But, it is important to remember that a support for a referendum or even independence cannot be gauged with reference to the recent UK General election. @ranbrent What I am saying is that the British Army is run by Westminster, if Scotland broke away, depending on how it broke away (which it won't but let's entertain the thought) The British government may not see fit to employ people from Scotland. This would mean even more jobless, and who would be picking up the tab? Well that burden would then fall on the Scottish government and not the English one. Scotland's oil is running out. What will Scotland do when they're out of resources and they realise all of the UK's greatest businesses are based in England. Scotland would be doomed without Iraq oil and Falkland oil. The UK's biggest industries and exports come out of England. Scotland would have no wealth or significance without the UK. I'm fairly liberal so I think they should get a referendum if they want, but it would be a ridiculous decision to isolate themselves from us.

But, it is important to remember that a support for a referendum or even independence cannot be gauged with reference to the recent UK General election. Unfortunately the theme employed in Scotland during that was "vote for Labour to help keep the Tories out".
As for the dropping of the referendum, it is unfortunate, but given the SNP are a minority, the other parties didnt have the bottle to support it.

Im not from Scotland, however, Scotland's first minister in this news article explains the goal of only having anseperate independent government. Scotland has incredible history, and is completely unique from England and the rest of Britain. Scotland aswell as other British Isle countries should not only have indepedant governments but should be independant in all other aspects in society, socially, economically, etc. Scotland should be completely free. Also, english monarchy ties = mockery.
