  • Never Again Will I Be So Captivated By One Mans Intellect & I Am Thankful For The Amazing Catalouge Of Footage He Left For Us......My Heaven Is Being Able To Watch The Hitch Whenevr I Get Lonley!

  • We will miss Christopher Hitchens... what a man! To sum matters up... heaven wouldn't be the same without him!

  • Guys stop saying RIP it means hope your peaceful in the after life, if you want to respect him say you will be truly missed or something :(

  • ONE OF MY HEROES...HE SAID THINGS THAT I WANTED TO ARTICULATE BUT COULDN'T !!

  • R.I.P. I will truly miss you.

  • I'm glad Hitchens got to so many people, his legacy will live on for ages.

  • ahhh! i wanna cry!

  • I cant watch. Its too sad.

  • HITCHENS IS SIMPLY AWESOME

  • Why is it the good ones who get prematurely offed, while the fucktards thrive and proliferate?

  • Get well Mr. Hitchens. Thank you for making this one a better world

  • THE CORPORATE CARTELS (married monopolies) control the content of the propaganda that's dressed up as news. Truly the dawning of Aquarius is the new age of indoctrination.

  • I really hope, he will survive! Get well soon, Christopher.

  • its time like now i wish there was a god so hitchens could have some justice and the tumor would disappear. the amount of enlightenment this man is responsible for should be acknowledged by god if he existed and justify a miraculous recovery. alas there is no god so i am worried that we will lose one of the greatest minds in human history

  • This man is great.

  • This man, simply put, is a GIANT. I don't have his intellectual capability, but I hope there are people who do; who are willing to continue to be the beacon or rationality in this world. We desperately need people like this.

  • I am a christian and I find Mr. Hitchens to be a wonderful, gifted person. I find it appalling that other people would wish him death and an eternal punishment. I do not agree with his philosophy and am saddened by his rejection of Christ.

  • Is he drinking a glass of scotch? What a dude :)

  • I have to believe that it is far, far easier to die if one has become convinced in life that divine judgment and punishment are not awaiting one on the "other side".

  • If I weren't an atheist, I'd be praying for him, but since that's beyond my ability, I'll just say this: I'm rooting for you, Christopher. You're a personal role-model like I've never had. Keep fighting the good fight.

  • What an inspiration!

He has done more good for humanity than we can imagine!

  • STAY STRONG MY FRIEND , YOU ARE A GREAT MAN.

  • Chris Hitchens is THE man! In a world where so many want freedom there are still those, who willing exchange free thought for religious indoctrination. Don't be surprised when some narrow-minded morons say it's "god's" punishment for blah...blah...blah. Speak on, Hitch!

  • @fedner31 Unfortunately, you are right, there are people who say it is God's punishment. Those people do not understand the heart of God. The Word says "it is not God's will that any should perish but that all come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.". God poured out ALL His wrath on Jesus Christ, so God isn't mad at Mr. Hitchens. His sin has been paid for. Now it is up to Mr. Hitchens to accept or reject this gift.

  • i really hope he copes well!

  • my champion

  • Inspirational man. Not only does he encourage the proliferation of free thought, but I have also just ripped up the remaining smokes in the packet.

  • A remarkably interesting man, a curious intellect, and a generous gift of content to offer to the world...

But unfortunately - in the words of Robert Anton Wilson - he seems to me a Fundamentalist Materalist. Reality tunnels are a curious thing. Regardless of all of that, he had and has a marvelous thing to offer to the plethora of ideas in this world.

  • He's beginning to look like Andrew Sullivan.

  • Hitch has helped me to stare into the darkness and try to be brave & honest with myself & others.

"Thanks" just doesn't quite encapsulate my gratitude for this gift.

  • Comment removed

  • I hope Hitchens gets many more years, he really is a wonderfully charming, intelligent and charismatic man. Thanks for posting.

  • Hang in there Hitch!

  • These kinds of videos illustrate the real value of a site like Youtube. Thank you so much for sharing it. Keep fighting, Hitch.

  • wow, i didn't know how much i admired hitchens. its only now that he may pass away that i can truly appreciate him

  • I got close to crying when I heard Hitchens' still eloquent voice strained by cancer. It is sad to see such a unique and epic figure in such a state. I just hope he recovers...both for his benefit, of course, and because he really needs to be heard by others.

Brian Lamb must be one of the worst interviewers ever, though. Besides Larry King, I don't know who else can be so dumb with their questions and with the whole progress of the interview. Brian didn't soak up a word Hitchens said.

  • This has to be an interview at the beginning of his treatment, I hope. I've seen some of his newer debate, and he looke better, I hope they were newer. Get well Hitch the world needs you, and I need you as my muse to fight the good fight against religion.

  • A great individual.

