This movie was awful. Pure garbage and not a true punisher film. I only watched it once and it was bad enough the first time! Absolute low budget third rate film.

I enjoyed it. The art direction was spot on, framing and lighting was superb, use of color was amazing. The opening scene where he lights up the flare was insane.
It stays fairly faithful to the Ennis material in terms of style and feel.
My only criticism was the occasional bit of weak writing and dialogue but action, look and overall style were great. Out of the 3 existing Punisher flicks, this is the best. A respectable decent effort.

i enjoyed this one alot more than the previous one.Not because of the gore but it was more Punisher like.It had some bad parts like when he fights the cop(who eventually becomes his friend it was a bit stupid and bad coreographed ) and some others but overall was very good.and The guy looks alot more bad ass.The worst is that the villains should have been better like the Russian who fights Punisher in the previous one.That moment was the best in the whole movie.

Personally, I say that Bob Sapp would be perfect for the role of the big, cheerful, Barracuda (if you don't beleive me, go watch Adam Sandler's "The Longest Yard" and look at his performance as the child-like Switowski).
I also say that Garth Ennis should be hired as head writer, and that Thomas Jane was the better Punisher (no offense to Ray Stevenson, but his british accent and lack of longcoat just didn't fit the character as well).
The cast was excellent poor script coming from the writers of IRONMAN, and Lost LIONSGATE messed up big time this movie can be completely re-done fight scenes were poor nice firefight music was great. Many of the cast were under used, The Punisher trowing away weaponry no way also where is his Colt 45 no the HK version.

The Punisher films aren't masterpieces but as a fan of the comics I gain a lot of enjoyment out of the films and these two aren't nearly as bad as the one starring Dolph Lundgren.
I'm writing a reboot script to the Punisher. Making this one better. You see the only way to make a great Punisher film is to have the movie in the vain of the serious Punisher comics. Like Circle of Blood, The Klaus Janson 1987 series, Marvel preview featuring The Punisher, Punisher War Zone Romitia JR series, Year One, Punisher 1989 movie special, Welcome Back Frank & the Max Series.
i've read the Punisher MAX run and i think punisher war zone paid proper respects to it (e.g. the line "sometimes i wish i could get my hands on god" is taken out of a storyline in the MAX run)
But then again, i thought the spirit of the MAX run was mostly emulated in the violence and not enough in the villain who should have been more fleshed out (no pun intended) and the dialogue was especially lacking compared to Garth Ennis' writing in MAX which has more tongue in cheek and dark humour
This movie was excellent. Punisher in his own unique style of what he is. A badass that looks badass savaging scum off the face of the earth. Cleary critics are fools to bash this movie when it's staying true to the character yet the praise the piece of awful abominadble trash Superman Returns which makes Superman look so far off of admirable.

I liked this one the best because it was the closest to the comics. Some things I didn't like about it, but no movie is ever going to be perfect. Although, I thought Ray Stevenson did a great job as the Punisher. He is by fat the best in my opinion.
I agree with almost all of what you said except for one thing. I (myself) did like the costume. It's the best outfit so far even if the skull wasn't always visible. Most of the critics really didn't give "War Zone" much of a chance even though Ray Stevenson was the best actor to portray ol' Frank. He looks, sounds, and acts just like the Punisher ! The action AND score was a remarkable improvement over the 2004 remake. I only wish that we saw a lot more of Micro and all. I also want a sequel !

Solid review. The movie was decent, I've read Welcome Back Frank and all of the Garth Enris graphic novels. One thing I wonder about, what happened to the massive army of thugs in that old building? He only shot a few dozen guys, and there were the Russians on the first floor who killed the thugs on the first floor, but it seemed there should have been more.
As for his deciding to shoot Loony Bin Jim that's what I would have done. It was the most logical course of action given that Micro basically declared he didn't care if he died. It was clear to me that they were going to kill the girl and the woman anyway, they simply wanted Frank to suffer the pain of being forced to kill the closest person to a best friend he had, before they killed the woman, the girl, and then him. His only real option was to shoot Loony Bin Jim.

the costume was great, i loved that neck guard he had, the emblem of the punisher was there, but just hard to see, the opening was great. the only prob i had with it was the reporter "soap" was WAY to campy. it wasnt the best.. but it was better then the last.. i think the critics are stupid and a cant wait to see another.. also for the last one.. john trovolta as a bad guy... give me a break. i love the guy.. but as a bad guy?

