Oscar Peterson called...He wants his everything back. Anyone can transcribe Oscar stuff and sound like him, but is it really such an accomplishment to never have your own style?
I think his playing is very different in style to Peterson's and the feeling that comes across is more robust and wild (due to personality, age...). I would say he does have 'feeling' in abundance - plus he has plenty of time to grow into a more nuanced performer.
My family and I met Eldar at a Christmas Party (he attended because Stanislav Ioudenitch was there) and he was nice and inspired me to start piano and to go to Interlochen Arts Camp. Well Done!!!!
He's about the 3rd guy I've heard on youtube that possesses Oscar Peterson's manual dexterity. Nature only puts out one in a million! Awesome work for the prodigist.
Actually he can play beautiful ballads. I saw him live at Dizzy's Club in New York when he first cameout. He was 17 and stayed the whole night. I think he is a very mature player. Not just fast but plays displays very sensitive ballad playing as well.
I heard Eldar four years ago when he was 16. He blew everyone away. He reminds me a bit of Andre Previn. It is very unusual to find such mature playing at such a young age. Awesome!
Oh man, thank you for posting that. All this at 20. Finally, another true prodigy in every sense. Oscar, Art, Chick, McCoy, Herbie, its all there, and yet he has his own voice at 20. Time to hang it up for me.
