@michaefa It is true that Best wasn't at his peak as long as the others. However when he was from 1966 through '71 he was as good as any you mention. Post '71 booze robbed him of his impact but in the late 60s he was as good as anyone has been.

Messi plays very similar to a George Best style but at that you would have to consider the conditions Best played in the pitches Best played on were terrible and he was still able to produce just as much as Messi so George Best is clearly the better player :D

Incredible genius, and what an entertainer (sport is an entertainment after all), but with all that talent there could have been more trophies and achievements. He wasn't always the ideal team player- e,g 2:52.. and he lacked the character and dedication to the cause over a period. But that came from being such a glamorous superstar, crosses to bear. George Best was the greatest footballer ever to walk this earth! He could do anything with a ball and DID! It was his great shame that he never got to play in a World Cup for this is what detract's somewhat from his reputation.After all it was the World Cup that made superstars of Pele and Maradona.Personally I think he was better then both of them! In the modern game only Messi comes close.So thanks for the memories George!