I especially liked his comments on smoking/drinking and doing it all over knowing. That's being honest.

Without his hatred we would not know of him, so it really cant be that bad of a thing in a well reasoning person.

You do look like shit good sir, hope your self-image shines brighter than ever.

    *lights one up*

  • As a believer, I've often disagreed with much of Hitchen's views about our existence. Nevertheless, I've admired him as a figure of great virtue, and I've usually had the highest respect and appreciation for his honesty, passion, and humanitarianism. Ultimately, we value the same things, and I wish him the same as I do for myself (I'm confident he'd do the same).

  • @eskayp101 I have no doubt he would.

  • It really is terrible watching such a great man like this fall apart from an illness and not be able to help in some way.

Lets all just pray.....Anyway lets keep putting money into the science too cure this disease in all its forms and stop relying on the make believe gods of the stone age.

  • Incredible interview! Thank you so much for this upload!

  • i hadn't seen him in such bad shape. this is so depressing

  • Hitchens is such an inspiration to me. I once was a quiet and reserved athiest but because of him, I talk openly and freely about my atheism (when asked). I've even been confrontational to religious bigots.

  • did he take a sip of whiskey after coughing? That's just awesome.

  • this is profoundly sad. almost makes me wish there were miracles.

  • @thepickletrain it actually makes me quite glad there are no miracles. I hate to put words in his mouth, but i hope he'd understand when i say, a miracle at this point in his life would be quite demeaning to him.

  • @qtzlctl2012 i value his life over his integrity

  • @thepickletrain he doesn't. and it's not about his integrity. It would be about god being an ass

  • @qtzlctl2012 oh, ok

  • @qtzlctl2012 i just don't think i could tell his loved ones that i'd rather him die than miracles be real

  • @thepickletrain I could very easily tell them i'd rather he die...because the alternative is eternal north korea

  • @qtzlctl2012 there are no miracles, so it doesn't matter anyway

  • I love you Chris! You mean the World to Us!!!!!!

    Pablo

  • Thanks Crucie. I truly enjoyed the last 54 minutes. Mr. Hitchens' outlook gives me strength in areas I never thought possible. We all die and we will all die differently. Live your lives with passion. Give back whenever possible. 'Leave a trace' for humanity. Mr. Hitchens has done just that. And to the religious, who grasp their beliefs with white knuckles because permanent death is too much to face...this, is how it is done. Dignified, fearless. We should all hope to be as strong.

  • A prince among men. I know everone's fallible and I shouldn't have heroes but fuckit, he's a true hero

  • What a rave man he is.

  • I have been atheist for a couple of decades.I only found out about Hitchens a few years back. Since then I have read up on the guy. It's hard for me not to come to the conclusion that life has gotten easier because of him, and people like him for me personally. Now I find myself feeling like I've found out a favorite Uncle is very ill.

  • Christopher is so lucid and sharp. I do like his way of thinking. Especially liked what he said about the pathetic Mother Teresa.

He looks slimmer and younger, but looks can be deceptive. I know he is suffering, but he accepts his situation so well.

Thanks for uploading and keeping us up to date.

  • Man... this is hard to watch... but thanks for uploading it...

  • I can't help but tear up while watching this. He truly is one of the great men of our time. I respect this man so much so that I would easily offer to take his place if only to prolong his time in what we know to be this existence. The world will be a much dimmer place without him. With that said there is still a glimmer of hope, as there always should be, because of the amazingly talented doctors that are looking over him. I wish you the best Mr. Hitchens. Fight and live a long happy life.

  • @Beeht And he'd surely decline your offer.

  • @Beeht

I managed to repress my emotions throughout the interview only to have my "stiff upper lip" demolished by your comment. Needless to say I agree implicitly with your logic and sentiment.

    'Thanks' for making me blub.

  • @Beeht I love you words - I feel the same but could not express them in such a wonderful way. I'm tearing up now!

  • Thumbs up if you plan to help carry the torch that Christopher Hitchens has lit.

  • @Prytanus : Already there.

  • I know that the heart is just an organ made of muscle fibre but I swear I could feel mine tighten when Christopher said his cancer had metastasis and had reached his lungs and is now in stage 4.

Good thing his overall health is ok and his spirit his still lucid and rational and I hope he reacts well to new treatments.

    Go Hitch!

  • @mestrini it probably really did. Emotions are real chemical, physical things that philosophical materialists like you and me must not ignore but should try to better understand why (and how) we have these weird amazing feelings we have. They too evolved like everything else about us.

  • :-(

It appears that he is nearing the end.

  • @rchodges My sentiment too. :(

  • @rchodges : Actually he's commented before that he has good days and bad days. Perhaps he's just been caught in a bad day.

  • I heart hitchens

  • Hitchens is awesome.
