  • hi vipul, u can email me at pawanjalan@gmail.com, or just post a message on my youtube home page!

  • sir,

please guide .when regular practice should one use a electric guitar or no? many people have suggested me not to use electric guitar with regular daily practice.

    regards

    jasjit

  • hi jasjit ... it all depends on what u style u want to play - electric is easier to play and if u don't practice on acoustic, u may find that difficult later ....

  • Sir, why dont u use pick... is it easier play guitar without pick

  • i use a pick sometimes, but i love playing without it :)

  • @pjalan Sir don't you use pick for recording or live show as well?

  • Hello Sir ,

THANKS VERY MUCH For sharing your wonderful Knowledge :)

I have a Request to you .....Can you please use PICK for strumming as playing with fingers gives very absurd sound

    Regards

    Nitesh

  • thanks for your lovely feedback, nitesh

i don't use any special techniques, just imagine the pick there instead of my fingers ... no change in strumming pattern !!

  • buddy u r too good man, kip up the good work,, great to find hindi song lessons.. god bless

  • thanks for your feedback :)

  • @pjalan hi Pawan.. i too am a very big fan of this song.."Tanhai me Basi hai Zindagi" by Lucky Ali from the album Kabhi Aisa Lagta Hai.

Pleeeez pleeez pleeeez tutor the exact chords...i think the song in not in standard tuning...hence i am not able to slice the chords... pleez help.. God bless u..

  • pawan what is the finger position u used in e flat major on 6th fret

  • hi pawan

try last finger on 6th fret of 5th string

    chord is X6534X

  • Dear Pawan

I would not let you down by saying your are simply fabulous coz you are beyond any such minor compliment.. I have been kidding with guitar for quite a while but struggling hard with strumming pattern, I mostly use my thumb and first and middle fingers but rhythm goes flatly same with all songs....it doesn't sound the way you show....how can I get it right????

  • for beginners i wud strongly recommend using a pick, u get a clearer sound and can focus on getting ur left and right hand movements right. u can switch to my style later, it takes a lot of practice to get the sound right - in fact, i still use a pick when playing with other musicians ...

  • Thanks Pawan, in fact I have always been a beginner though I have been playing this instrument for couple of years as have had no proper schooling on that. I always do rhythm in my way coz I find the timing very hard. Is my way of rhythm a wrong way? My second query is does an electro- acoustic guitar provide good sound like normal acoustic one without any amp coz I am gonna buy one here without sound box (amplifier), it is horrifically expensive to buy both at a time in London.

    Tahseen

  • i have to see ur style of playing to be able to comment on it, send me a video link if u wish to !! on the guitar question, i use a takamine eg341sc which is great both with the amps and without them - it depends on ur model, try playing as many as u can at the store, then decide ....

  • I am so glad I discovered you on YouTube. You are superb

  • thanks, westfield :)

  • wonderful. u r talented. aap ke bajane ki ada mere dil ko chhoo gai. fantastic. i m impressed. when i m alone i play mouth organ & if rythm is on guitar played y a highly talented person like u then the incendiary out put u can imagine. my salutes 2 u. thanx.

  • aapki baatein bhi dil ko chhoo gayee!!

why don't u post some videos with ur mouth organ ...

  • pawan ji i wll post but after sm time. my harmonica is quite old & sm notes get fatiqued & resultant punch reqd is not so promising. i wll get a new harmonica frm delhi & wll post. i m of the view that while playing it shud xactly coincide with the original song & there shudnt b an iota of slip missing note & deviation 2 the original song. i want rythm on guitar (esp bass) kango but here people r not so interested & those who r, r self centred jealous otherwise i wll use keyboard. thanx.

  • hi jagjit

    i agree with your views!

do keep me posted on your progress

    take care

    pawan

  • this lesson is an absolute treat for amateurs like me. i live overseas and unfortunately personal lessons are unaffordable. thanks this sounds just perfect. still practicing to get the timing right with strumming..i am sure i have watched this video over a hundred times :) Prashant

  • hey prashant !!

glad u found my videos useful :)

    god bless

    pawan

  • Pawan sirji please pick se bajao.. hand se learn kerna mushkil hai

  • hi sachin :)\

i don't use any special playing style with my fingers ...imagine the pick is there, and the hand movements will be exactly the same ...

  • pawan ji apne to mar hi dala...bar bar comment karne ka dil karta hai....actually i live with music...

  • vishnu ji, aapke feedback ne dil chhoo liya, thanks my friend :)

  • yaar u r toooooo good

  • shukriaa !!

  • Outstanding! Thank you! :)

  • nice song!

looks like this is a remix of the original from yeh vada raha! send me the link, just to be sure ...

