  • I forgot how much I hate Pope's voice. It's like bricks and gravel in a low-speed blender.

  • You're truly an 80's child if you can remember that they bleeped out "screwin'" for radio airplay, as it was too vulgar. My how times have changed!

  • Carole Pope was & still is, my favourite vocalist of all time. She has a unique voice that this song doesn't begin to do justice to. She hangs in NYC most as of late, has a MySpace & Twitter account (maybe even Facebook but not my cup of tea) & has just released a new album titled Landfall on iTunes. .......& yes it was wild, from someone who has seen Rough Trade hundreds of times during the 70s, 80s & 90s, they were always the best bar band playing on any given night.

  • This singer had a great way with words! She was intense!

  • @jamesbondaygee female rock and roll singers are so hawt!!!

  • @Bdozer67 'Sceaming'

  • for some reason I taught it was a man that sang this lol I was so wrong

  • Anybody make a Frank N' Furter/ Rocky Horror Picture Show comment yet? If not, Wow, doesn't she look like Tim Curry in Rocky Horror Show?

  • There's got to be some Bowie influence there somewhere ... Great stuff !

  • @frankspinz They just share the gender bender thing in common, .. . but thats about it .

  • good tune

  • Shes a cool, blonde, steaming byutch, you can hear...her stilletoes click..I want her so much it makes me sick

  • Woah that is actually a woman, not a drag queen. I bet she'd kick my ass and seduce my mum for saying that.

  • Salute to one of the female legends of Classic Rock. K-97.

  • Carol Pope FUCKIN ROCKS

  • I remember this song so well. They used to bleep out the "bad" parts on the radio, but in recent years whn I've heard it they don't... (This is probably the first time I ever heard the term "cream my jeans".)

  • Tell me that is not a young Uma Thurman???? I love this tune, and I really dig Uma - wow!

  • @johnny666999er

I understand your love, two completely different people.

  • This has to be one of the worse songs eve made.

  • Hey, anybody notice how much Elijah Wood Carole Pope? He should parody this song, funny stuff!

  • Carole pope is major hOTTTT

  • this reminds of St.James in Toronto or Jarvis Col. or Parkdale High

  • "she's a cool, blonde scheming bitch!" BEST OPENING LINE IN A SONG EVER!!!!!!!! sets the fun to follow so sinfully deliscious :-)

  • i am most totally addicted to this song right now, i fucking love the cream my jeans part. they don't even block it on the radio!

  • My mom loves this song. She turned it up in the car, and it was really awkward at the "cream my pants" part lol

  • @SupernaturalLover67 And now it's even more awkward because she was thinking about me!

  • 0:50 ;) love it!!! xDDD

  • Once I saw Carol at the supermarket here in little italy/toronto. She was a bit of a bitch to me when I said hello but I still love her : )

  • Good video but at first I thought the singer was a man in drag.

  • @strangeuniverse1 tranny...LOL

  • This was the song I awoke to on my very first day of High School in 1986.

  • @jedijs

Count me for another!! That's so funny!

  • Seen RT in Regina back in 82-83 at a cabaret ,at the Centennial Auditoruim, Centre of the Arts. I was so drunk I spewed everywhere, and we made so much racket after yelling to her to show us her tits, she told us to fuck off, that made us drink harder. Great time. Oh the memories, with good mates Darrel, Steve, Jeff, Greg, and Lorne.

  • @1feral1 WELL, WHEN ONE SINGS LIKE A SLUT, WHAT ELSE SHOULD SHE EXPECT, RESPECT!....THIS SONG WAS NOT PLAYED ON SOME RADIO STATIONS IN CANADA WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT DUE TO ITS GRAPHIC SEXUAL NATURE...........I REMEMBER THIS WHEN I WAS BUT 15YRS OLD.

  • I LOVE ANDROGENOUS MUSIC <3

  • damn this sucks so much

  • Someone please upload "What's The Furor about The Fuhrer?"!!

  • Twisted Sister--The Later Years

  • I knew I knew this. But from where? :)

  • Saw Rough Trade in concert back in 83, they opened for Bowie. It was a good show.

  • I saw them open for Roxy Music at Massey Hall in the 70's. Didn't appreciate how good they really were.Carol, you're a legend.

  • high school days awesome

  • i had a rough trade cass. tape in 9th grade igot from my punk rock older brother it had some bitchin songs on it. one was vertigo.... i wish i still had that tape

  • Saw her at Algonquin College in the early 80's........her and kevin Staples...fantastic!

  • 1:17 Jerry sienfeld.

I'd a tapped her ass, shed never of gone back to women. ;P

  • @ijuststoledurvideo Doubt she would've let you, dude.

