Cadel grew up in Outback Australia. Pretty tough place to live at the best of times. Nothing was handed to this bloke on a platter. He has got where he is today through hard work and dedication.

of course the french are envious and want a frenchman to win..BUT thats not the whole truth..the anti doping work in france has been more serious than in spain and italy for example. which in part explains why the french riders have not been as successfull as before.
armstrong's blood wasn't handled properly and the procedure to test it went against the protocol... basically they went out of their way to test blood from years ago. so what if they dope? give people a second chance. it's just like a speeding ticket or a car accident, it goes on your record... serve your ban time, and come back to the sport, and for cyclists who want to just dope to win, they won't come back.
i didn't say armstrong didn't dope, only the procedure went out of protocol. as i said, why dwell on the past? and what if the story was a load of bull? it doesn't really matter if armstrong has doped or not. we move on. doping is bad, but it gets headlines and it'll make cycling regulations better and the sport as a whole better eventually.

I think you are the one with issues towards Australians. Let me explain something to you. My Mum is a Pom, her whole family are Poms. My Dad has English and Irish blood. So are you telling me I hate my family? Haha. Australia's view on sport is that of a sports loving country. We are blessed with open spaces and plenty of sunshine. So growing up nearly everyone plays sport. It's part of our culture.
The thing you seem to not understand is the Rivalry between the Poms and Aussies is like that of an older brother. You love your brother, but you want to beat him in everything from Monopoly to Football. We want to win when we compete, thats the whole point of playing in the first place, otherwise we wouldn't keep score. You seem to want to make it into some deep, dark hatred that we hold towards Poms. Trying to pump up ratings Dr Phil? The majority of Poms and Aussies get on just fine.

evans ddnt attack at all during the entire tour. he was the least aggresive of all the top finishers. he ddnt time trial particularly well either. sastre's tactics were sound, he did what he needed at alpe d'huez and rode a well in the time trial despite it being a weaker aspect. i seriously think evans isnt right in the head, no other rider is that bad with the media. he is always going to be an almost man, hopefully basso will be back next year and wipe the floor!!!

The Scheleck boys were consistently leading the alpine chase and lead groups, not following, leading! Evans made ZERO attacks on ALL the alpine stages, not ONE single attack. I wonder how many people here have ever actually raced on a sponsored team? I raced cat 2 in the mid 90's and if your on a team, you have to represent that sponsor. That media attention is exactly what the sponsors want, and what cadel is paid to do. what a shit return on that investment. I'm certain that lotto is happy that he's in the hunt, but he could do them better post race. this isn't the nba or the nfl, and i really don't want to see the rider start to act like that.
Let me get this right ... he's travelling on his bike - and I understand those professional riders have their feet locked in or something - anyway he's moving along on his BIKE, the cameraman positions himself right in front of him, Cadel motions the cameraman to move out of the way, the cameraman doesn't, Cadel runs into the camera ... and Cadel is "aggressive".
Hey Cameraman, this isn't your chance for basketball practice. If anything, the cameraman is being "passive-agggressive".
Look at where the camera is though. It starts off to Evans' left, and ends up on his right after the headbutt. Which means the cameraman had to cross over right in front of him. And if the cameraman was close enough for Evans to just lean over and hit the camera, then the camerman was way to close. It's possible that a collision was unavoidable, so he had to choose between running into the camera with his face or with his helmet. I'd have chosen to headbutt the camera too.
and as for the media, how would you like a bunch of people coming and putting stuff on your injuries or just swamping you where ever you go, its fair enough that he doesn't put up with them, he is all the better for it I say the fucked up media scum
pfft the tour is not about attacking non stop, its about consistancy, thats why he will win, he also doesn't have the strong team backing him like the csc guys their whole team are freaks, hence his forte is the individual time trial, going out there and racing by yourself for yourself, had any of the other riders in the top ten had been in evans shoes they could not have achieved what he has, those riders are good but not that good without a good team backing them

armstrong's blood wasn't handled properly and the procedure to test it went against the protocol... basically they went out of their way to test blood from years ago. so what if they dope? give people a second chance. it's just like a speeding ticket or a car accident, it goes on your record... serve your ban time, and come back to the sport, and for cyclists who want to just dope to win, they won't come back.

If Cadel was the stud he claims to be, why would he be crying about "3 Against 1"? How many times did we see Lance get isolated, and he would attack and put away his rivals? Evans needs to be more aggressive in his approach. Take the Tour, don't sit back thinking it will come to you!!

As a proud Australian I find it somewhat hard to defend some of Cadel's actions during the tour. But in terms of racing, he can't be faulted - he had a strategy and raced to his strengths. As for the generalist comments about Aus sports people and their behaviour..think O'Grady, Rogers, Gerrans, McEwen, Hansen - all of them pretty amazing cyclists and tough competitors. whatthefuck00=wanker.

