This game is AWESOME! It really shows the full potential of the dreamcast... It was way ahead of it's time and is still an awesome console even now... I'm tempted to replay this Headhunter once I got my VGA modifcation done to my dreamcast :) definitely an epic game... shows the dreamcast was capable of running GTA 3... it's just they never got around to doing it :[ shame really, alot of great ports though too such as Doom :] but yeah, headhunter's amazing.

This games amazeings and the graphics are outstanding! The funny thing is people always say ps2 kicks dreamcast ass in graphics and thats not true at all this game and shenmue 2 pal proves that. not to mention that the system was not around long enough to show off its full potential. Could you imagine? headhunter looked this great and it was not even the full systems power. @RepoMadam Yeah tbh the only reason the PS2 killed the dreamcast is because of peoples past experiences with Sega's products and the price tag.. .The dreamcast was rather pricey and many others chose the ps2 over the dreamcast... Bad mistake... the Dreamcast way out-powered the PS2. Dreamcast + VGA + Broadband adapter... = Epicness. The PS2 imo wasn't that great, I still to this very day don't own one. :] nor will I buy a PS3 or an X-Box. My console days stick to my Dreamcast <3
this game was one of the best things about the ps2 as well as the dc, along side RE:CV ,alone in the dark 4 ,however a pack double dvd of shenmue 1 & 2 would've been nice on the xbox instead of just shenmue 2
@Staalstraal There's cheap games out there now and there's emulation and roms :] great thing about the dreamcast you can play backups and imports with a bootdisc or without :P
Well finally got my hands on this imported from Taiwan. The games has great graphics for the time. It does show off the DC hardware and if the system lived on longer with the enough time to program the 'DC could display some nice graphics. Its a little to puzzle oriented for me even though so far it's been straight forward. The music is also good as well. The camera a common problem back then sometimes its not where you want it but you can simply put it behind your back.

Download it ;] hehe... erm I got 10 controllers lol :D but only 8 of them are worthy. 1 had a broken analog and the other isn't official... but they're spares. I recently bought 2 new controllers off ebay for £7.99 free delivery which is an absolutely amazing price! I also managed to get 4 new vmu's for £7.49 and the guy sent me 5! 5th one wasn't new tho but the rest was!
I have both of these games for the ps2. Both are fantastic games. Headhunter: Redemption's controls take getting used to and the story, while awesome, can be pretty iffy at times due to some weird edits and plot twists. The music and sound effects are better in the sequel. The Dreamcast was a fantastic console and it still pains me to this day that Sega went out of the console market. Thankfully, they are making a comeback with great new generation games.
Nice Review, though I gotta disagree on one thing, I have played this game on the PS2 and it did leave an impression on me and it is on my top ten list of best videogames of all time
This review makes me sick! At first, I thought you were gonna explain how much better this game is than metal gear 2. But no! You focus on meaningless points. The story is better, the gameplay is better, it's much longer, and... The graphics are even better than the xbox version of metal gear 2! You're just useless!
Great review! I have probably completed this game at least a dozen times and STILL every few months I'd throw it back into the Dreamcast, sit back, immerse myself and complete it all over again. It's got a more "arcade" feel than Metal Gear Solid but I think that's why this game just feels so good on a Sega console. Playing Headhunter on the Dreamcast feels "special" for some reason. It just feels right. I have completed this more times than I have MGS. Speaks volumes. It's just such a fun game.

I'm not calling this a bad game, but i thinks its heavily flawed. Mostly the bad camera work and lack of free aiming really makes this annoying to play. If the game would have had the over the shoulder camera view during the shooting thing the whole time, then it would be better, along with a free aim
@noideac Well, the bad camera is more of a hardware limitation since the Dreamcast lacked a second analogue stick. I think the issue stands out in Headhunter mostly because it's such an exceptional game for the system. Free aim however is something I didn't miss in the game.
@gamemaster14neo Hey, thanks. The PS2 version is just a port of the original with no changes. I would recommend playing it on Dreamcast if you can, since it's the only game of its kind on Sega's last system.
I still have two Dreamcasts and own this game! It's a classic: great music, story, gameplay and voice acting. Jack Wade is a deliberate facsimile of Clint Eastwood (with good reason, there isn't a better anti-hero out there) and the voice actor pulls it off with style. Even the script does justice to quick fire Eastwood retorts, "My friends call me the Cyber Cowboy" - "The rest of us call you asshole". There's loads more too!
Man, you review all the best games, don't you. I agree with pretty much everything you said about this game. But sadly, I never made it past a section in a parking lot. I should really get this game out again and have another go.

I love this game. I bought it for my wife because it looked like it might be a Metal Gear Solid lite. But the game turned out to be so much more than that. It basically pulls together all of the themes and stereotypes present in every action movie I loved from the late 80s to the mid 90s and wraps them together in a very competent game.
I also bought the game for PS2 and have owned it for many years but I know where I can find a Pal Dreamcast copy locally. I should go and get it.
@wip3outguy7 You're right about the elements from classic action movies, Headhunter incorporates a lot of them. It also is relatively cheap these days, because it's just not that popular (although I can imagine that it's more expensive in the US than here in Europe).
Nice review. I had this for the PS2, because I live in Texas, and sold my Dreamcast by the time this came out, so I could not import it. I really think I should pick this game up for my Dreamcast I have had for almost a Year now.
I will say, that when I played it on PS2, I wished I would have had is sooner on my DC, it was really that good for its time.

@gamemaster14neo Hey, thanks. The PS2 version is just a port of the original with no changes. I would recommend playing it on Dreamcast if you can, since it's the only game of its kind on Sega's last system.

I still have two Dreamcasts and own this game! It's a classic: great music, story, gameplay and voice acting. Jack Wade is a deliberate facsimile of Clint Eastwood (with good reason, there isn't a better anti-hero out there) and the voice actor pulls it off with style. Even the script does justice to quick fire Eastwood retorts, "My friends call me the Cyber Cowboy" - "The rest of us call you asshole". There's loads more too!

sad to hear that the ps2 version is not so good as well, but i am now looking forward to that game ;)

Man, you review all the best games, don't you. I agree with pretty much everything you said about this game. But sadly, I never made it past a section in a parking lot. I should really get this game out again and have another go.

I love this game. I bought it for my wife because it looked like it might be a Metal Gear Solid lite. But the game turned out to be so much more than that. It basically pulls together all of the themes and stereotypes present in every action movie I loved from the late 80s to the mid 90s and wraps them together in a very competent game.
I also bought the game for PS2 and have owned it for many years but I know where I can find a Pal Dreamcast copy locally. I should go and get it.

@wip3outguy7 You're right about the elements from classic action movies, Headhunter incorporates a lot of them. It also is relatively cheap these days, because it's just not that popular (although I can imagine that it's more expensive in the US than here in Europe).

Nice review. I had this for the PS2, because I live in Texas, and sold my Dreamcast by the time this came out, so I could not import it. I really think I should pick this game up for my Dreamcast I have had for almost a Year now.
I will say, that when I played it on PS2, I wished I would have had is sooner on my DC, it was really that good for its time.