  • Someone please post What's The Furor About The Fuhrer!

  • She smakek me cream them beans when she look what whay

    She's a high school high school;

    Cnfidential.

She makes me walk down the hal;l

  • Being a tri-sexual, who draws the line at goats, I really get steamed up watching stuff like this...

  • As I look through the comments, people say Carol looks like Bea Arthur, Peaches, and Sylvester Stallone. I gotta say, all I can see when I watch this video is Tim Curry. It's INSANE

  • @mudkipziherduleik - I always think the exact same thing *LOL*

  • She makes me cream my jeans when she comes my way! (They always censored that part on the radio...)

  • Lesbians FTW!

  • Great song! Funny lyrics, love how it starts off especially!

  • I love this song, but this video makes me extremely uncomfortable, because of Carol pope

  • Carole is wearing Lipstick in this video!

  • I found about this because of the song Pleasure Principal by lezzies on x. I love both of them. -3

  • I grew up listening to Rough Trade since my mother was a hardcore fan...no wonder I ended up gay! I blame this song! haha

  • Comment.

  • Avoid Freud.Good one.

  • Rough Trade :D

  • Thanks for posting. This hit the rock radio stations in Baltimore in Spring 1983.

Like all the people who commented, I thought I was the only one who remembered this song! Thanks again, good memories.

  • What? That's not Gino Vanelli?

  • Carol looks like Bea Arthur when Bea was younger. Uuuuuugh

  • This must have been really wild to hear on the radio in 1980, a lesbian openly singing about how horny she is LOL

  • The facial expressions are amazing.

  • What is on her T--shirt?

  • i loved this song when i was growing up in 80s and still do love it..but i had nooo idea that the singer was a woman!!

  • get over it she is an eighties lady that went the other way go for it wonderful in concert

  • exactly what this song is supposed to be about? It's catchy yet strange and heard it on the radio more often back in the 90's.

  • I'm not trying to be dissflattering here, but I've gotta say, she kind'a looks like Sylvester Stallone's gender-bender sister to me. Still, she is a tallented singer, I'l give her that.

  • always thought that the lead singer in this video was a man..ahaha

  • I thought this album was great. Great for the time,, really defines the early 80's.

    Very different for sure.

  • The Adjuster

  • Dagmar

  • I am like carol pope. I am free.

  • I remember for awhile, everytime you saw Carole you saw the bald guy! I remember seeing the chick on the video on CBC, but I cannot remember her name! She's a hottie though!

  • Always thought this was a trippy song...

  • Carol Pope has very big hands and feet, the sure sign of a guy who had an operation to be a woman. I had Carol in my taxi many times here in Toronto. I think Dusty Springfield lived in Carol's apartment for a period of time, close to the gay clubs downtown.

  • are you from the Enquirer mag or something, because you are insulting a talented artist. even if she did get operated, who cares. she still great

  • she looks like peaches!

  • PS - never saw the video ever until now. 79/80 was a bit before videos on tv took - or maybe i was just too young. anyway thanks for uploading this!

  • Damn, Bea Arthur was hot when she was young...

  • Awesome comment bro!!! lol for sure!

  • LMFAO

  • @jdotglenn LOL LOL too funny !!!

  • @jdotglenn ROTGLMAO!

  • @jdotglenn he he he

  • @jdotglenn lol

  • @jdotglenn Bea Arthur! SNORT! Bwaahaahaahaahaahaaaa!!!

  • I heard a great interview on Definitely Not the Opera with Carol Pope, and she said this song was about a real High School Siren that just lit up the place with raw sexuality.

  • Before Madonna and Brittany and all the lipstick Lesbians......there was Carol Pope...The Queen of Androgenous Music......way ahead of her time!

  • @sammycircle - And before Carol Pope, there were others. You don't have to put down other singers to make Carol Pope look good.

  • @alukuhito Spears and Ciccone are singers?! Well oil beef hooked!

  • @sammycircle Absolutely!! She is a pioneer for sure....And CANADIAN I'm proud to say!

  • @sammycircle Way ahead of her time is an understatement, This is so ahead of it's time, it's almost proof of time travel!

Even in the 2000s, this would barely be acceptable!

  • @sammycircle And before Michael Jackson grabbed his crotch, Carole Pope grabbed hers.

  • @sammycircle WITCH LIPSTICK LESBIAN´S???

  • Confidentially....................................................

Cederbrae Collegiate Institute in Scarborough (Toronto) turned out 2 great female rockers; one being Carol Pope and the other being Sheron Alton, stunningly beautiful and super talented guitarist/vocalist with the top notch band "Toronto" They walked the halls of that school simultaenously. Intertesting coincidence no??

