The version of Fresh Cream I have has this and Wrapping Paper right after Toad. I guess those are the bonus tracks. Funny, after all these years I thought those were the original tracks on the album, because they were so good.
I can see why Clapton and Bruce were laughing when they recorded this little ditty. Truly awful stuff from an incredible band. Their first big hit "I Feel Free" is awful as well. That doesn't mean from Disraeli on that they were not fantastic because they were. Beatles have some real winners in their repertoire too!!!
The band hated this song. There's a take that has Eric and Jack bursting out laughing while doing the vocals. The lyrics are indeed ridiculous, but I like the harmonizing and the instruments nonetheless.
My very first LP was the Best of Cream but I bet I didn't hear the Coffee Song until 1980 or so. I love it & Wrapping Paper & Anyone For Tennis probably due to the dificulty in finding them. Had they been included on the U.S. LP releases, these probably would not have been among my favorites. But due to the long search to find them, they will always have a special place in my heart.
You are welcome! This track is available of their box set called Those Were The Days. It was a B-side in 1966, and can be purchased in I-Tunes. It should be included on Fresh Cream, which by the way is an excellent bluesy rock album.
Masterpiece ♥♥♥ See also the version made by the Dantalian's Chariot. Also charming!

@1280ardd Their first big hit is awful? Come on, think again. If it was so awful, how come it's their first big hit? :)
Awesome music!

This song wasn't on their first L.P. It later appeared on the C.D. Fresh Cream along with Wrapping Paper.

I pretty much thought I was some kind of Cream Museum Curator, and I even saw them twice, but I had never, ever heard this song before. Wow.

Great song! I remember I had this on my cassette tape of Fresh Cream. For some reason, it is not on the compact disc. I hate when that happens.

@CLASSACT9000 yeah, but that almost made it better. My friend thought this was bluesy indie music.

Yes, I agree. "Cream" are rock icons. I would mention "Led Zeppelin" too. Good bye from Italy.
