I hated the post-Libertines punk rock scene that came out of London at this time. The majority of the bands were just Doherty worshippers and Nancy Spungen wannabes. It was depressing to live through; talentless assholes boasting constantly about "smoking crack with Pete". Horrible, ugly times. Art Brut always stood out to me because they were different - they seemed more genuine and more honest. They seem like they're into playing music, not just image.
