You probably know that Michael's influences are Tim Bogart, Jack Bruce and the late Jaco Pastorius. Sounds like jazz and fusion to me. When that 1984 album cam out he developed a mean deep bass sound I liked. His style as far as recording TO ME was just in the pocket. Nothin' wrong with that.

I much say I also agree that Charlie Watts fits the Stones in a way Neil Pearts style never really would--same as Angus fits AC/DC better than Vai would. But, Peart could play rings around Charlie, thus he is a better player. Peart would have an easier time playing Charlies style, as oppose to Charlie attempting to emulate Pearts style of playing.

I suggest get a copy of Modern Drummer magazine with Alex Van Halen on the cover/featured artist and he reveals some interesting truths about the roots of Van Halen. Alex, Eddie & Dave are the founding members and architects of Van Halen. Mike auditioned after their original bass player was stood down.
Mike didnt write a thing, even Eddie played bass on some songs!! Mike should thank Van Halen for giving him everything he so treasures in life today. He has no right to criticise Van Halen, he knew his role but chose to go with Sam. Its pretty simple.
The tour was highly successful, I think alot of people have the "Michael-who?" mentality. It's not like MA wrote any material or had stand-out bass lines.

Just so you know i saw them on october 30th and wolfgang was perfect.i didn't hear him mess up once and the vocals sound the same.i think the only reason they didnt invite mike is because he was touring with Sammy as the Other Half which i guess the frown upon and eddie thinks that having his son present might cool tension between the band.

I went to the Philadelphia Show on Monday night 10/01/07. All I can say is that it was... UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE!!! Wolfie kicked ass, his Bass Playing & Backing Vox were Super! (the kid is 16 yrs old) I was in Section 5/Row 8 (On The Floor Dead Center) Face Value Ticket price was $149.50. IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! I advise anyone who is listening... Whatever you have to do... Get to a show before it's over.

Just so you know i saw them on october 30th and wolfgang was perfect.i didn't hear him mess up once and the vocals sound the same.i think the only reason they didnt invite mike is because he was touring with Sammy as the Other Half which i guess the frown upon and eddie thinks that having his son present might cool tension between the band.

"A brand new band." he talked about a lot of great alumni that have come and go, and how its a basic "revision." either way, in my book its still van halen. its not like the situaton with Axl Rose where he walks around with a buncha strangers HE calls Guns N' Roses when it should basically be viewed as a solo project. Van Halen has always basically been Ed and Al with a few friends and as long as THEY are both included in the line-up, it is basically Van Halen.

I went to the Philadelphia Show on Monday night 10/01/07. All I can say is that it was... UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE!!! Wolfie kicked ass, his Bass Playing & Backing Vox were Super! (the kid is 16 yrs old) I was in Section 5/Row 8 (On The Floor Dead Center) Face Value Ticket price was $149.50. IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! I advise anyone who is listening... Whatever you have to do... Get to a show before it's over.
