  • I was rigid to watch this section of the cellulite interpretation of the book! I now feel oblongated to impose a premium 69 on my keyboard.

  • Elijah Wood is perfect & i L0VE this movie when there is 80 % Russian language =-D

  • @leexag Okay, I agree there is no 'fair and unfair' in nature, but killing animals for sport to put their heads on our walls is just sick. Animals kill to eat, we sometimes kill to eat, even though humans really don't need to eat meat. Guns should be used only for protection, not for killing animals for fun, or murdering people, or fighting wars. Guns go both ways, for good, and for bad, and lately, they're being used for the bad.

  • Im born and lived in USSR and always been vegetarian, no problems :) lots of russian and ukranian speciallities of vegetarian cuisine. Vareniki, pure, salaty, blinchiki, aladushki, everything :)

  • Elijah Wood starred in the movie "Sin City" as a cannibal.

  • hahaha! This is how I feel everyday in Okinawa, Japan...

  • @rocker22496 They aren't vegetarians because they CAN'T be. They'll get sick, and even die if they eat anything but meat. It's not part of their system. WE on the other hand, CAN eat things besides meat.

See, with hunting, a human hunting a deer is an unfair advantage. Because we have guns. If humans were to live in the wild, with nothing but their own bare hands, no guns, we'd have to live off fruits, and wouldn't be able to kill animals.

  • @Bookcat16 but guns weren't granted to us by some extra-terrestrial power. We made guns, from the materials we extracted from the environment. There is no "fair and unfair" in nature. Tiger has an advantage in weight, speed and claws - would you call that "unfair"? we have advantage in our uncanny ability to modify our environment to suit our needs.

  • @leexag I agree that there is no 'fair and unfair' in nature, but humans have the capacity--and I think any decent person would agree the responsibility--to be ethical. Ethics demand that we not cause unnecessary harm to others. If we live by the "laws of nature" then it's acceptable to kill, rape, steal, and do whatever we like to others. Humans, because of our intellect, can move beyond this Hobbesian nightmare to reduce suffering for all with the capacity to experience it.

  • Actually i both love the taste and being in the presence of a living animal... it makes me sad when I think of an animal dying. I just like the taste to much for that to influence what I eat.

  • this movies is really funny for anyone from Easter Europe!!!

  • marcluc1988~ i know! i met this guy once who said vegetarians would die within 5-10 years of becoming one. i switched in 05, so i'm a little nervous.NOT! these ppl are so stupid~with their supposed facts. they're just mad, cuz they know they're wrong.

  • omg! love the glasses. drops on the floor? just brush it off man, gotta do what you gotta do.

  • OH DAMN! this is exactly what it's like when i order ANYWHERE!!! "& what about the sausage?" "what's wrong with you?" i usually end up having to say "i'll have a salad and water" ~ eddie murphy reference, for those of you who don't know~ you betta ask somebody. a potato, is what this guy ends up with. it figures. when will this world realize EVERYONE'S NOT THE SAME???

  • Hell I'm american and I find this hilarious. I love this movie to pieces! Well, to pieces of potato, that is... <3

  • fuck vegetarians, humans are meant to eat animal meat.If they were not they would get sick of it (like canibals do). I love animals and i dont eat wild animals (deer, bears, rabbits, etc.),but domesticated animals are to be eaten.

  • @TheTlotr oh. you love animals, do you? the way they taste? you cannot be an animal lover and still eat animals.that's contradictory.

  • @savageveg u son are strange

  • @TheTlotr no, it actually makes total sense.

  • @MrLokification yeah she is!

  • @savageveg this is a false dilemma; a basic fallacy. learn to compose a proper argument and then we can discuss the part meat plays in our society.

  • Grandfather says, is not possible.

  • This reminds me of when I became a vegetarian. My parents were very supportive, but they had a hard time realizing that vegetarians don't eat fish, sasuage and hamburgers.

  • he looks like skippy (edbassmaster)

  • That is what every woman above the age of forty in the FSU looks and acts like.

  • haha I found this scene hilarious

the rest of my family who is Russian thought something is wrong with me for not eating meat.

  • Alex's grandfather cuts up the potato and throws a piece to the dog. XD

  • -"Steak?"

    -"No."

    -Chickens?!"

    -"No."

-And what about the sausage?" Haha, I love it.

  • "What is wrong with you?" XD

  • This is what i have to go through all the time for being a vegetarian -_-

  • This movie is the best thing in the world! I love Eugene Hutz!!!!! <3

  • she's hot

  • I guess the only people who will understand all the references in this movie are those who lived in Eastern Europe, especially USSR. I was laughing my ass off when i was watching it. For most of the N. Americans it won't look as funny. I love this movie, really do. It captured so well that Soviet mentality

  • @andreykmtl EXACTLY!!! I live in the east part of Slovakia and I agree with your opinion. I love this mentality, kind of humor, everything.