This is what's great. People who love the movie like I did, just hard, awesome action and gore. I agree, critics are morons and people often just repeat what critics say or assume it'll be bad.
And yeah, it is over the top, but for god's sake it's a COMIC BOOK movie, and not one like the Dark Knght, it's far more action based. If it's not campy in a few places for fun, and over the top with action, it's not the Punisher done right. this was done right. And the soundtrack was awesome.
im going to come out and say it. i love this movie more than iron man, hulk and yes, dark knight. but i am and have been a punisher fan forever. i have all his comics, even ones where he is only in one panel hehe. seriously ray did a phenomonal job as the punisher. if you watch the scene where the little girl is looking at the snow globe and he shows her how it works, i almost teared up. he really looked very hurting and he acted perfect. and jigsaw was really cool too. im wishing for a sequel
I agree. Of course, it doesn't get much competition when you consider how much better this is for action and actual comic book relevance compared to the others. The 89 one I watched once, jsut because I'm a total fanatic. I do, however, disagree about the costume. I liked the costume in this one. It's not like the max comics, but it is like the suit used in WBF and the classic punisher.
This was a good review, but it would have been better if: (A) You took that gum out of your mouth. and (B) If didn't take so many pauses in your speech. You gotta work on what you're going to say before you say it. This way, you can cut down on time consumption, and get your point across quicker. It was still a good review, but do work on your script.

I agree. The film was awesome, badass, funny at the same time, and we finally get a perfect punisher and great character development on the Punisher. And like you, why do people always compare The Dark Knight with this? Batman is not a flawed dark vigilante. The movie is very violent, which was awesome, just like the comics. This is a treat for punisher fans, and lastly, FUCK THE CRITICS! WATCH THIS MOVIE! ITs a great movie. And the dark humor is awesome. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I liked this. Stayed pretty faithful to the comics(but why did they re-write Ink and Pittsy?!?!?). I thought Dominic West did a great job. I have always treated Jigsaw as an over the top villain so the accent and his movements didn't bother me at all.
Can you blame the critics for expecting something better? Other than The Dark Knight you also had Iron Man, Hellboy 2 and Incredible Hulk that were all good and had great casts. Punisher War Zone might have been a good movie ten years ago but the standards that are set now are much higher.
Well thats just it. Punisher is diffrent from all those films. It doesn't have the straight up humor of Iron Man. The psychological genius of The Dark Knight. Or the fantasy and imaginitive creatures of Hellboy 2.
However. When this is compared to things like the first Spider-man and X-men. It's head and shoulders above them.
I have. I wasn't really a fan. Because it really didn't seem to match with Rambo of the originals character wise. Rambo would never have gotten involved with that war. Plus the only point of the film was Stalone wanted to make people aware of that war.
Also it seemed liek 45 mins of lead up for one big fight. And not even a progressive fight like in First Blood Rambo part 2. It was just one big scene.
I think most fans of the comic book thought the trailer looked a little disappointing, it came across as a straight to DVD movie, basically a cheap cash in that is aimed at a bloodthirsty computer game audience.

This is a Punisher movie, Ray is great and I like all the factors of Castle religion and stuff, I like Jigsaw too.

I liked this one the best because it was the closest to the comics. Some things I didn't like about it, but no movie is ever going to be perfect. Although, I thought Ray Stevenson did a great job as the Punisher. He is by fat the best in my opinion.

I agree with almost all of what you said except for one thing. I (myself) did like the costume. It's the best outfit so far even if the skull wasn't always visible. Most of the critics really didn't give "War Zone" much of a chance even though Ray Stevenson was the best actor to portray ol' Frank. He looks, sounds, and acts just like the Punisher ! The action AND score was a remarkable improvement over the 2004 remake. I only wish that we saw a lot more of Micro and all. I also want a sequel !

Solid review. The movie was decent, I've read Welcome Back Frank and all of the Garth Enris graphic novels. One thing I wonder about, what happened to the massive army of thugs in that old building? He only shot a few dozen guys, and there were the Russians on the first floor who killed the thugs on the first floor, but it seemed there should have been more.

