We provide essential services like defense, infrastructure, police, firefighting, emergency medical services, disaster response, courts, little things like that. I would add education, but it obviously failed in that it did not teach you that (a) income taxes ARE constitutional, (b) government provides for people what they cannot or could not do as effectively themselves, and (c) how to spell themselves.
