In summary, here are the pro's and con's of both types of weed: High THC, low CBD (Most stuff being sold on the streets and in dispensaries, otherwise known as "good shit" by the high school and college kids) -Taste enhanced (food tastes better) -Musical sense is enhanced (sounds sound more clear and are louder) -Sleep inducer (Makes you really sleepy) -Paranoia/Anxiety High CBD, low THC -Feel warmer -Feel more awake -Doesnt make you sleepy -Doesnt give you the sensitivity like THC
I always hated the weed that is sold on the streets and even in some dispensaries. Stuff that yields 15+ % THC would always get me super paranoid and anxious. I would often feel those effects for literally a week after staying sober, I would still feel them!
CBD rich weed is completely different, I feel high but I dont get as much paranoia and the only downside is I dont get the sleepiness that THC gives me and I also get sort of a hangover for the next day, but it goes away unlike THC weed.
One common misconception about CBD weed like Harlequin, Trident, and Omrita rx3 is that it
"doesnt get you high". This is absolutely untrue, I am a new medical patient and tried the CBD rich Harlequin which has around 7% CBD and only 5% THC and it went something like this:
2 Bowls- Relaxed, clearer vision, felt more awake, happier.
....after half a joint:
BAKED. CBD rich Marijuana still does get you high but the high is different. Paranoia is not present and you dont feel the stoned effect
Here's a good way to smoke more CBD instead of THC. If you have a vaporizer machine (like volcano or vaporgenie) be sure to collect all the residual weed (yes, the dry one) and roll a joint with this. The "high effect" is very pleasant, no tachycardia, it's a good body high, no paranoia, tottaly anti-psychotic, good mood, no munchies with this one ( almost ;) ) I love CBD.
I smoke all my weed in this way since I tried it.. =)
Anybody know what this strain is. I've been looking for very high cbd levels with VERY low thc as it would be the most beneficial. If anybody has any information on this I would greatly appreciate it.
@onlyacog No idea of the strain but it's possibly an indica variety since the indica strains have lot more CBD than the sativas which is the reason of the better relaxation of the muscles and nerves and calms you down. Probably the best strain would be Afghan for that. You don't need much of that to feel relaxed just a 0.05-0.2 gram and you're good to go and it helps you to sleep better too but if you use it too much at a time you start to get a bit retarded so to speak.
@beastyboi343 Weed without THC feels like something's missing. But on the other hand, I do have some chronic pains, and getting some strong indica allowed me to beat a friend of mine at a game he's a pro at. At low doses, cbd makes you calm and perform better. At high doses, it puts you to sleep.
@mostliberal Actually the idea of indicas being CBD-rich has been debunked. There are Sativa's like Trident and Harlequin where the CBD content is around 12% and the THC is 6%. Grand Daddy Purp, a well known indica is usually around THC 21% CBD 0.74% and that is how most indicas are. There are Sativas with similar ratios but completely different effects.
It is the THC that will both alert you and put you to sleep along with CBN which makes you foggy. If you ever get Trident you'll see.
@HearingEveryRhyme well you guys better find me some high CBD marijuana because i would never pay a penny for a pound of kush or high thc weed.what the point of being in a paranoid mood.
@HearingEveryRhyme Hey, I recently became a medical cannabis patient, and I need your help to find high cbd strains, because... you were right. Even before when I was going through dealers, and even now through dispensaries, it's hard to find anything that isn't skewed totally in favor of thc. Don't get me wrong, I don't diss THC, I just think it doesn't work without having enough CBD. Here's why: I went to the middle east this summer and I got to try Moroccan hash...
@HearingEveryRhyme ... and it gave me a body high stronger than any weed I tried in the SF Bay Area, and it was was waaay waaay better than a strong sativa I got in amsterdam, or any kief I've had in U.S. I didn't get much of a mind high, munchies, and only mild music enhancement. I did get that fuzzy, warm, soothing feeling in my skin and muscles though, similar to what I get when I'm really drunk. Anyway, long story short, do you know any California strains with a ton of both cbd and thc?
@mostliberal Yes, I do know of a strain with lots of CBD and lots of THC. If you are in the Bay Area, look for a strain called "Cannatonic". It has a 1:1 THC to CBD ratio which people thought would be impossible to achieve, since the plant can either get more of one or the other.
