To all the people whining that she wasn't around in the 80's: I was in my late teens at the end of the 80's which was the height of bthe big hair era and can say from having been there, she nailed it. No, she didn't have the volume as big as it could get, but then again she has fine hair. The look she has is what people who had fine hair had. I can look through my old yearbooks and see many girls (and guys) with fine hair whose look was very similar.

@RazorFriendly Yeah, you can see after she back-brushes her hair it falls right back down as she messes with it. I've got the same problem, dreaded my hair and it fell out as soon as I went to wash it. She shoulda sprayed it first, so when it was backcombed it "glued" itself there. Works a little better.

This is definately a good try, but I lived in the 80s, as a teen, and you didn't do big hair unless you didn't wash it. Most of the girls I knew and I all washed our hair every other to every 2 days and we got some great 80s hair. But, honestly, I love watching videos of girls who were either not born in the 80s or were young girls in the 80s tell me how I did my hair in the 80s! The makeup was good...but only found in videos...NOT everyday. And blow drying upside down = BIGGER HAIR! :)

@MIORIGAMI You CAN actually! Try your local dollar store (like "Family Dollar", "Dollar Tree", etc.), I found fresh cans of AquaNet a couple of weeks ago. Not a fan of the flakes it left nor how the minute you got in the shower the AquaNet disolved w/water into this sticky, bitter substance, you had to close you eyes, and *especially* your mouth, it tasted HORRIBLE! That stuff took forever to rinse out, you needed a pre-shower shower. Could hold up through a class-5 hurricane though! GOOD TIMES!

Wrong, wrong WRONG! Take it from an 80's lady..if you have long hair or short, it's all about the PUFF and managing it. We used to get it by getting a "loose perm" then getting out of the shower, semi drying it, add mousse, then blow dry the parts you wanted "lift" to upside down. Then you would tease it out and manage it with hairspray....but it ALL started with a great "loose perm"!!! Make up is close, just not so pulled back to the hairline, only David Bowe did that.

my hairstylist taught me to blowdry my hair upside down. it works really well... and for synthetic wigs or extensions you can curl them on a cold roller and spritz it with a dash or hairspray and it will be curly...

Actually shes right - follicle is the part of the skin where the hair grows from, whereas cuticle refers to the many overlapping layers of dead keratin that make up the hair shaft. Its confusing because we think of nail cuticles, which is the area at the base of the nail.
