A firestarter and a bic. Both are compact and light. Have a back up for something as critical as fire; heat-rescue-water. Also don't ever plan to use your shoe laces for anything but keeping your shoes on. Extra cordage IS shoe lace material. Keeping your landing gear 100% ready is good.
If you'd still like to have a line in the water you can use the bark off of young elm/maple trees as line and the thorns off of the honey locust tree as hooks and a rock as a sinker. In my opinion it works better than modern fishing gear but what do you expect from a half blood cherokee
I'd say drop the fishing stuff. Fish traps work while you aren't, I'd also say drop the fire starting material and throw some a magnesium block in there along with a few .22 rounds (nothing takes a spark quite like black powder or magnesium shavings) and go pliers!! You can cut nearly anything with a knife that you can with scissors. Great vid and kit!
I like the smallness but think it could be a bit better. Replace the lighter with one which you can see the fluid level in maybe. Also a heatshield blanket would be a good idea.
Not sure if paracord would work as tinder, atleast as u mentioned it????
@teb0atoz Personally, I'd rather have the Bic (although it would be nice to see your fluid level and adjust the flame) simply because they are tougher. I've broken several of the type you've mentioned (but if that's not a problem for you, more power to ya)
@jlott00 I thought of that after I posted that last comment...I get the bics that have the pictures "laminated" on and after a wile the picture comes off and you can see the fluid level, Now we just need to convince bic to make their lighters adjustable
Yes i do go to the wilderness. I have been busy with work and grad school for the last year and have not been able to go often. I recently began doing videos though, I used to just carry a disposable camera on trips. I will have videos soon from trips. I have two planned very soon.
Good man, included a first aid kit. So often overlooked.

Hoffa3381 1 year ago
@Hoffa3381 They're called "Aloksak" bags, google it and you'll find them on amazon or something. That's where I got mine from.

redsoxnation32 1 year ago
you should replace the aluminum foil with a mini loaf pan, they are way easier to boil water in
bladeking2013 1 year ago
@bladeking2013 nah no need for the loaf pan; just throw all that in a tobacco tin and ur set to go.
