  • The Elantra does not get 40MPG highway. Check out that data on the website 'fuelly'. Consumer watchdog has sent a letter to president Obama and to the EPA stating that you car does worse that what the EPA tests reveal, and Chevy Cruze consistently does better than what it's EPA values are. Both the Elantra and Cruze are 33MPG combined).

The Cruze gets an average of 28% better mileage than the Elantra.

Stop lying please. My mother got an Elantra, always in Eco mode, can't get more than 25MPG

  • İ love this car.

  • the MPG claimed by hyundai is waay off. my mom's gets 27mpg combined mostly highway. i checked fueleconomy.gov and it seems about right. no one really got close to 40mpg even with 100% highway.

  • I have a 2011 Elantra. I love it :) It's a great overall car and the gas Mil. is great!

  • Bring back the fucking Tiburon. Sports car look and feel for less than sports car money.

  • Gas millage is horrible in town..... my 2011 Limited gets only 20 mpg real world

  • do the back seats fold completely flat with the trunk floor?

  • Elantra es muy elegante y mucho mejor que un mazda 3 o un chevrolet cruze !!

  • the focus isn't really stylish...

  • its not honday!

  • where is May?

  • very nice!

  • This car is a homerun. I bought one and I am a loyal Honda owner.

  • @misterwipedown Me too, Ive sold my 07 Civic, arrives next week, Elite in Clean Blue, can't wait.

This will clean up when compared to a Holden Cruze, Chev Cruze, Daewoo Lacetti

  • Nice looking car but u still CANNOT beat honda n toyota in reliablity n quality! This car is what something new always is...enticing at first!

  • @tepeke88 The so called quality fixated only in your head. Sorry, but professional journalists, reviewers already rated this car above the Honda and Toyota. I'm guessing you're one of those "rice" boys who actually think you're in a Mercedes with small compact Civics, but these are compact cars that are supposed to do Compact jobs.

  • AHHHHH I LOVE IT. ITS GONNA BE MY FIRST CAR :)

  • Were gonna buy this car for my mother :D

  • Beautiful looking Hyundai Elantra and I love the color.

  • chevy cruze??

  • Wow!

  • Expect this car to sell like hotcakes. Great price point, roomy, great design and tons of features for the money. A no brainer choice and a game changer. Nobody will be laughing at the Hyundai brand anymore.

  • We are selling a ton of 11 Elantras here in Cleveland. Go for the 16 / 17" just for the chuckholes! Welcome to Cleveland!

  • @superamerica1981 rofl ill do that, and drive the elantra all day long over a new '12 civic. Good advice.

  • This guy must be receiving some serious fellatio from Chevy execs.

  • So much better than Honda and Toyota styles. Id love to kick around in one of these as a DD. The new civic is utter trash and is pathetic looking. Hyundai beats Honda and toyota hands down. Cant wait till they out pace them in sales! Cars like this are the nails in Honda's and TOyotas coffin!

  • @Niche79 I agree, being a former Toyota owner, their cars are booooring and plain. Ask for some performance or enjoyment from a Honda or Toyota and you get funny looks. Quite impressed with Hyundai and Kia recently.

  • @Mahgwa yup your right, Ive had 4 hondas now and still have 2. Though I will more than likely not buy another Honda any time soon because they are boring econo boxes now. No flashy good looks or sporty'ness to them anymore. I really hope to see Hyundai surpass Honda and toyota in the future!

  • I'm liking all of these stylish small cars!

  • I have Heard that Elantra doesnt have A/c and power windows in the Standard trim and also the Automatic version. These Options are only available in High trim version "Elantra LIMITED" . Hyundai Must be Joking If they Dont Include A/c in their Standard version. That must be a Shame after including so many other features taking out A/c

  • i don't know if i should trade my benz for it = (

  • Hyundai Elantra Recall Affects 190,000 Models for Airbag Problems

Hyundai has recalled over 190,000 Elantra models over concerns that the passenger side airbags might not work properly.

The Elantras were from the last generation, built from July 2006 to November 2008, and cover model years 2007 to 2009.

  • @kokii34 The issue is not that the airbags may not work properly, rather, than the sensor in the seat may not disable the airbag if a small passenger is seated in the front passenger seat.

  • i love this guy hyundai supporter

  • Does the basic package come with leather seats? Definitely got me sold if so!

  • @koruptxshun no

  • Imagine it with sports tuned suspension. Lip kits. Fatter and bigger rims. With atleast the 2.0 T from the gen coupe that would produce 200hp. It will be a si, type s, ser killer!! Hyundai!!! Please come up with a performance line!! I want a 2.0T 6speed man elantra!!!