    This is my favorite film.

  • @andreykmtl I've never been to Eastern Europe which probably explains why I didn't laugh once.

  • @andreykmtl

It's unfortunate that the mentality you mention still persists to today.

  • @julianhayda

it does, thats why I chose some years ago to live in another country

  • Is "old friends" a real brand of vodka? Or did they just make the label for this scene?

  • @pastamandjinka Animal cruelty isn't something to laugh over! And i fail to see the humor in 'fuck vegetarians'! And if i didn't have a sense of humor, i wouldn't watch America's Funniest Home Videos almost every day. (which i do)

  • @Sockr44e Fuck u! Have you seen the movie 'Food Inc.'? Then you'll see how cows, chickens, pigs, (chickens mostly) and turkeys are tortured all their lives. they make them practically beg to be slaughtered. That's why vegetarians are who they are! Animals have as much right as you do, you fucking son of a bitch! ok, if i say 'bitch' I'm making all the female dogs in the world feel bad. Animals are tortured and neglected every day and all u care about is having a slice of bacon on ur plate!

  • @Bookcat16 do you have ANY sense humor ?

  • @Bookcat16 I don't think that domesticated animals should be killed but as for wild animals.... survival of the fittest. us killing a deer is like a lion pouncing on a gazelle. You don't see any lions being vegetarians do ya? Didn't think so?

  • :D забавно

  • Should have given him some perogies... I could seriously live off of perogies if I had too!! So tasty :)

  • 1:06 Her Russian is terrible. She is not russian or ukranian. Or even if she is ukranian she is from US propably.

  • lmao, the russian part.

    "is he sick or something?"

  • Why does the grandfather cut up the potato and give a piece to all of them when Jonathan drops it?

  • @dragonsder It's a reference to the communism.

  • @soundpooling

    Oh.

    Thanks

  • Funniest part of the movie!!Before the tears begin...awesome altogether!

  • @blakesmovies No, that's Elijah Wood, he's Frodo from LOTR. Some other dude is Spider-man.

  • Any movie with Elijah Wood in it is awesome. :)

  • hahhah a ta pani, to jak u nas za starych dobrych czasów hahaha ta sama fryzura, fartuszek hahahha widać Polska, Ukraina czy Rosja jeden czort hahaha

  • Genialny jest ten film !!! Pozdrowienia z Polski :)))

  • Comment removed

  • i love this movie!!

  • "деда он вообще никакого мяса не есть"

    кадр

  • That's what every vegetarian sometimes have to face with ))))))

  • is that spiderman ??? 0_o

  • @blakesmovies Nop. It's Frodo!

  • Eugene with no mustache~ GASP!

  • Lol. Awesome movie. Im glad somebody made a movie like this. There should be more like this. Russian culture is awesome & almost opposite to American culture.

  • @bcdc2434 the movie takes place in ukraine, not russia

  • @mushrighteous I know but they are ukrainian Russians- like me ))

  • ЧАВО? бAльной, что ли?

  • Love this part!!

  • "What it wrong with you?" XD

  • as austrian, i went to ukraine 2 times... have to say that the ukrainian cuisine is excellent, but of course, vegetarian dishes are not very common there;-) and maybe thats the reason why I like the ukrainian people/culture that much...

  • I love this scene. I'm a vegan and it's already hard to explain to people in the United States. I can't imagine trying to eat in a place like Ukraine. I would never succumb to animal products even if it were insulting, because I find eating meat and animal products insulting. Oh well! :)

  • @wonderwoman1148 What is wrong with you ? :)))

  • @kponealex ...nothing?

  • I get this same confused looks from people when I Say "I'm vegan", but I found this seane to be very funny, I also love the move.

  • This is the reality in most of the world. Vegetarians usually confuse or insult people by refusing their food. Very few places are vegetarian-friendly. It's a choice that people in extremely wealthy countries can make. Also, great movie.

  • @Zayandeh38

tell that to the Indians, douchebag

  • @AlainWinthrope That's part of the population of one country. Doesn't change the fact that for most people in most places, refusing to eat meat is not a consideration or an option. I'm not saying that its a problem to be vegetarian, but you can't go into someone's home in places I've been in Latin America and Central Asia and say, "no thanks, I don't eat meat." People will be offended. But I know, you're too superior and important to be bothered with such barbarians.

