A guy I used to work with had a fomula with this engine set up ,and it would roll out better than any 305 I ever seen,sounded good to.

TBI is throttle body injection. It is pretty much an electronic carbeurator. TBI is much maligned but can run with the big dogs. It is better than a regular carb and has top end power a TPI will never have. The tbi engines ran better than people think even though they are built tame. Put the TBI on the TPI engine and it will run better. I know some snot ass kid will try to smack me around but give it a shot before you insult me.

True, a lot of people think TBI is inferior to TPI but it's actually not. You can tune the hell out of a TBI powered engine.

Very true. Most people find TBI to be inferior and inefficient, when really there are 355 TBIs out there pushing well over 350-400hp, and more supercharged. TBI is very capable, people are just too lazy to do anything with it, everyone has the thing that only TPI is good.

Well i never been into a pontiac and most of there cars are auto plus the Am and Fm had a auto... i seen a GTO on my black so dont know if it is a stick... i seen a video STI vs GTO it never told who won so im proving to my friend that STI is better

@lespaul12001 First of all, it's "Throttle Body Injection" not "tuned port injection". And TBI gave more HP/TQ than the pricy CrossFire or carb'd H.O. did for the first years of the 3rd gen Firebird, so it isn't shitty. TBI is insanely reliable and so easy to diagnose that a child could do it (just pop off the air cleaner & look at the injector spray pattern). And unlike most non-GM '80s cars, it can easily be connected to a PC for live readouts from the ECU. My bitchin '85 MR2 can't do that.

I'm soon to inherit a 92' Firebird just like this one, although the paint job on it is bright red, and it has 273,000 miles. I plan on replacing the engine with a more modern engine. I've heard a lot about people doing LS1 conversions so I was considering that, but I was also considering a ZZ4 crate.
