Also if you had read any of the comments, you would have understood that TRD had a bug in TQ management.... in which is why I couldn't ping on the limiter.... The new flash let's me do just that with all my might.... although the truck is MUCH slower with the new flash....
Damn bro! How the hell r u peeling it out at 60-65mph! lol. Nice bro. I have A 4 dr Limited on 26's ima post some dumb shit soon lol.. Im having the supercharger installed in a few months too. A birthday gift given to myself lmao!.. Great video man!
Mine is pretty lame, and it feels waaayyy slower.... <--it doesn't bust any tires loose either, which is why I suspect that they are de-tuning the engine when in FWD<--to save the tranny/transfer case...
Nice truck bud.. You may wanna calibrate that speedo. No WAY it goes 65 in first gear. Almost every other supercharged tundra on youtube Hits about 45 to 50 before it shifts. Good trick though
OMG !! That truck is a beast !! I wonder how much did it cost to upgrade it and Also did u do any upgrade to tha transmission ?? I also wonder how many less miles per gallonu r getting . Excellent video tough !!
At the time of this video, TRD had a small bug in their tune that wouldn't allow you to ping the limiter in cold weather.. It would just fall on it's face and lose power, it would then upshift, then downshift back to it's previous gear...
Anyways... they've since fixed it... I have another video called "New TRD Flash" that demonstrates that they did in fact fix the issue...
Damn that thing has a lot of juice! After the truck I have now is payed off...I'm switching from Dodge. Seems like after 65k miles they fall on their face. I'm going with a Tundra next time.
The more you get on it(more "boost") the louder it'll whine...
This is a very mild whine compared to allot of the aftermarket SC's you see on say, GM motors.... I have a buddy with a SC'd GTO, with a MagnCharger, and it's retardedly loud....no mistaken the SC on his car... Even Ford Lightnings are fairly loud...
It's not annoying at all, when you're just driving "normally"....
It does... and it sucks... and why I had it turned off...
IMO...Traction Control is pretty gay, and meant for idiots that have no idea of what they are doing behind the wheel...
I can understand a "D-Box" or a 2 step for drag racing... But I own a "truck" and it's not purpose is not be on a drag strip... It's main purpose is to haul/tow stuff... The SC was for my own entertainment.... Coming from a M3 and Chevy SS Silvy...
Yeah...not much snow in my neck of the woods.... Besides, traction control can't do anything that I can't do for myself... In fact, TC has nearly got me into trouble when pulling out in traffic... I hit a rock and TC takes all power away and then it's slow to come back.
You're probably thinking about the ALSD system. In which as long as it works in the front on 4x4 models, I could see would be handy in the snow...
@DawgBone Point blank it's impossible to drive a 381hp or your 500hp vehicle without traction control in the snow. I'm from NJ and it's been a BEAUTIFUL!!! system. LSD is for when the vehicle is stuck in snow. Push that button and peel away that snow right down to the black top. Come spring time I will turn the entire system off.(Wonder if it will start fish tailing..would it?)You're right the traction control slows down the rpm. Not a good thing if it kicks in on on coming traffic : )
I'm letting up, and it's still breaking traction in 3rd in this video?
This is with the "old" tune... hitting the limiter would make the engine choke... The "new" tune will let you ping on the limiter all day, and not choke the engine...
In my opinion the tundra has de best outside looks, but the interior totally sucks is horrible. I think the one in the vid is a limeted becuase I test drove a 2 door (dont like 4drs) nad it was different from the inside. The limited is nice and I wish they had it and a 2 door model.
Its Amazing! They need to make this a factory option, you know like it has the supercharger on the engine from the factory, and lower it a tad and make it a bit more aerodynamic. That would be awsome!
theres a shitload of tundra owners with surging engine problems that wish like hell toyota would take the truck back or at least fix the problem, they wont!!! dont bet on your warrenty
Not many trucks cqn run this fast and maintain full factory warranty....
Also the ECU has yet to have been cracked....and aftermarket is slowly catching on... No telling what this block(in stock form) is truly capable of...
