It all depends on who joined the session first. It's not based on whether you're bass or guitar. Drums are always in the middle.

actually, not true about the drums. your right about it depends on who joined first, but ducels' eye of the tiger shows that drums are being on the right.

That's because the person recording is on guitar. YOUR instrument will always be in the middle, HOWEVER if you are a vocalist you will see the guitars on the sides and the drums in the middle.
