an amazing combination. Who knows what magic these two might have conjured in the future if Mick had not been taken away. Thanks for sharing this with us. The Bass King at his best. We'll see you in our dreams, dear Mick. Love you always xx
Indeed Mick was one of the greatest, I saw Japan's last concert in Europe at Hammersmith- AWESOME. RIP great man and strength to your family and friends........
RIP MIck, but that stupid comment about the annoying guitarist? Do yer homework mate. Sugizo is one of the best guitarists ever and to see these two greats jamming on stage is a privelage!
@iceonaboy ......sorry about the annoying guiarist quote! not a sugzio fan, more a john mcgeoch man myself! check him out.... shame about mick, a true bass legend
@bimbler62 No bother mate, so sorry about Mick, as you say a legend, but youi should listen to what Sugizo has done solo or with Luna Sea, ok, its in foreign, but its awesome . I will check out John McGeoch reet now, cheers!
Imagine Karn and Fripp from King Crimson. there are connections. David Sylvian from Japan worked with Fripp. David Barbari from Japan joined Porcupine Tree that have links to King Crimson. Music is one family.
No worries... we'll just have to agree to disagree...if you knew the Japan tune you'd get it that they are jamming around Mick Karn so it's THEM that are wrong not Mick! No hard feelings and best wishes :-)
@bimbler62 cameraman made a good job because its sugizos gig not mick karns gig (he was a special guest so...) but rest in peace, legendary mick karn, your name and music will live forever.
Don't fight, people - there's room for both Mick Karn and JJ Burnell (Those groups were my 2 faves, it's the bassist that make it for me). Mind you, you should also take a listen to ACR ( A Certain Ratio), he wasn't too bad either...
Ok, I've checked this out a few times, and discarded it for heroic shwanking (despite being a big Mick Karn)... then just now realized circa 1:30 this is a funked up version of Visions of Pioneers. Kudos. Mick Karn.
who is the idiot playing the 6 string 'tenor bass guitar' with metal bars to help him learn the notes? He is spoiling Mick Karn's genius with his stupid waffling!!!
SUGIZO, the person who is the actual performer for this concert. He invited Mick to come jam with him since he is a big fan of JAPAN and considers Mick one of the best bass players in the world.

it just doesnt do with the guitar and programers stuff
