  • this song wasn't in donnie darko, even still it is classic 80's downer rock. It's not the cure it's modern english and the cure never covered it. The song at the start is the killing moon by echo and the bunnymen, not inxs. Best part of the sound track is under the milkyway by the church at the party at the end

  • @PUNKWALIA isn't the song at the start never tear us apart?

  • @PUNKWALIA oh never mind i have the directo'r cut version

  • HAHA YES!!! LOVE IT matches soo perfectly :D

  • The song was used in the movie Valley Girl which starred Nicholas Cage, classic 80's teen movie (without Molly Ringwald), funny movie and a huge hit when it was released 1983ish from memory. Donny Darko as a movie is in a class of its own though as is its soundtrack, the smurf conversation is a classic.

  • this isn't by the cure. It's by modern english.

    :]

  • awesome. 5 stars

  • this smells like someone who's tryin to be deep :l

the song is going with donnie's relationship with Gretchen, in which case he actually did stop the world for her. don't try to find deep meanings in everything. you'll miss the point. besides its a good song and a good movie.

  • was the smiley face in the title intentional or and accident

  • accident

didn't notice till you mentioned it

  • OH YES. GREAT VIDEO

  • how come?

  • i prefer the INXS song at the start :(

  • Me too!!

    gsn

  • the cure did a version of the song and i can never find it .

  • r u sure it's this song? only because i've stumbled over their version of Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division before.

  • I am not sure what youre referring to here, whether it is someone else's post about another group or what, but ...

Modern English had this song first. It was a 'one hit wonder' in America. Its called "Melt with You". It was used in "Donnie Darko" which was an incredible movie. Glory

  • I was referring to Boricuachick29s comment about the cure covering this modern english original. btw this was my best friend in year 6's favorite song, and he sang it every break we got in 1986.

  • It wasn't used in Donnie Darko...

  • wasnt this echo and the bunny men the killing moon? in the actual movie?

  • no

echo n the bunnymen was in the beginning bike scene but thats it

  • This vid was nice.

Some of the comments on the 5th page made me realize that Donnie is somewhat like Nny from JTHM. Except instead of him dying causing the world's end, his survival did it.

  • Best movie ever, i like this a lot, but the sound seems a bit too happy fr the movie. But still, great way it was put together and lyrics work. (Jake is the best actor ever aswell)

  • Totally agree... the film was "entertaining" to say the least.

  • Haha theres a fat guy watching us.

I like it when hes throwing the gasoline everywhere

  • i love how his peddling goes w/ the music.

  • awsome music, Donnie darko is a movie to review for ever.

  • i had 2 watch this movie about 5 times 2 get it but its a great movie

  • Great Film and great soundtrack

  • this movie is amazing.. so is the soundtrack

  • damn good movie and kick ass song. great job

  • is donnie darko a sad movie?or a comedy?ive never seen it so can someone tell me what its about?

  • I have no idea what to call it. It is strange as anything. It is one of my favorites though!

  • its about a lot of things. love, highschool, time travel, schizophrenia, family, giant bunnies, patrick swayze

  • the movie is called Donnie Darko

  • what is the title of this movie?

  • Ok, some of these people definitley need to watch the movie again due to a clear lack of understanding of what it's really about. You, however, made a very, very good video. I thought at first, what an odd choice but I got it at the end. Mildly depressing, but so was the movie. I cried at the end. Great combo!

  • why does he? to save his gf? to save frank? keep in mind by going back he leaves his sister to the child molestor. thus the jumping on the trampoline.

he goes back in time to tear the world apart, "just to see what would happen". then again you could say he goes into the future by avoiding death to see what would happen....

  • donny uses frank to go back in time using granma deaths theory of time travel and his perceptiion. donny cheats death originally by avoiding the plane engine which falls off the plane his mom is in. he goes back and dies.

  • He goes back because escaping death disrupts the spacetime-continuum, which will make the world collapse.

  • love this song and movie

  • yea w e average pffft

  • more than a 'one hit wonder' band in my opionion. the album this song came from is awesome.

  • I'm about to ask a really stupid question. What band is it?

  • the cure

  • i ment modern english, sorry

  • Simply one of the most amazing movies ever made..

  • He more or less did it to save Gretchen!!

  • noooo he did it to "rip the world apart, just to see what would happen". scene where he talks about why the kids vandalized old mans house but they didnt take the money.

  • i didt see the movie but what is it about and waht happens in the end ????

  • donnie re-alters time and dies in the jet engine incident.

  • Beautiful Movie..........Beautiful Song. Good call.

  • yea i saw the movie. i think i want to watch it again... its pretty confusing

  • i def. didnt get the ending. maybe im just a dumb blonde but i dont understand why donnie died

  • he didnt want the others to die again like they did when he lived.

  • yeah, thats what i orginally thought. that he died to save everyone else. thanks a bunch!

  • it took me three times to understand the movie... its awesome.

  • whts it bout i didnt get it

  • its really hard to explain, and its really your interpretation of it. its abstract really. but the one thing i got from it is that he wanted to do something good for his community, geez i should've answered a long time ago its hard for me again to explain. he wanted to do something good, he knew he was boned wether he lived or died so he took the "route" that he would've taken had it not been for "Frank".

  • like a painting

  • exactly

  • thats not what the movie is about... look beyond the "bunny"

  • <3 times a million, no make that a trillion!

  • aww so cute!

  • Beautiful...I absolutely love this song...if a guy played that for me, I would be heads over heels...

  • I LOVE IT
