  • Several of these musicians are gone now and should be remembered for doing their bit to end the Cold War: Leif Uvemark, Dieter Kock, Manfred Moch, Günter Platzek, Bernd Steffanowski, Barry Roy Reeves, Kay Garner and Robert Last (note: the late Heinz Habermann wasn't on this tour, Alex Malempre sat in for him)

  • Does anyone have the entire Concert on DVD.

  • EXCELLENT video! I especially like the kid in the audience who is singing along!

Like the USSR or not, one must admit they were the "glue" that held this world together. No Islamic radicals flying planes into buildings, no real problems with Iran, etc. Oh well....we have to live with this crap today! The USSR didn't put up with crap!

BTW, sounds like "Meadowlands" is starting to play at the conclusion of James Last.

  • Does anyone know the name of the medley's last song, starting at 3:07?

  • @theotestmeister The name of that song is "La felicidad" (The happines), a song from the 60's. Palito Ortega, argentinian, is the singer. You can search in youtube la felicidad palito ortega

  • One of the best performance of James orchestra. Music brought us together it do not discriminate any race. This video show how people are people either they live in different style of living, all love music. Great show and great music. Looks everybody love and enjoying it. Salamat, (thank you in Philippine word).

  • This is the power of Music, puttig away those bloody wars. James, you do a great job.

  • It can be easy to forget that this was incendiary stuff in the USSR in 1972. A bunch of bourgeois Westerners, most of them former wartime enemies, wearing long hair and playing an orchestrated form of rock music, causing the proletariat to get overly enthusiastic and riled up. This was why the Last band were bugged and put under surveillance and hassled about their songs by the Soviet authorities.

  • I feel like crying watching this videos of James Last in the Soviet Union in 1972 (part 1 and 2). I don't know why. Maybe because I saw a lot of people that is so happy to see James Last perform. To hear his music. Truly, music is a universal language. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. Mabuhay (Long Live)!!

  • Thanks for your appreciation

  • Great to see this video.A piece of music history.Thank you for posting this clip.

  • Nice to hear that you like it

  • Note the Guy in frame 1:48 Looks like he's having the time of his life.

  • The guy in that frame was probably detained right after a concert. It's 1972, the USSR...and he was singing and enjoying "Bourgeoisie" culture...

  • @fasttrader08 He looks like Gary Kasparov

  • This is priceless to see the James Last Orchestra at there best.Feed us more.

  • A priceless video - in 1972, this type of concert was a rare experience for Russians - and you can see how they loved it!