I'm not from england. It looks like Australians want to live in england given the numbers living there. England seems to be a very tolerant place, home to many nationalities, I would put the depressant traces down to its working culture, perhaps they are too busy working to take part in sport? After all sport is considered a sort of leisure activity there rather than the be all and end all that it is in Australia. I would say they are not so screwed up about winning every cup in sport.

I don't understand it at all but can ralate to the drug taking. I like taking swipes at Australians as I feel their other national sporting obsession is taking swipes at the British and as a european they have my support as a forward looking nation.

I think some people are taking this a little too far. Cadel was under a tremendous amount of stress and is human so give him a break. Don't kid yourself into believing you have a clue what those guys go through and how hard it was to be in his shoes. If only the world was really that simple. Australia is a 'convict country' is it? How ignorant and short-sighted you must be if you really believe that. Evans was berated throughout the Tour by the European press because he is honest with his feelings. He is respected in the Peloton, by the sporting community and hugely respected by his fellow Australians. He finished 2nd in the greatest race on earth, twice in a row. That really isn't such a poor show.

evans ddnt attack at all during the entire tour. he was the least aggresive of all the top finishers. he ddnt time trial particularly well either. sastre's tactics were sound, he did what he needed at alpe d'huez and rode a well in the time trial despite it being a weaker aspect. i seriously think evans isnt right in the head, no other rider is that bad with the media. he is always going to be an almost man, hopefully basso will be back next year and wipe the floor!!!

The Scheleck boys were consistently leading the alpine chase and lead groups, not following, leading! Evans made ZERO attacks on ALL the alpine stages, not ONE single attack. Even after Sastre started gaining big time on him on Alpe Duez and the Schleck bros slowed down their pace, Evans was perfectly content to sit behind that slowing pace rather than go to the front and lift the pace, no one deserves a TDF win that way. Dealing with the media is part of the job so in fact they do pay him to act well with the people who report the sport. Thats what "sponsorship" is all about. Obviously evans thinks its ok to make lots of cash as a rdesult of the media but then acts like a nutcase often when they want to talk to him. Glad sastre beat his lame ass and glad he didnt win after wheelsucking through all the Pyreness and Alps. LOL

Strong words ghostzapper. However the fact that he didn't have his team around to "wheelsuck" (Unlike Sastre, who had great support from CSC) was a large part of him failing to win.
Second place in Le Tour hardly qualifies one as a"Lame Ass" I think.

He reminds me of a little spoiled brat. And when he refused to take the lead in the chase group up Alpe Duez to limit his losses against Sastre he deserved to lose. In fact it would have been pretty lame had he been able to ride that passive way and still win. All he did was wheelsuck the Schleck brother all the way up AD the same lame way he rode every other mountain in every alpine stage this year. Congrats Sastre a better guy could not have won or lost.

Well its all over for another year and another well deserved 2nd place for Evans. Considering his team is shite he did well. Personally speaking he seems quite obnoxious and the weight of the chip on his shoulder must slow him down but I hand it to him he is good.

This is bullshit. This video simply shows the Sporza network's cameraman (purposefully) creating a dangerous situation... in the path of a major contender in the TdF. Serge needs to grab the camera and insert into the cameraman's colon.

I wonder how many people here have ever actually raced on a sponsored team? I raced cat 2 in the mid 90's and if your on a team, you have to represent that sponsor. That media attention is exactly what the sponsors want, and what cadel is paid to do. what a shit return on that investment. I'm certain that lotto is happy that he's in the hunt, but he could do them better post race. this isn't the nba or the nfl, and i really don't want to see the rider start to act like that.

Let me get this right ... he's travelling on his bike - and I understand those professional riders have their feet locked in or something - anyway he's moving along on his BIKE, the cameraman positions himself right in front of him, Cadel motions the cameraman to move out of the way, the cameraman doesn't, Cadel runs into the camera ... and Cadel is "aggressive".
Hey Cameraman, this isn't your chance for basketball practice. If anything, the cameraman is being "passive-agggressive".

Look at where the camera is though. It starts off to Evans' left, and ends up on his right after the headbutt. Which means the cameraman had to cross over right in front of him. And if the cameraman was close enough for Evans to just lean over and hit the camera, then the camerman was way to close. It's possible that a collision was unavoidable, so he had to choose between running into the camera with his face or with his helmet. I'd have chosen to headbutt the camera too.

pfft the tour is not about attacking non stop, its about consistancy, thats why he will win, he also doesn't have the strong team backing him like the csc guys their whole team are freaks, hence his forte is the individual time trial, going out there and racing by yourself for yourself, had any of the other riders in the top ten had been in evans shoes they could not have achieved what he has, those riders are good but not that good without a good team backing them

Cadel is a legend. He doesn't take shit from anyone and why should he? Let him regain his breath and settle before you stick cameras and microphones in his face and tap his injured shoulder as we saw him respond to earlier. No one here has the right to put down such an incredible athlete who deserves to be where he is. He isn't even a road cyclist naturally so he's switched to road from mountain biking and he's kicking arse in this discipline too. What a legend!!