  • @Zayandeh38 If that is the case, then why don't wealthy Indian people immediately turn meat-eater? Maybe it's because they are vegetarian by CHOICE and not just because of having or not having money!

  • It is one of the best, but what about his arrival when he meets Sammy Davis Junior, Junior?

    I want a sammy

  • Она по-русски говорит как Шварц в Красной жаре

  • I love Ukraine.

  • Non ho parole.Troppo bello

  • Non ho parole

  • Political jokes FTW.

  • This is my favorite scene from this movie...so freaking funny. And I'm vegetarian.

  • I just love that movie, one of my all time favorites...

  • at 3:34 there all like WHAT THE F**K!?!?!

  • haha, story of my life right here

  • Typical questions I get asked while having lunch or dinner (I'm vegetarian too)

  • Music at 1:52 is 'Malen'kiy Mal'chik', by the fantastic (but sadly now split up) Russian band Leningrad...

  • can anyone tell me the name of the song starting at 1:52 ? pleaaaase !

  • I wish for our culture ... that we could be lik more accepting of everyone .. this woman is "chu chu esperieto" ,,, ARENT WE ALL? lol !

  • My favourite movie :)

  • vat about deh sausage

  • lmfao omg best movie ever. and sammy david junior jr is SO cute! hahah this is probably one of the best scenes in the movie =)

  • soooo familiar... :D

  • Добро пожаловать на Украину! пиздецц оралово...

  • Добро пожаловать на Украину! пиздецц оралово... ^^

  • It's strange seeing Eugene without his wicked mustache. xD

  • "Больной что ли???" :D

I love this movie!!! Absolutely wonderful!

  • Sammy Davis Junior, junior

  • haha this is one of my favourite scenes!

  • This is an awesome movie!

  • the music is the best part man. love this.

  • when he picked up the potato i was, hey can't let good food go to waste. potatoes are awesome

  • The first time I watched this movie, I had no idea that Alex is Eugene from Gogol Bordello. Not until the credits, anyway.

Great band and a great performance by Mr. Hutz.

  • awesome film.

  • My friend from egypt was asking why i dont eat meat (im a vegetarian too) so i sent him this video :P

  • @lewisfrom1995 You are a what? : D

  • @lewisfrom1995 Why don't you eat meat? I'm vegan and I don't think animals should be used as objects which is exactly what humans do with them. It's totally unnecessary despite what the meat industry lies say. I've not eaten any meat for 35 years and I'm still healthy and.....ALIVE!

  • @marcluc1988

my dog isn't a vegetarian, is the meat industry lying to my dog?

  • Vat is vrong vis you?

    LOL

  • 1:03 Alex is so afraid from her response LOL !

    gr8 movie.

  • i hope it's not how americans really imagine ukrainian cuisine.

    Cause ukrainian food is awesome!

    Vareniki for the win!!!

  • @casperado666 Yes it is, but there is a lot of meat in Slavic cooking. So it makes sense that they would be confused by a vegetarian. I know my Russian friends had no clue.

  • @RazelG yes of course. but imeant that there are many other vegetarian dishes, like vareniki with cheese and sour cream or borsh (with pampushki, garlic and a lot of sour cream) which are typical for Ukraine and which don't contain any meat. damn, just talking about that makes me wanna go back to odessa! mmmmm

But actually the best dish my grandma does are pig-ribs fried and subsequently coocked with plums. She does that with 3 fat types and adds abit sugar. God that tastes like heaven.

  • @casperado666 until I have actually been to your country, I would never judge This is about making fun of a vegetarian, and i have been there! Cheers!

  • @casperado666 i bet many of them dont even know where ukraine is.

as in that joke: war is gods way of teaching americans geography :))

greeting from your neighbour down south :)

  • @19dec1981 I love how Americans are supposed to know where every single country on the earth is, otherwise we are idiots.

Do you know the name of every country on earth and can you point to it on a map?

Yes? Wow! That's pretty cool, but you are the minority.

No? Then shut the fuck up.

  • @shadow0reviewer actually i have a degree in geography and YES i know where all the countries in the world are

now hurry, go on wikipedia and search what the capital of "iurop" is, ya dumbarse!

  • @19dec1981 Oooh, I get it. You actually studied geography, so now everyone else (especially us vile Americans) are morons for not knowing as much about it, as a guy who studied it. Right?

Now go be an asshole, ya asshole! :D

  • @shadow0reviewer

thats just shows how ignorant you are. you dont have to know details about every country and all that. but i think its pretty decent to know where a country is located so if i would give you a map to point ukraine you wont look for it in south america.

i think every person that regards him/her with a bit of intelligence should have BASIC geography skills

  • @casperado666 Pirozhiki

  • @casperado666 nah! we like diverse foods! at least most of us do!

