I'm going to say this guy is sick - but... unfortunately any good Sikh dholi can learn these but none do cuz that's not what Sikh Punjabi music is about. Its not about whose better but its about what culture suits you the best. I wouldnt mind pickin' up a few of his beats as well - sufi music is pretty sick but like I said it'd just be for jollies cuz I wouldn't be able to play it anywhere that I play at - that's all based on the audience.

The main beat is a variation of Thamaal anyway.

I am aware that many Indians (not all) will not like the idea that Pappu Sain from Pakistan is so much better than the Indian dhol players.

This is my opinion at least. This style of Dhol playing is far more advanced than the Panjabi Bangra style

Respecting what you have said but you should check out the Dhol Foundation based in the UK they are really good. This is cool it has more of a spiritual feel to it.

Ah yes i have seen quite alot from Dhol foundation. Johnny Kalsi their famous exponent. But believe me that is very basic compared to what Pappu Sain (Pappu Saeen) does. Watch the other videos of Pappu Sain (Saeen) on youtube.

Yes it is more spiritual (as opposed to Bhangra) but it is more classical in its technique

You can argue whatever style you want, I've seen countless dholis live and video, including seeing Pappu and Jhura live, I still think Pappu and Jhura are the most talented and versatile.

if any of the ones you mentioned can pull off dhamaal better than pappu can then i'd agree...but they can't. no one has as much variations both in bols and in dynamics as pappu, MashAllah the clarity and speed of his playing is second to none

those guys u mentioned are good - the style of playing is the typical punjabi - bhangra. However like all others I have seen and heard many dhol players play throughout my travels - believe me he is the best dholi in the world. The only set-back is that he is not from UK, US or Canada... plus he doesn't market himself the way dholblasters and TDF does mate.

These are advanced classical tabla beats superimposed on the dhol. requires indepth knowledge of the beats that sufis have built over the centuries. compared to other sufi players th dholis you mention are nowhere near them never mind Pappu whos great.Check out unmatched sufi beats on,Magical Tune Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