  • Nice

Does anyone have Crimes of Passion, please upload that, I'm jonesing for that track.

  • carol pope is the rough in rough trade...these guys knew how to push people's buttons with their music...classic

  • "M" on the datalounge "Suzanne Malveaux" thread needs to see this brilliant piece... if she wants to continue pretending to be a lesbian.

  • A friend of mine had recently sent me Anti-Diva & I read it. At first, I didn't care for Rough Trade or Carole Pope, but after reading the book....well, I'd do Carole. That bitch is pretty damn witty & funny. If Dusty went there, well, there's got to be something special about Carole Pope.

  • This song is dedicated to Elena from Ronnie

  • Back when the Canadian Music Scene was entering it's true breakout period. In the late 60's and 70's there was of course The Guess Who, Neil Young , BTO, A Foot In Cold Water and The Band, but the start of the 80's was the beginning of Canadian Music Artists getting true recognition.

  • LOVE POTION @............9

  • DAGMAR, a HIGHschool confidential

its 2009, and this song sounds so fresh

  • The lyrics are...rofl

  • 1:59 - 2:03 -- Funniest song line EVER!!

  • Thanks Ronnie for dedicating this song to me

  • In 1968, Laura Nyro sings "oo who stole Mama's heart and cuddled in her garden? darlin Emmie, oo la la la..." In 1975, Patti Smith watches a "sweet young thing humping on a parking meter...oh, she looked so good...oh, she looked so fine...I'm going to... ah ah make her mine."

That aside, there is nothing as graphic as "she makes my body twitch...I want her so much, I feel sick...it makes me cream my jeans, when she comes my way."

It's ground breaking as explicit same-sex lyrics

  • I know. I heard it on the radio today and they didn't bleep out those words, I couldn't believe it.

Carol Pope is one ugly woman though. And the chick she is singing about needs to eat once a week or so, she is anorexic and sick looking.

Still, this song stands out, unique for sure and back in the day, it was WAYYY out there.

  • Hi ngfxoxo: Thanks for the feedback. BTW I think she spells her name Carole. e.g. Carole es una diosa. She was out and proud as a lesbian in 1980. An alleged lover of Dusty Springfield. She has an autobiography "Anti Diva" Check out her homepage. There is a guestbook where you can pay homage to one of the great Diva's of our age, and guess what ?She's not even bisexual. Rabdrake

  • you need to see carole live... she is a hot butch and is umber sexy.... but if you are not a dyke then you may not "get" her looks , You should see the 'femmes' melt around her.....

  • Can anyone tell me if Rough Trade achieved any popularity outisde Canada?

  • Cream her jeans LOL

  • great 4 filling a school dance floor

  • THIS SONG ROCKS !!!

TIM CURRY IS SO TALENTED ... Just kidding ... Carole Pope has a terrific voice and presence ...

When I saw this once on a record compilation commerical way back in the day, I always thought the lead singer was a man ...

  • Wow, what a cool song. I remember watching it on SCTV when they were the musical guest. Thanks for posting!

  • I remember back in the day she was on MUCH MUSIC (when it was watchable) with Erica Ehm and they were announcing the Junos and Erica goes "What do you hope to win?" and Carole goes "Slut of the year" - My mom groaned, I laughed.. those were the days!

  • such a kool song!

  • carol pope, never got the recognition she deserved.she was the original diva before madonna, and brittney and maria.she was a hardcore before any other female.i feel she deserves the recognition of being the grandmother of female shock music/.rock on carol.listened to you when you were famous in toronto 30 years ago.

  • Well said

  • Awesome song!!! Never heard about this song before today. She sounds like Johnette Napolitano from Concrete Blonde just a bit.

  • Oh yea and it might only be me, but she reminds me of Tim Curry a lot! Especially with his appearance in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the way he acts. There is some similarity here.

  • Its the lips and hair mostly. Then the way she sings some lines is the same wings he sings. Its very well done, but I must say she is better than he was.

  • I can't find this song anywhere where I can download it.

    It makes me really sad.

  • itunes and amazon both have this song now among other rough trade albums

  • i remember this!!! woot!

  • lol its Dr. Frankenfurter!

  • lmfao, I was thinking the exact same thing. XD

  • LMFAO! Thats amazing. soo true. ;)

  • I got to see them in June '04 @ Koolhaus in Toronto. Didn't even know they were playing--found out at last minute. Stunning show, but mellow enough that there were a couple of people in wheelchairs right at the stage. Kleach45--what makes you want to sound like an ignorant meatheaded fool? Recognizing Carole and Kevin doesn't mean tearing down Joan Jett or Pat Benatar, so why go that way?