  • @casperado666 after a week and a half in Ukraine, the way I imagine their cuisine is dill, dill, dill, dill and more dill.

  • @chechezluvsgd actually yeah, my mom used to put it in all kinds of dishes, also parsley is very common. We usually put a bit of it on boiled potatoes (not mashed, just like in this scene), on fried meat (steaks etc) or also into salads. It's one of the cheapest and most common herbs in Ukraine.

  • @casperado666 Is vareniki that thing that is made of cabbage and looks like a human lung?

  • @vrolok4768 no

  • I need to see this again. When I saw it I was like, in the third or fourth or fifth grade. I loved it even then. I think I'd understand it better now, though.

  • I can't understand why your teacher would show this movie to third-graders. It's very sad and painful to watch about a horrible subject (even though it's a rich, beautiful movie).

  • loved this film

  • *slice slice slice*

    *reach*

    *THUMP*

  • Welcome to Ukraine!

  • "what´s wrong with you?"

    =DDD

  • No no no, it's "Vat is vrong wiz you?"

  • omg, this woman was speaking russian, but with a very funny english accent))) It looks so unnaturally xD

  • Haha, I didn't notice the first time I watched this, but she does! I wonder why?

  • Comment removed

  • no meat . steak? chicken? hahahahhahahahahahahah

  • i love the scene..i love the music too...!!

  • I laugh so hard at this, because I'm a vegetarian, and I travel a lot- and I KNOW how this feels. xDD

  • elijah depresses me in this movie

  • That woman looks like John C. Reily in drag.

  • BEST COMMENT EVER

  • thanksss!

  • Daze kolbosu?

  • even sausage.

  • i love the music in this scene, Leningrad (band) is amazing, premium movie with premium music and the premium actor/muscian/god among men Eugene Hütz

  • chickens?

  • is that Eugen from gogol bordello?? OMG NO 'STACHE!

  • i luv this movie omg...i found it super funny when the russian guy asked elijah "what is wrong with you" lmao

  • Geez I love this movie...:)))) love love love :)) And it's the best soundtrack ever!! :))) Great :)

  • Do you like? Gogol Bordello?

  • It was Leningrad's song ;)

  • It doesnt distort any perception :) this scene reminds me of old times back in my country.. You come to the store and the sales lady looks at you with expression "what the fuck do you need here" :D

  • True that.

  • omg it reminds me of the same thing =D

  • This film distorts perception of Ukraine similarly as Borat distorts perception of Kazakhstan... In actual fact to a 90% film it was taken off outside Ukraine

  • I think it is meant to be an american's view of Ukraine, how he sees the things that are happening to him and his surroundings...

  • i love this movie.....

  • 1:03 HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • the thing that i dont understand about this clip is that they arent speaking ukrainian they are speaking russian. i hear no ukranian accent whatsoever. btw anyone know what the guy in glasses real name is? hes adorable! :-D

  • In Ukraine, it is not uncommon for people to speak Russian, because of the take over of the USSR in the past. And the main character with the glasses is Elijah Wood (it's hard to believe but yea)

  • oh, sorry, i didnt know.. btw thanks for letting me know that guys name.. hes quite adorable

  • Where are you from? Do you know what the USSR is? The Ukraine used to be 1 with Russia... More than half the country is straight Russian these days, not to mention the generations that were born under Russian rule are coming of age now. Of course they are speaking Russian.

  • its not THE ukraine, its just Ukraine, and theyre speaking Ukrainian, it has definate russian influence, more so than it was 50-60 years ago, but its Ukrainian, or at least modern Ukrainian

  • oki dokie whatever you say

  • They're not speaking Ukrainian, they're speaking Russian.

  • no its Ukrainian, its just HEAVILY Russian influenced, its Odessa (allegedly) so theres going to be alot more russian influence than if it were kiev

  • Dude, I'm from Ukraine. I speak both Russian and Ukrainian. I can assure you the language they are speaking is Russian. There's East Ukraine and there is West Ukraine. The East speaks mostly Russian while the West speaks Ukrainian.

  • it's Russian

  • it's russian. BUT when the grandfather says to jonathan "dobro pozhalovat' do ukrainy", that's ukrainian. probably on purpose, since he's welcoming him to ukraine.

  • I think its interesting that people say its russian, even though I nearly perfectly understand tehm and I dont speak a lick of russian

  • it is russian

  • no he says "dobro pozhalovat na ukrainu" which is russian

  • WTF are you saying, my dear? Whole East and South Ukraine speaks Russian.
