Muhammed Ali said it best years ago: "Not Just Anyone Can Be President". George Bush has been a perfect example of an electorate that for its own reasons will elect justanyone to be President of the USA, whether they have any real qualifications or not. Ambassador Keyes, Senator Obama and others are excellent orators and well versed in politicis, however, does that alone qualify one to be President, or because Americans love their persona? If Keyes is a serious candidate, he should publicly apologize to his daughter and to Cheney. And repay his campaign the salary and reimbursements he took out of the donations from his last election.

Why would anyone who has come in last place in every election they entered run again?

Candidates are allowed to use campaign contributions to pay themselves salaries. Those candidates who are not wealthy have quit their jobs to spend countless hours on the campaign trail. They still have mortgages to pay and families to support. Without a campaign salary it would be impossible for non-wealty candidates to compete against incombents who collect tax-paid salaries (your money and mine) as they seek re-election.

Your flawed logic is magnified in that Keyes does not hit the campaign trail. He never goes out to greet voters because of the routine, highly negative reactions he gets - he would never want that on tape.

He is far from poor. Granted he may not be rich - but there is no need for him to skim 6 figure payments out of his donations - the people who donate to him are usually lower middle class.

And - apologizing to his daughter and Chaney is free.
