This is an example why classes are not necessary to play the music you love. The passion and love for the music combined with the brain's beautiful ability to adapt and replay it is just fantastic. To me this is far more impressive that run of the mill piano playing showcase, as this is what people really wanna feel when they play.
I'm impressed with the Yamaha Portable Grand keyboards! The Adult Day Healthcare program I attend 3x a week, has a Yamaha DXG-520, which the Music Therapist, Helen, a Russian lady plays so beautifully!
This is what helped to motivate me to want to purchase a Yamaha YPG-535, myself
You're doing great for a beginner! I'm going to be purchasing a Yamaha YPG-535,myself,possibly this week or next, as I want to learn to play piano, besides that, it will be.good therapy for my right hand, since I had a mild stroke over a year ago.
My girlfriend, Martha, is helping get the YPG-535, she's psyched about it, also,She wants to learn to play, as well.
im pretty sure there is. i would deff recommend this piano, im only a beginner, and it feels beautiful, and has a lot of great sounds to choose from. i do a lot of the recordings you hear on my page with it, so sample em and see if you like the sounds. and thanks
@MobyMB24 YES its a great buy esspecialy off amazon, I was a begginer and this piano motivated me to get where I am today! Its like you cant walk into the same room as it without wanting to mess around on it for alittle. If you want to get more intake on this check out some of my videos (rate and comment too lol).
I love listening to final fantasy songs on piano :) I don't know how it's supposed to sound, but if you hadn't said you played it by ear, I wouldn't have know. Beautiful, I hope I can play as well as you when I get my keyboard. I'm thinking of getting that keyboard, and the description say it comes with a stand but it doesn't say if it comes with a music stand or keyboard stand. Would you mind telling me if yours came with either of those? Thanks a bunch :)
You did a fine job playing that piece. However, to a musician not being able to read sheet music is like not able to read a book. In a sense, being an illiterate. So, now that you know you have a gift, get educated.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with playing music by ear. Some would argue that music sounds better when played that way - instead of looking at a sheet of music just plucking away. Music should be felt inside of you - and then it manifests itself outwardly. There are many sucessful musicians that play by ear.
You are completely missing the point. Just because you can read doesn't mean you can't create. When you can read, hopefully you can write; and when you can write, you can pass on written history instead of oral history.
what nice 600 dollar toy lol. im selling mine today for a weighted dgx620. i dont like the unweighted keys. they r good for u cuz u play the kind of stuf that doesnt require fast paced accuracy but when u r going really fast its easy to fuck up on unweighted keyboards. weighted keyboards are WAY easier to play more accuratly (while not as quickly, but that takes some skill).
Still awesome and full of heart 5 months on!

Well Done! You've got a lot of natural talent. Some of the greatest pianists are self taught non readers. Check out Erroll Gardner.

playing by ear is essential to helping your piano skills overall
it can help you identify how each key sounds like, and get a better feel for the piano
also. alot of people who play by war actually do make some songs sound better in my opnion

For someone who can professedly "barely even play piano", you do pretty well. Have fun with the new toy!
