From my experience the trilene knot is one of the best if not the best knot! However it needs to wrap about 6 times with the twist not 3 as pictured for strength :) I know a guide that use to use that use to use knot number 4 where the loop goes around the hook, after I showed him my trilene knot he switched. :) happy fishing
@saur2244 you say it try-leane' basically if you can sound that spelling out,how ever its spelled trilene like the fishing line, the blood knot is for perfect strength and fusion of 2 pieces of line, however a bolan will suffice with rope, i have tied a blood knot in a 365 fathom tow line for seine fishing net and it worked ! i did not trust a bolan to hold the net together! the net was pulling so many tons its not even funny, plus hundred thousand pounds of salmon in the net when we finished!!
started tying the palomar knot years ago...never stopped. very strong and sturdy...and very very simple and fast. no need to go to anything else. if you fly, or need a leader like fluorocarbon, learn the uni to uni, or the blood knot. can't go wrong with either one. my bets are on the palomar and uni to uni...can't beat 'em.

I learnt the clinch and stuck to that ever since, Is there very much more value in switching to a different knot or should i just stick to the clinch. I havent had any breaks except for a pickerel that bit through my line (I use a leader now lol)
Knot strength line type and lure presentation. Most anglers prefer to learn one knot and stick to it. If your going to do that I would suggest learning the Palomar do to its strength and versatility.
hihow is it going.. i0m just a novice at that wanna lern how to fish ..... so wanna thank the post XD if u could help me more with kind of rope or material o etc... would be more helpful
I usually use a surgeon's loop. Most people don't recommend it, but it hasn't failed me yet. the line breaks before the knot breaks. And once my rod broke, but left the knot intact (i was vertical-jigging in about but i snagged something on the bottom and it ended with my rod breaking. eventually i got the line up and the knot was intact.
Is the Palomar a good fishing knot? Like a real good one? I understand they're all fishing knots, but the palomar is the first one I've been able to do and remember.
I like how we get into fights over what music was put in the video. Why cant we just appreciate the fact that this person took time out of their day to make this video? And it does somewhat help.
@seiko321 Go search "emo" in the dictionary, above anything it's an abbreviation for emotional. All music is emotional and if it weren't nobody would like it. Goth on the other hand isn't even a music genre, it is a style/fashion. So learn your shit you ignorant fuck!
Wow, the Palomar looks more complicated than the clinch, but I find it much easier to tie and tighten without messing up the line. Thanks for the options!
@Rohan4basu Unless you have insanely strong hands, all you WILL need are a pair of pliers/pincers and the weight itself to put on the line. Hold the weight with one hand, grab the closed part and place that inside the pliers without squeezing the splitshot. Now, while keeping the weight in place, grab the line and make a section taught enough to attach the open "Pac-Man" section of the weight onto the line. Squeeze it on, but don't damage the line. Make sure it moves up & down w/o falling off.
I like the double improved clinch never had a bait or lure slip bass never pulled the knot apart .. its worked very well for me ... if im baitfishing for cats i like to use a hangman
lol song made me laugh XD. very informative though. personally, i use a modified snell thats more resemblant to a hangman's (hangman's over shank basically) and then palomar several times above it for extra hooks, usually a larger hook at the bottom with a larger bait, so if ya hook on with a toothy monster on light lb test (which in my experience=lost hook) it usually trails the smaller hooks behind and when ya hook up you get 2 or 3 in its sides!
i use the polomar knot too. Remember to get it wet before u tighten it. Also u can ADD more hooks above the last one. So u can just add hooks anywhere at anytime.
i've been using some form of the clinch since I was very young....usually a standard clinch knot...but sometimes an improved clinch or a 7 turn lubed clinch if I really don't wanna lose a lure or I'm using a light lbtest...I recommend those usually because they're very easy and return anywhere from 95-100% of your line strength
@InformativeFisherman Kind of surprised the Rapala Knot isn't listed here. I'm a beginner myself, but I thought it was supposed to be really good for lures that are supposed to move. Do you ever use it yourself and is it as good as I've heard or is someone pulling my leg? :P

the trilene knot works best for me...
with the clinch knot, i can't get the knot to tighten around the eye of the hook, it just tightens up top
for the palomar, i can't figure out how you got from step 1 to step 2, and after that how you got step 3, i need a palomar knot for dummies