Anyways, it is sold at Berkeley Patients Care Collective (11% THC 11%CBD) as well as Berkeley Patients Group and other places in the Bay. Have not tried it because I am very lightweight and get high off lower thc.
NEW STRAIN?Yeah right.Ruderalis breeds & certain Indica breeds of the Cannabis race have ALWAYS contained high CBD/low THC levels - 'For every up there is a down.....& that's what makes the world go round"
@beta447 It also has an anti-convulsant effect, its found more in indica strains. some say it can cause enough sedation to effect daily function though, but using an indica strain with some thc can offset this.
Wow, it's REALLY irresponsible for someone to say that the 'medical effects' from marijuana come from CBD, and that the 'psychoactive effects' come from THC. That is not factual or mapped in any way. We have NO IDEA yet how to make distinctions between 'medical' and 'psychoactive'. If this myth blossoms, big pharma will crank out CBD pills w/ no THC and we'll 'no longer need' to make plants themselves legal for medical patients especially since they have 'non-medical' THC in them.
CBD will become more and more talked about and researched in the future. I can't wait as I need to try it but it is still illegal to grow even hemp where I live. There's no legal way for me to aquire it.
@unigirlb Girl! I'm literally waiting for the day CBD is sold in pure form as a cannabis extracted tincture. Then we don't have to smoke it and damage our lungs and we can have little pain, anti-anxiety, etc. and don't have to get high! It'll probably be years....
As time passed from the 60's, pot with low THC, and high CBD went by the wayside. Better party pot equated too more seizures. I have had seizures since I was 6 weeks old. I'm now 60; and on more medication than ever. In the early seventies I went 4 years without a seizure; off of manmade drugs. My medication was marijuana.
@OFFDERSS089 Actually, we need to REPEAL PROHIBTION.
"Legalize" means "we want to write more damaging statutes to add to the existing failed and damaging statutes to make things even more complex, more expensive, more damaging, harder to determine on a case by case basis who's legal and who's not...AND since all the failed statutes still exist on the books, they can easily be written back in with the stroke of a pen."
REPEAL means: It's gone. Dead. FINISHED. Kaput. Prohibition is OVER!
@doctormcgoveran "try regulation alcohol is not legal it is regulated. If you haved unregulated trade you have trouble."
In actual fact, people brew their own beer at home today and it doesn't affect the "industrial production" at all, nor are there "underground booze markets" all over the place. Same with home wine making.
In both cases, there is no regulations on home production, no regulations on trading or giving your home-produced products to friends.
@TheRealElectroPig actually the brewing at home has regulations you can only make a limited amount per year, and selling is illegal. thus my comment on unregulated trade if you could make it and sell it all over as much as you wanted that would be unregulated trade. if you don't have any friends in the under ground booze market good for you.
@doctormcgoveran Fact is, you can still give away homemade beer or wine without any restrictions whatsoever. I know DOZENS of people who make TONS of the stuff every year and give it away for birthdays, christmas gifts, and more.
No, you can't sell it on the open market, but who wants to? The retail market/competition is HUGE out there, and I live in "Wine country", so I'm VERY well acquainted with the local wineries and their COMMERCIAL products, as opposed to "home brews".
@TheRealElectroPig beer making at home has regulations as far as limiting the amount you can make , and you can't sell it. if it was wide open trade then it would be impossible to tax it. if it was prohibited totally then it would theft prone, generate trouble. as it is there is some illegal beer making and moonshine breweing but it is limited in scope. if you have something lillegal then you have unregulated trade.Un regulated trade causes violence
@TheRealElectroPig I am glad to hear that there are not illegal liquor markets anywhere, for example in dry counties in the south. the ATF is regulating the liquor business, you are a llowed to make about two hundred quarts of alcoholic beverages a year. Lots of illegal booze is out there either brought across lines into dry areas, such as indians reservations, and it is cheaper to make it at home because of the taxes. There my not be moonshine in wine country but that is not every where
@doctormcgoveran the thing I mean about regulated and unregulated is this, if you have a home made bottle of wine, and I kick in the door to your home and take it you can call the authorities. If you ahve illegal products you have to deal with it your self, generally this is the cause of violence.