  • ah the memories....... i loved this song

  • The best.......

  • I remember this one from the old SCTV show... early 80s

  • On "Pre-teen World" where they performed this song, I believe.

    LOL

    Man I'm old.

  • this song should be covered and brought back

  • Lesbians on Ecstasy did a response song for this one. It's called The Pleasure Principal.

  • we used to have lunch with Kevan S. at the Metropolitain Rest. in the mid 80s and he was such a gentle soul to speak with...they had the baby round the summer of ,what, 1987,or so,,,we'd rap wit'em on Queen St. on Sunday afternoons, when it was warm and my daughter Brooklynn would play arounf with his daughter...great mems!

    Thanx,

    Da Girlz!!

  • i would totally do her

  • hi there , i once told "ms pope" that i had 'good photos'

    brush off, we expect less.

    from the queen, of all.

good gracious, i'm still in love

    and suffer to this day

    and some more i think.

as mad does so shell i

  • Crazy sexy song!

  • Carol kiss my whip

  • Phew! Gets stronger every time I watch it!

  • Michael Ironside is great on keyboards.

  • lol, it does look like him haha

  • Carol Pope the First lady of Punk

  • Awesome!

  • If you can get hold of Rough Trade the album, (direct to disc 1976), do so. Has Birds of A Feather on it and others. Highly recommended.

One of the better bands live - had the pleasure more than once back in the days ~

    ==

  • A wonderful song by a great Canadian talent, with one of the great album titles of all times. Carole Pope has never been credit as being one of the great rock talents in music. She could hold her own with Joan Jett and Pat Benetar on any stage

  • jf29bmd, the group sucked big time, it went no-where. If you were a DJ you would lose money. She could hold her own with Joan Jett and Pat Benetar, wow you really were a 60's druggie.

  • I love Carol's facial expressions...

  • I think that's the guy from "Rocky Horror Picture Show"

  • THATS A NEGATIVE

  • check out her video for weapons

  • I honestly don't remember the lyrics being that dirty...mind you I was around 8 years old when I first heard the song, so I probably just didn't get most of it!

  • that dude looks like a lady

  • That's because she is. She's a serious Lesbo!

  • gender roles are losing out. the question is, will they make it easier for us, lay down and accept their death, or will they force us to throw that final stone?

  • This song was way ahead of its time. "...cream my jeans" - would you get away with that even today?? Remember, this came out in 1980...almost 30 years ago. Think how 'taboo' this subject would have been back then....this is an amazing song.

  • I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

  • la version de esta cancion que mas mola es la de

carole pope que ademas sale en queer as folk

  • DAGMAR!!! Look that name up Grasshoppa...

  • Me Too!

  • Love this song!!

  • I'm glad to see this is the unedited version: they did an edited version of the song for AM radio ("She makes me (beep!) my jeans..." It was a huge hit, and there was some discussion at the time (this was 1979, remember) about what the song was *really* about. This wouldn't be an issue now.

I saw Rough Trade several times in the early 1980s. They were even better live. Carole Pope ran her fingers through my hair once, and I had a hard time deciding when I should wash my hair again. :-)

  • Are you a woman and how long was your hair when she did that and what colour is it?

  • Which would you like me to be? (favourite smart-ass answer used by an old friend who changed from messed-up boy to very nice girl)

It's your sick fantasy, not mine...

  • Just trying to get a better picture of your story, that's all.....and appreciation for women's long hair is not "sick".

  • I - regrettably - only became aware of Carole Pope's existence a few days ago while reading 'Dancing With Demons', the Dusty Springfield biography, in which she's mentioned. So, curious, I checked out YouTube. So glad I did, she's great!! It must have been a kick seeing them live. What's staggering is that 25 years later (the 2005 street gig where she sings this, also on YouTube) she's still got that brilliant voice intact! It must have been a thrill meeting her. :-)

  • the first time I heard this song I never forgot it, now I found it, yea I almost had a wreck that first time...

  • That's a girl... oh wow.. i always thought it was a dude...

  • Great band, saw them at Roskilde in the early 80s some time, forget the year, but it made me go out and buy AF and FTWTY.

  • cream my jeans. haha

  • awsone song no one can sing it better :[)

  • Great Lesbian Athem.

  • Anthem !

  • Carole Pope is the creepiest female vocalist I've ever seen/heard in my life. At least when Turbonegro sing from the point of view of a homosexual rapist, it's a joke; here it really looks/sounds like she means it. It didn't stop me from buying "The Best of Rough Trade", but it may stop me from buying their individual albums.