  • Thank you! I needed this lesson.

  • you're welcome :)

  • sir i want to ask u one question

is tht frm where to strum the strings??

is it where the round hole is given??

  • depends on the sound you want to produce,

that's the best place for a regular sound, try playing closer to the bridge and the sound is sharper ...

  • Hi Pawan, i saw many of your lessons, the strumming patrons and chord executions are awesome... these lessons are a great help to all music enthusiasts....

  • thanks, madhur

glad my videos are helping you

    god bless

    pawan

  • Hi sir just wanted to ask something- is Bb same as A# and Eb same as D#? got confused over here a little.

  • anchal it's the same..

  • thanks for responding, anand :)

  • hi Sir,

Can you just suggest the easiest way to learn plucking strings with fingers, as it sounds awesome

  • what i am doing is simply hitting the strings with all my fingers instead of using a pick! plucking is a different technique altogether which i am not good at !!

  • for plucking u need to know someTHING...its called PIMA techniquw....p means pulgar i.e thumb,i means indice means first finger after thumb,m means medio i.e middle finger, and a stands for anular means 3rd finger...now pluck 6th 5th and fourth string from P ,3rd string with I ,2Nstring with M and first string with A....now do follwing exercises PIMA,PAMI,PIMAMI,PAMIMI and keep on making ur own patterns P is used for root base note of the chord.example 6th string in g chord ....bye

  • hey.........thnx....btw it's achal.

  • thanks 4 the thanks achal

  • hello sir i am posting for first time.

my request is that can you post the chords of song "Na jaane kyu" of the band "Strings".

    plzz

  • hi jeet

i am not taking requests at this moment as i am busy with some new ideas - but i will check out your requested song for sure ...

    take care

    pawan

  • wow awesome....

  • thanks :)

  • u play beautiful guitar will teach me i am a beginer how would i get very early

  • internet is an excellent resource for beginner lessons - but nothing better than getting a good teacher to get your basics right - find one in your area!!

  • pawan sir...i gt a guitar last yr and in the meantime i hv changed 4 teachers :( .. nw u r my 5th one..and i hope i'll definitely learn frm here..am trying to learn bars but can u pls play these chords without bar also ?

  • hope i survive in your list :)

u can use a capo on the first fret, and play it as if it's in A major - that is, if you want to play in the original scale - or simply play and sing along in A !!

  • are its nt u sir..i hope i survive in ur list..my prob is timings..so this gives me flexibility complete..well i will go with the bar only..bt playing a Eb on 6th..these ones need a bit of practice..so tht i'll take on 3rd fret only..w/o bar..

  • take it easy! do what's most comfortable to you :)

  • sir will you help me out to play ek shaqs by abhijeet sawant

  • sweet song, but i won't be doing a video for this one - very straight strumming - do u need help with the chords ??

  • hi pavan can you please give me the leads of hotel california first and last part please.

  • it's a favorite, but sorry i can't help u with lead !!

  • i have been trying to play the strumming pattern with a plectrum...but i think using fingers give a more smoothing n vibrant sound.......gr8 job man.....really inspiring to get such a teacher....

  • thanks, somyen :)

it also depends on your guitar, and lots of practice to get the right sound - once u get it, it's fun playing that way when you are alone

but on stage, i prefer to use a plectrum for the clear, crips sound that must match the levels of other instruments !!

    take care

    pawan

  • hello ,,,,,you are great man,,,,,i just want to learn how u strum with fingers,,,,please can u show that ,,,please please,,,

  • the basic concept is same as that a plectrum - just that i use all my fingers at the same time - gives a softer sound, but richer!!

  • hi sirji... still waitin for yr response

  • my apologies :)

i can't recall your question, cud u send me your note again pls ??

    take care

    pawan

  • Brilliant is all i can say sir... This strumming helped me get the Doob Dooba strumming also... Thanks a ton..

  • whew, glad that worked - i did not want to post that technique on both videos ... :)

  • can u please adjust the camera so we can see the full fret...u're videos are sooooooo helpfull..

i won't be doing a video for this, but i can u send the chords, hope that works for you :)

    pawan

  • I appriciate your hard work for explaining the strumming patterns. All other tutorial leave strumming in dark but you are the one who always make sure that beginners too get that. As always its "Awesome". <<<< Its copy pasted for your videos only.

  • thanx as always, rohan :)

most people post videos to showcase their talent - that's their objective - and youtube is a perfect medium for that.

my objective is to teach - so i have to do justice to that - and youtube is helping me as well ... :)

    take care

    pj

i've got that request from many folks, difficult to explain in a short email, has to be discussed and explained face-to-face.

am planning to do general lessons soon, might show it there ...

    take care :)

    pawan