As for his deciding to shoot Loony Bin Jim that's what I would have done. It was the most logical course of action given that Micro basically declared he didn't care if he died. It was clear to me that they were going to kill the girl and the woman anyway, they simply wanted Frank to suffer the pain of being forced to kill the closest person to a best friend he had, before they killed the woman, the girl, and then him. His only real option was to shoot Loony Bin Jim.

the costume was great, i loved that neck guard he had, the emblem of the punisher was there, but just hard to see, the opening was great. the only prob i had with it was the reporter "soap" was WAY to campy. it wasnt the best.. but it was better then the last.. i think the critics are stupid and a cant wait to see another.. also for the last one.. john trovolta as a bad guy... give me a break. i love the guy.. but as a bad guy?

This is what's great. People who love the movie like I did, just hard, awesome action and gore. I agree, critics are morons and people often just repeat what critics say or assume it'll be bad.
And yeah, it is over the top, but for god's sake it's a COMIC BOOK movie, and not one like the Dark Knght, it's far more action based. If it's not campy in a few places for fun, and over the top with action, it's not the Punisher done right. this was done right. And the soundtrack was awesome.

im going to come out and say it. i love this movie more than iron man, hulk and yes, dark knight. but i am and have been a punisher fan forever. i have all his comics, even ones where he is only in one panel hehe. seriously ray did a phenomonal job as the punisher. if you watch the scene where the little girl is looking at the snow globe and he shows her how it works, i almost teared up. he really looked very hurting and he acted perfect. and jigsaw was really cool too. im wishing for a sequel

I agree. Of course, it doesn't get much competition when you consider how much better this is for action and actual comic book relevance compared to the others. The 89 one I watched once, jsut because I'm a total fanatic. I do, however, disagree about the costume. I liked the costume in this one. It's not like the max comics, but it is like the suit used in WBF and the classic punisher.

This was a good review, but it would have been better if: (A) You took that gum out of your mouth. and (B) If didn't take so many pauses in your speech. You gotta work on what you're going to say before you say it. This way, you can cut down on time consumption, and get your point across quicker. It was still a good review, but do work on your script.

I agree. The film was awesome, badass, funny at the same time, and we finally get a perfect punisher and great character development on the Punisher. And like you, why do people always compare The Dark Knight with this? Batman is not a flawed dark vigilante. The movie is very violent, which was awesome, just like the comics. This is a treat for punisher fans, and lastly, FUCK THE CRITICS! WATCH THIS MOVIE! ITs a great movie. And the dark humor is awesome. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I liked this. Stayed pretty faithful to the comics(but why did they re-write Ink and Pittsy?!?!?). I thought Dominic West did a great job. I have always treated Jigsaw as an over the top villain so the accent and his movements didn't bother me at all.

Can you blame the critics for expecting something better? Other than The Dark Knight you also had Iron Man, Hellboy 2 and Incredible Hulk that were all good and had great casts. Punisher War Zone might have been a good movie ten years ago but the standards that are set now are much higher.

Well thats just it. Punisher is diffrent from all those films. It doesn't have the straight up humor of Iron Man. The psychological genius of The Dark Knight. Or the fantasy and imaginitive creatures of Hellboy 2.
However. When this is compared to things like the first Spider-man and X-men. It's head and shoulders above them.

I have. I wasn't really a fan. Because it really didn't seem to match with Rambo of the originals character wise. Rambo would never have gotten involved with that war. Plus the only point of the film was Stalone wanted to make people aware of that war.
Also it seemed liek 45 mins of lead up for one big fight. And not even a progressive fight like in First Blood Rambo part 2. It was just one big scene.
Though the special effects were great.

I think most fans of the comic book thought the trailer looked a little disappointing, it came across as a straight to DVD movie, basically a cheap cash in that is aimed at a bloodthirsty computer game audience.
The film I'm afraid, was doomed from the offset.

I agree with you for the most part, I think we as fans of the punisher have been so blinded by Hollywood taking a comic book character and making them eye candy, Tom Jane in the 2004 film was too emotional and he was to young and ripped to play a war vet which of course re-vamped the faded punisher logo for merch purposes but that shouldnt be the focus, the costume was very MAX Marvel-esk and I couldnt be happier, Ray Stevenson is Frank Castle and there has to be a sequal. Great review!!

The action was great, Ray Stevenson was great, the rest of it sucked. While this Punisher did mutilate people, the script didn't allow him to be the total psychopath I knew from the MAX books. That's all I gotta say.

The little girl (Donatelli's daughter) made the comment about her red pen because she was passive aggressively attempting to stop her mother from shooting him.
When Castle left the porch, the girl flickered the light from the inside to indicate her acknowledgment of Frank as friend.
Good review. PUNISHER: WAR ZONE is a great movie. Everybody should go see it this weekend!
