French Press, proper water(boiled and rest for about 30 sec so it's around 93-96°c or 200-205°F) and quality freshly grounded coffee makes the perfect cup. Senseo coffee is not hot enough and it's very difficult to get bold coffee with lots of body to it with it.
I have a french press and a conical burr grinder... and guess what?
I haven't used them since I bought my Senseo Coffee machine. Freshly ground french press coffee simply so superior to Senseo's damn fine (two pods) cup of coffee that it justifies the time and trouble.
LOL, I make MY own pods right after I grind MY COFFEE in MY coffee grinder. The difference is the delivery system and the filter. The Senseo delivers it faster- HOWEVER, Javacurescancer has a point on the oils.
IMHO, French Pressing coffee is a waste of time now, I drank it for years. The Senseo is just faster more efficient.
Keep driving the Model A if you want, I'll take the new BMW.
you could not be more far off with the model a bmw crap. do not pay full price for one of these go to ebay or a garage sale. Nobody keeps these for very long. IT should be senseo vs Gas station Cappuccino. Now thats a fair fight.
I love my Senseo. It's worked flawlessly for 2 years now. The last thing I want to do when stumbling out of bed in the morning is mess around with a french press. And - one can put their own coffee in the Senseo. Though I like the Senseo pods actually.
No retard - Senseo markets the preground crap to make more of a profit for brand loyalists. MOST people, at least intelligent people, purchase either a podmaker or an ecopod filter-grind their own fresh coffee blend from the beans-pack the filter & enjoy a great cup of coffee! As for the French Press being better, that's a matter of personal preference. I personally prefer the Vienna style myself!
The French press undoubtedly makes better coffee than the pods. Has anyone tried the Aeropress? I like it! It is quicker than the French Press, better tasting than the Senseo.
I argue that the french press brews a superior cup because the oils of the coffee bean are retained in the liquid you drink, rather than in the paper filter of the senseo. + the time the water spends with the grounds makes for a better brew.
Fresh roasted coffee with a french press will beat any supermarket brand any day. I personally roast my own green coffee beans and have been doing it for a while now. More choices for coffee baeans and total control of roast and ridiculous money savings. I'm suprised your not using a Burr grinder for your beans and french press, you must get a lot of sludge in your cup.
The senseo will make a second cup in 30 seconds if you have already turned the machine off, If you didnt turn it off you can get a second cup within about 15-20 seconds.

you are so dumb if you have to do this:
DUMBASS!
are you dumb or something? really, the senseo still is crap
trio628 3 years ago
you guys are dumb, the senseo uses pre gound coffe, therefore it is already stale when you brew it. The french press is so much better.

I remember my first cup of Senseo. I thought, this isn't so bad! It's just that you get tired of the boring, watery taste so soon.
No wonder everyone buys the "Extremely Dark Roast" pods: Senseo is always a weak cuppa.

Ahhh, the Senseo, amazing how you see so many of these units at yard or boot sales around the globe.

I'll bet that coffee out of the french press makes a better cup than the french press.

I'd rather drink the French press. I've never seen espresso crema that white. Looks horrid.
