Hey Rick thanks for this video I have a question for you, I got 1 Ksub like 2 months a go but everytime that I do use it in the middle of the party the sub go Off for 4 seg or 6 seg and them go ON, And the level I put Half volumen... Do you have a idea what should be the problem ?
@djrafa1 Did you happen to purchase the sub from us at agiprodj? If so, we'd be more than happy to help you get an answer on this or to facilitate some dialogue with QSC.
I have the same pair of subs for my hometheather system and it sounds really good, I also take them with me when I'm playing in small venues, I also have a pair of carvin subs with 2 18" drivers in each of them. I'm running a pair of 2000 watts amps into them. Even when I used multiple subs and amps I always run a mono signal. That's the way all subs output signals are recorded even if you got 2 sub outs you still have a mono signal.
I've seen a lot of your videos and I have to say I respect what you do. As a DJ I know about the preparation and time it takes to bring great dj service especially to a wedding. But most of all you really enjoy what you do and take pride in making sure you have the best of everything never leaving anything to chance. From one dj to another much respect.
@DjBobbyLosAngeles No, you don't need two subs. But that's also like saying you don't need two lights, or two microphones. The benefit to subwoofer coupling with a pair of subs is impressive. One you try it it's very hard to go back to one. Thank goodness we each can have our own opinion.
@DjBobbyLosAngeles Yes, you need two. There's nothing worse than a system with a shitty bottom end. It's amazing how much better a crowd responds when the bass is slamming.
in my opinion... tripods just dont look right makes your set up look so...messy. i rather used the pole mount and expose the sub custumers will still be impress by the size.
l like that they're small enough to fit under a table, but if l was a DJ, and wanted to be hired for more gigs, l'd WANT to show off that l have subs, especially 2 subs. l'd use the included pole and mount the speakers on it.
I'm a looping artist and ALWAYS get people freaking out on how huge my sound is, so l LIKE to show that l have subs. But l use 18s and want a smaller set up. Will this work for small to mid size bars? I use acoustic guitars, electric guitars, Fender Jazz bass, & vocals.
Hi Rick. How do you have the polarity set for each of the side by side K-Subs? What are the pros/cons to running both of them side by side in Normal or Reverse, or one in normal and the other in reverse? Thanks.
@Maipu4four4 You'll almost always run your subs with Normal polarity. This switch is useful in instances where the woofers become out of phase. This most often happens when you're using different gear or cables that you don't normally use. If the positive & negative leads of a cable are reversed it can cause one sub to move out when the other is moving in. The bass will be "dead" as the subs cancel each other. The Reverse switch fixes this problem. Be sure to adjust only one of the subs.
By running a separate right and left signal to the 2 subs, you're not getting the best sound. You should be summing your sub signal to mono and feeding that same signal to both subs. You can do that easily with the Ksub because it has dual inputs and corresponding dual outputs, so run L&R to first sub, both of those out to 2nd sub, THEN split out to the tops.
Recently bought 2 ksubs and 2 k12's your video review helped me to decide.
I am a singer and I mainly perform with backing tracks.
I am slightly confused as to the best way to connect the signal. The store where I bought them say to connect the signal into the Ksub first then to the K12, but the instruction diagram shows the signal going into the K12 then out to the Ksub.
I have a small jazz group. We consist of one vocal, one keyboard, and drums. What type of pa system would recommend for indoor/outdoor events? Thanks.
@ryancangri We have a number of small bands that have purchased the K-Series. They are perfect for what you do. A pair of K8's or K10's and possibly a K-Sub and you'd have a great setup. The only other thing you'd want is some kind of small mixing board to get your mic, keyboard, and drum levels set up to send out to your speakers and you'd be ready to go!
@ljmike1204 Well, that's hard to know for certain. But now the KW Series has come out to compliment the K-Series, which includes 15" cabinets and an 18" subwoofer.
@djjohnnys21 Hey Johnny, not sure if I answered this already or not, sorry for the delay. If this was a full blown dance for 250-300 people I'd say you'd be borderline. But if this truly is a banquet type event, you'll have to have a pair of speakers in the back to do it right. You can get away with what you have, but it will be very loud in the front of the room, very quiet in the back. Let us know if we can help any other way. Rick
i have the qsc 181 sub, is heavy and bulky. the k series sub is lighter and slimer better to grab and lift, i know the k sub has 2x 12 inch speakers total would be equal to 24 inch driver i assume. the price between the k sub and the 181 is about the same. so if i was going to buy one of them just for the performance, wich one has the most boom for the money wich one would be better?
@peterwo2e The most boom for the buck will come from the HPR181i (or the new KW181 coming very soon). The 2 12's in the KSub do work together, but it's not exactly like equaling a 24" woofer. What you end up with is a louder, punchier bass with the 12's together vs. a lower frequency response of a larger woofer like an 18". Getting one? I'd go with an 18.
@agiprodj I have a question please answer, Ok For Classic rock or Blues what is better Active speakers or Passive speakers? i wanted to buy Peavey Passive speakers Or QSC Active speakers for active speakers what is Better QSC or db Technologies?
@djdutchsweden The QSC rep in that forum is referring to your K12's being close together. That is never recommended without splaying the speakers by about 75 degrees. Completely different from the concept of putting identical subwoofers close to each other. No critical vocal range is involved with coupling subs.
Concealing subs can provide a "wow factor" for DJ clients so I don't agree it's not a valid selling point. That said, you're right that sound quality is the ultimate criterion for most. What I've learned from DJ's is that one or two KSubs are appropriate for smaller rooms where "over the top" bass is not expected. K Subs are about achieving extended bass response with highly mobile cabinets. So If you want chest-pounding bass, you'll need either multiple KSubs or 15" or 18" subs.
@grizax That's fair to say. However if there wasn't a need to conceal subs and/or make them easy to transport, there wouldn't be any in the first place. It's that tough balance between the sound and the size. We'd be more than happy to give you our personal opinion on the KSubs. Give us a call, or hop on our chat tool online. Appreciate you watching!
Love your videos. I use 2 K-12's and recently just added a second K-Sub. Any suggestions for hooking up both? I haven't used both together yet at the same time so I was wondering if there was a certain way to run the cables?
How can I connect all them from my mixer, I have only one rca r/l output, please help?

@gerard7622 Not much, actually. Granted, it's not a setup for every application, every venue. But for this room it worked beautifully.

Good upload those speakers are fantastic. 2 K subs holy dam that would be a dream..
Spartacus32145 2 months ago
My question though, why run them in stereo? Wouldn't you have better performance, etc running mono?

@PrecisionSkills Yes, and that is why we also added the annotation at 3:24 which talks about that.

rick for a 300-500 people party would you recommend 2 k12 and 2 k subs?
Mrdetail41 6 months ago
@Mrdetail41 For 300-500 people I'd recommend at a minimum 4 K12's and 2-4 KW181's. The 2 KSubs will struggle, as will a single pair of K12's.

Hey Rick. Nice Video. I am in a big debate with a Sound System setup for 250 Guests.
You think 2 QSC K12s and 1 Yorkville LS801P can handle the crowd?
It's a huge banquet hall for maximum 300 people seated. Help me out with this please! Thanks!
