  • I liked the cartoon someone made of this, youtube took it down :( wish i could see it again

  • Such an amazing album.

  • so much better than new ministry hahaha

  • Every track on this is a classic...and it's an ALBUM, meaning all the songs work with each other...why would Al disavow this? Is it too cutesy, like his fab makeup on Phil Donahue? Did he forget that Sinatra was once edgy too? Come on, Al, don't insult your fans past present and future by disavowing a record that people are still discovering decades later...

  • this is not industrial...its called synthpop, son. thats what they started out as, evolved into industrial metal, and are now only metal with a hint of industrial.

  • @diimoxy you're not good in cynicism, are you? :-)

  • @nirb8 I think you mean sarcasm, old boy.

  • i can see why they are ashamed of this album

  • this album has one classic song which work for love and a few other good songs. its only worth purchasing if you really like the few songs on the album. you know how dark side of the moon doesnt have many songs but the songs on it are the best so you have to buy the album

  • wow, this is ministry?

  • @AnonShawi Sort of. More like it was written by the label, but Al was more or less forced to sing it, hence his hatred for it

  • @Greensmurf Yea, I'm just... flabbergasted :P

  • @Greensmurf you idiot he wasnt forced-new wave was popular at the time he wanted the money, anyway how do you force someone to sing and speak with a fake british accent, face it your idol is a phony piece of shit.he began using heroin and play hardcore because that was becoming the cool thing.all his albums should be named als got a cause -money

  • @qwq45 Then in that case, why are so many of your previous replies to Ministry videos? Searching for them for any reason other than complaining?

  • @Greensmurf because unlike youy, junior. i didnt have to ''search'' for ministry. i was listening to them when they first came out. you can always tell who the fish are, they talk without knowing any facts. like you. so go listen to your nu metal.

  • @qwq45 Right. Because buying it at the time would allow you to know EVERYTHING about the background of the album. So much for "fish".

"Hey! I like this album, so therefore, he must've WANTED to make it like this"

And yes, disagreeing with me would allow you to know EVERYTHING about my musical taste. An overused insult normally used by 13 year olds when they've run out of ideas. The overall quality of your post doesn't help much either

  • @qwq45 can't argue with that, but nobody does anything for nothing. whether you're a teacher or doctor they do it for money like the rest of us. and you have to give al credit, because as a musician and a composer he has evolved into something great...and give the guy a break he's not a national treasure he's just a guy like you and me who imagines, dreams, fails, feels emotions....unfortunately for us, we can't find cool as cowboy hats to cover our bald spots ;P

  • @HardAsARock222 look,im not naive .and you do make some good points, cant argue with that. what i dont respect him for, is the way he went about it. a persons tastes and views change over time. but to pull a con and then not take responsibility for it-sing in a fake british accent etc.then blame a record co. then go even further,by reappearing as a hardcore outfit, railing against greed,no morals.with a holier than thou attitude.back then a band WAS their fan base, and he discarded them as well.

  • @qwq45 that is very true, I've seen old interviews of him in his "new wave" persona and his post "twitch" days and at the time he seemed more informed, self expressed, and empathetic and now he seems like a total metal guru. Maybe he will always be embarrassed about this album, but I like it and If I were Al I wouldn't mind having this in my music catalog. Whether he is a con or a child molester, to me it doesn't matter- he's made some cool ass albums with ministry and the revolting cocks :)

  • Nice xesenta... Something to tell the grandkids about.. Unfortunately a lot of people did CRACK with Al , diminishing his talent !

  • Love this! Reminds me of my Ex..

  • I use to have the Cassette then lost it. Lucky to have found it on Cd Which I still have. one of my Favorites and a rarity.

  • damn it. I've been looking for a copy on CD and can't find one anywhere...haven't looked on the interweb tho. only in record stores.

  • Hah I want to find this album. Must be a rarity now. I have an old Twitch CD from these guys, which is an excellent album. I love all Ministry albums, even their latest heavy shit.

  • fuck, I saw them a couple summers ago and they played nothing but new shit... totally sucked. I loved Ministry from the late 80's to the mid 90's... after that... booo

  • with sympathy-the best from any synth-pop group, better than ABC, Spandau Ballet, O.M.D., soft Cell, Duran Duran.

The rest of their garbage sounds how easily one rock-industrial group can de-evolve into waste and rubbish.

  • I would almost not go that far...they played a few of the later songs I likes, and I'm pretty wide minded..but I was expecting stuffat LEAST as far back as Mind...

...I hope my shouting out "WORK FOR LOVE!!" between songs didn't hurt anything.

    They did play Thieves,,,but, uh...

...oh well, saw "Ministry" once...and Thieves sounded slightly less Metal and slightly more Industrial live.

  • @carrollthirteen

    I'm sure AL loved that!

He probably looked at you with disdain and cancelled any idea of playing anything old.

  • I hope not, I'd hope someone with a career path like his would have a better sense of humour about that sort of thing.

  • He's pretty dry and doesn't like his synth-pop phase.

If you chanted "Work for Love' at a Ministry concert you had to know the odds of hearing it were slim.

    This is a different Al.

  • I didn't expect to hear it, and I know he doesn't like that album, I just found it to be a funny request.

I would have loved some more Industrial stuff rather than just the Metal phase, the tour announcement said they'd play selections from their whole career. Stigmata would have been much better than a Stones cover.

  • I think it was more about flow.

I'm not sure he could from Metal type material to the synth-pop material of the early 80's. The crowd might go crazy and start throwing bottles if he went to "Work for Love" in the middle of the set.

    I would have laughed, naturally.

I love you goth chicks.........for so many reasons.

  • Well, sure, not the Synthpop, stuff, but the Industrial, especially the guitar heavy stuff like Stigmata.

I woulda loved to hear Burning Inside or So What as well, but all we got was Thieves. Everything else was Psalm69 or later.

Also:I'm not a chick, I just have my mother's face..:)

  • I haven't seen a Minisry show in forever, so I wouldn't have missed anything.

I do agree, it's a shame he won't play the older music, even the side projects from WaxTrax!

    1,000 Homo DJ's

    RevCo

    Pailhead

  • First two albums are amazing.

  • I like With Sympathy better than Psalm 69 lol...although both are awesome.

  • you are crazy... I'm sorry Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you can't even compare those two albums.

  • I once did CRACK with AL Jourgensen - go chicago!

  • This really takes me back!! Crazy how you long for a time that you tried so hard to break free from

  • Sticking pins and needles through the tiny cracks

  • my favorite track off of what I think was an underrated album.

  • And an album that was needlessly shunned by Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen!

  • If playing this album destroys the world, I will play this until the world explodes. Rerelease the god-damn album Al!

  • Mine too!!!

  • Great track, a shame they never play it live.

  • *played

Not only has Ministry disbanded but I'm undoubtedly confident that Al Jourgensen wouldn't even consider playing any material from 'With Sympathy' since their transformation into industrial metal! :-)

That's a shame though because this music will always be confined to video recordings of past live performances, studio versions, or other manifestations besides current live performances.

There are elements in live performances that create a unique, emotional feel and energy.

  • I would love to watch a Ministry tribute band play material from With Sympathy!

    One can dream!

  • lol can you imagine them playing this live now