@DawgBone If you want to see a monster with the same engine as your truck, check out Chris Rado's Supra.. the 3UR-FE in the car is overbored/stroked (to 6,2L) and has twin 88mm billet turbochargers... I wonder it it's the stock block, considering it pushes 2500hp... google "chris rado supra" and it's the first result up top !
i've got an 08 4x4 love it even with the extra weight it hauls the only thing i have done to it was put the trd cold air intake gives it nice sound but need to either put a chip or exhaust cuz i can feel it wants more breathing room love my tundra!!!
@BOMBERITOSOLITARIO I guarantee you won't have as many electrical problems with the Tundra. My parents both have Chevy vehicles, a 2500HD and a TrailBlazer. Both with quite a bit of electrical issues. My granny has a Corolla that is older than both Chevy vehicles, nothing changed except brakes tires and windshield wipers.
I'm a Chevy guy as well... I actually traded in a AWD Silvy SS for this truck, and other than the AWD and captain chair style seats(which are no longer as nice in the newest), I don't miss anything.
Other than the TRD ECU re-flash, I havent had a single gremlin. Build quality is nice, and have had zero issues.
Probably not for some... But pretty impressive considering it maintains full factory warranty... Not many vehicles offer a 123hp gain of an accessory and maintain warranty
I believe they only have one for the 00-03 six cylinder trucks... Nothing for the 4.7... Being that they are still using th 4.7, I don't understand why they wouldn't consider it....
damn! that is insane and look at the wheel spin! haha I bet it's cheaper because if you ever get into an accident the other car will be destroyed and tundra will have a dent like it backed intoa while!!!
Not exactly sure what you mean. I will say that TRD just recently issued a new ECU flash(last month), that resolved an issue with cold weather performance. They also found some issues with the VSC, and it has so far, been very notable difference in performance, even when all nannies are on.Having said that. this run was with the temps right above the problematic 55F degrees.warm motor, but cold tires(why wheel spin) as now that it's 90F+ I don't get that.Check my newer vid "New TRD Reflash"
Try doing a run on a road made of concrete rather than asphalt. You should get much better traction, mainly in that second gear. Are you still sittin' on stock tires?
Why wouldn't you want the limited slip engaged?????? Then your just gonna one tire fire the shit out it....that's why your not hooking up...jeeze i couldn't imagine my x-runner open diff.....
The ALSD really isn't a limited slip on these trucks... All it does is determine which wheel is spinning, then applies brakes to it... It's not by any means a true LSD... And if you can imagine, if it were on, it would be a big mess and probably fry itself and my brakes trying to bounce between each tire that spins...
Mine has never ripped one tire... If it did, I wouldn't treat it this way... a one wheel burns are stupid hard on the spiders...
The TRD tune doesn't seem to hold it's RPM.... When I hit the rev limiter, it drops back down to 4k RPM's, tries to shift, then has to downshift again... It doesn't just hover and ping on the limiter... and why I was trying to monkey with the throttle
My Chevy Silvy SS would do this as well... but I could manually shift it with tow/haul on, and keep it at the limiter...
This Tundra is fast and fun, but I'm not trying to break it.....
ive got an 03 tundra supercharged - im not too familiar with the "TRD Tune" but ive got the unichip system so mine lets me get past red - atleast when im not in 1st gear...that tundra is a beast but that would bug the shit out of me if it dropped the rpm's like that... dumb q but would the overdrive off help ( if you have O/D )? my other buddy watching has an 07 not supercharged and seems to think it would..
Sorry for such a late reply.. I never got the notification...
My truck doesn't have OD... It is tiptronic though...
The TRD tune let's me retain my warranty... When it's done, I may consider going to an after market tune... Hopefully by then, there will be some more SC pulleys/tunes available..
no prob, i barely check my inbox to, yeah ill have to check it out a bit further, beeing able to keep the warranty would be nice.but im sure they would have the unichip c-map for your setup, they would be stupid if they dont, but it does give me the option of turning a switch to turbo mode and i have to run on only 110 octain, i cant punch under 65 otherwise my backtires completely spin. yours would be a fkn absolute monster if it had the turbo mode setup..Total Road Domination 4 life

