Now I think people would not mind wreslting as much if it used strikes and submissions along with it, basicly mma on the ground. BJJ and judo is more entertaining due ot the submission aspect of it and the fact its more active, wrestling...has alot of stalling in one position which can look a tad gay and well boring. It is why pure preed wrestlers in mma are getting bashed, becuase they don't train in a martial art, just a sport, they don't train to finish fights.

I do folkstyle Greco and freestyle, we had state champs this weekend I took 2nd for Greco 7th for freestyle and 3rd in folkstyle, I've never done freestyle before tho so it was hard

The reason why Liddell had excellent take down defence was because he himself was an excellent grapper.. a college wrestler and a BJJ purple belt. Ditto Anderson Silva I believe he has a black belt in Judo and BJJ. They are excellent all round fighters that's why in there prime they can/could beat an accomplished striker and grappler.

i responded to romeyromel saracastically. I understand greco roman and the tremendous amount of strength to pull off that gut wrench on another strong wrestler. and for your other comment bjj guys have been submitting stronger wrestlers since the beginnings of mma. greco is hella boring period its kind of fun to do for a while but eventually you just wanna shoot a damn double. this is just brute strength i like freestyle for the the overall athleticism.

I doubt a "jujistu with a combination of any other martial art" would have helped. These guys are at the peek of their talent. To find a "jujistu guy" to challenge these men would be VERY hard.
And just for your information: These guys are so good at what they do, that throws are very rare. You see, they know how to stop moves from happening.

yes and crocop v mark coleman is a great example of that,then again it happens the other way around more,in grappler v striker matchups usually the grappler wins,i could name a ridiculas amount of MMA fights where that has been the case to back my point up.

not so much now look at lyoto machida , chuck lidell, anderson silva all quality strikers with good take down defences with nulify the grapplers abilitys and allow them to be KOed. the machida vs evens fight proves a point. MMA is evolving to a place where good kick boxers with good take down defences are owning wrestlers.

The reason why Liddell had excellent take down defence was because he himself was an excellent grapper.. a college wrestler and a BJJ purple belt. Ditto Anderson Silva I believe he has a black belt in Judo and BJJ. They are excellent all round fighters that's why in there prime they can/could beat an accomplished striker and grappler.

I understand what your saying, but I've seen many many strikers (Muay Thai, kickboxing, savate etc..) beat wrestlers because they were able knock him out before the fight went to the ground.

because if u can take someone down without having to attack the legs thats better,shooting double and single legs are effective but u run the risk of someone sprawling and that will lead to getting ur back taken,darce chokes anaconda chokes peruvian neckties are also others options ur oponent has from that position.

greco roman is the best wrestling for MMA,wrestling is the most important aspect of MMA being able to decide where the fight takes place weather it be on the ground or standing up is HUGE.

Greco is best for clinch work in free style you have to shoot in a double or single and that leaves you open for sprawls.

wrestling isnt fighting, it would help with your ability to take a blow though.
Say is your standing and you get speered or somthing you can sprawl ( asumeing you get good enough and that that person has a weekish speer) other wise you would probably want to go with jiujitsu or boxing :)

Haha, thats not necessarily true. What about Boxers Kickboxers or Muay Thai? Im close to positive they've never wrestled in their lives yet they have a pretty good understanding of what a fight is.
