Ok, for general info: to bypass paying $300K, you just need to pogo one of the monkeys while they are on that side of the screen.

You can indeed go around paying the statue.. just lure an enemy to the area the statue's in and use it to pogo up to the high vine :P

Also, if you're looking for easy cash in the Amazon, there are two hidden treasure areas you missed. One is underground to the left of the first secret you found. The other one requires you going up through were Launchpad was standing. If he prompts you to leave, just say "No" and you'll be able to go by him and get some treasure. :D

Great game. The Gameboy version was one of my first videogames.

Also, if you lure one of the enemies before the statue, you can jump on his head and reach the vine at the ceiling without paying 300000.