damn! that is insane and look at the wheel spin! haha I bet it's cheaper because if you ever get into an accident the other car will be destroyed and tundra will have a dent like it backed intoa while!!!

we just put a SC on a Tundra at the dealership i work at, we could'nt tell much difference with the Trac control
GeniusCreator811 2 years ago
Not exactly sure what you mean. I will say that TRD just recently issued a new ECU flash(last month), that resolved an issue with cold weather performance. They also found some issues with the VSC, and it has so far, been very notable difference in performance, even when all nannies are on.Having said that. this run was with the temps right above the problematic 55F degrees.warm motor, but cold tires(why wheel spin) as now that it's 90F+ I don't get that.Check my newer vid "New TRD Reflash"

That is amazing I want that supercharger!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It looks like u go past the 115MPH limiter at the end how did you do that?
Nickbusta29 2 years ago
I believe it's part of the TRD programming... which lifts the speed limiters
DawgBone 2 years ago
Hey did you get a warranty with this whole install package?
hotrodcalvert 2 years ago
Yes... I bought the truck new and had Toyota install it... It retains full factory warranty..
From my understanding, the SC is now part of the truck, and locked to the VIN...

Thats freakin awesome man. Waiting to get the S/C for my Tundra. Frustrating and a long wait too.

Try doing a run on a road made of concrete rather than asphalt. You should get much better traction, mainly in that second gear. Are you still sittin' on stock tires?
ashtrey05 3 years ago
did you have traction controll on i didnt see the auto lsd light on
phatrides222000 3 years ago
I had all the nags/nannies turned off.
No traction control(ATRAC)
No limited slip(ALSD)
No Stability control(VSC)
Hold button for 3 secs, let go...hold for another 3 secs and let go
DawgBone 3 years ago
Why wouldn't you want the limited slip engaged?????? Then your just gonna one tire fire the shit out it....that's why your not hooking up...jeeze i couldn't imagine my x-runner open diff.....
stifreak14 2 years ago
The ALSD really isn't a limited slip on these trucks... All it does is determine which wheel is spinning, then applies brakes to it... It's not by any means a true LSD... And if you can imagine, if it were on, it would be a big mess and probably fry itself and my brakes trying to bounce between each tire that spins...
Mine has never ripped one tire... If it did, I wouldn't treat it this way... a one wheel burns are stupid hard on the spiders...
DawgBone 2 years ago
I've seen others on TS forums, that one wheel peel... For whatever reason, mine does not...ever....

y dont u hit revlimiter they can take a shit kickin they r designed not to blow up if u do so
kickinminnow 3 years ago
The TRD tune doesn't seem to hold it's RPM.... When I hit the rev limiter, it drops back down to 4k RPM's, tries to shift, then has to downshift again... It doesn't just hover and ping on the limiter... and why I was trying to monkey with the throttle
My Chevy Silvy SS would do this as well... but I could manually shift it with tow/haul on, and keep it at the limiter...
This Tundra is fast and fun, but I'm not trying to break it.....
DawgBone 3 years ago
yea i c what ur sayn u put lots of cash into it and u dont wana wreak it cuz they r a nice truck still better then the new rams
kickinminnow 3 years ago
ive got an 03 tundra supercharged - im not too familiar with the "TRD Tune" but ive got the unichip system so mine lets me get past red - atleast when im not in 1st gear...that tundra is a beast but that would bug the shit out of me if it dropped the rpm's like that... dumb q but would the overdrive off help ( if you have O/D )? my other buddy watching has an 07 not supercharged and seems to think it would..
l501218 3 years ago
Sorry for such a late reply.. I never got the notification...
My truck doesn't have OD... It is tiptronic though...
The TRD tune let's me retain my warranty... When it's done, I may consider going to an after market tune... Hopefully by then, there will be some more SC pulleys/tunes available..
See my other vids..TRD updated their tune..

@DawgBone
no prob, i barely check my inbox to, yeah ill have to check it out a bit further, beeing able to keep the warranty would be nice.but im sure they would have the unichip c-map for your setup, they would be stupid if they dont, but it does give me the option of turning a switch to turbo mode and i have to run on only 110 octain, i cant punch under 65 otherwise my backtires completely spin. yours would be a fkn absolute monster if it had the turbo mode setup..Total Road Domination 4 life