  • @tigerdjk Look at the Sequence-X SPEC-1 kit from Korea. ;D

  • Do you even know Korea is the richest & healthiest economy in the world now ??

  • @yeotmugrajp its not

  • @superwabble If all the foreign industrial ventures & earnings combined GDP will read 41,500$, Wise 7 humble Korean just keep low profile. When the rest of the world & flaky politicians manipulate all kinds of bogus statistics to shore up collapsing economy, tsk tsk..

  • This>Cruze

  • mercedes benz and bmw are made in china

  • I like it a lot....finally a competitor to Toyota Corolla, HondaCivic, with an excellent design...If I was in a market to purchase a compact car, I would seriously consider Hyundai...

  • (:-o)??

  • Buying a car styled like this is like getting a tatoo. You think it is cool at first, but after a while you realize how stupid you were.

  • @ss0rca Hey Jerk update your laggard head, the only remaining contender is Porsche now for Korean cars, & it'll be a loser in a count of months, Name brand pimp loser, Smart up what's the real value in front of yo rotten fish head & eyes.. What an uppish barking non-sense, social outcast like you always screwing all kinds relationship.. I see it as a day light , U pathetic loser

  • @yeotmugrajp

Dude, you need to use a different online translator. At least I hope that is the problem, because if you actually do speak english, you are one hell of a psychopath. I mean I have seen some crazy narcissistic psyco's in my time, but never any that invented their own dialect, and speak it as though it makes complete sense to everyone else, when it is nothing but mumbojumbo.

  • @ss0rca Japs' super talent.. deny deny anything that hurt Jokbari complex, Ye i know typical Jap's insistence.. turning upside down, squishing in any which way to justify Japs' belief.. tsk, tsk, go ahead deluded lunatics, make yo day in yo collapsing cuntry

  • @yeotmugrajp

You think you are Tokyo Rose now?

  • Uugghlllyyyyy!!!!

  • fucking a

  • i fucking love hyundai......i have a tuburon 98 and is the awsome, im going to sell it and buy the all new elantra i cant wait

  • Even the new Accent looks pretty hot. Hyundai is churning out pretty good cars, and I never even pictured Hyundai cars in my garage. But now, things are a lot different.

  • @jeffsandychelsea when I say the Cruze looks better I mean the front. I believe the cruze has more of an upper class look. Overall though the elantra is better looking.

  • To answer your question on the price, the base will start around $15,000 and the Limited model to start around $20,000. Of course you have to add some options, title and tags.

  • how much ,about it,,,

  • Nice looking car I love how it look outside and inside ^_^

  • I don't really like the front end of this car.....the cruze looks better

  • @cm18cam The CRUZE looks better? What the HELL?! -___-

  • @jeffsandychelsea

The Cruze looks 10 TIMES better. The Cruze styling has class. The Elantra looks like something out of a bad Asian cartoon.

  • @ss0rca Maybe it looks ten times better if you have awful taste...

  • @jeffsandychelsea

That's a matter of your taste. To me the Cruz is ugly.I'm a Chevy guy but hyundai cars kicks butt

  • "Hi this is Joe Wiesenfelder. I'm 6 feet tall". I'm 6 feet tall. I'm 6 feet tall. I'm 6 feet tall. I'm 6 feet tall. I'm 6 feet tall. I'm 6 feet tall. I'm 6 feet tall.

  • 2011 almost every car looks nice

  • hes 6 ft tall? yeah right....

  • @MT323able If you were to, I don't know, read my comment, you would see that I said 2012 plus Ford Focus, which is not bland, and looks absolutely nothing like the Taurus. Not to mention the fact that there will be the Focus RS, which comes with a 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine. Loser.

  • @boboblocks The Focus can come with 10 Turbochargers, but until Ford brings back American jobs back from Mexico and Canada no thanks don't want to drive Ford crap.

  • i wouldnt mind having one of these, alot of people are going to have one of these, i used to laugh at these guys(hyundai/kia), got egg on my face now!!!

  • best looking compact by far, r u seeing this people(domestic), better recognize this and act on it!!

  • 2012+, (only), Ford Focus FTW!!

  • @boboblocks Ford Focus...FTW??? well when comparing the two the focus is bland looking, just like a small taurus...plus the Elantra will probably bring turbo in the future and the focus will be like the Fusion....loser.

  • I wish Joe would review things other than the interior...

  • Cars.Com makes me an intellectual car buyer. Hyundai makes me a smart buyer! Go Hyundai!!! Never mind the north Koreans!

  • i like it

  • Good looking car! That exterior styling is pefect--not bland and conservative, yet not overly styled to the point of excess. KILLER swoops, curves and angles, entertwining handsomely. Hyundai has another winner here. If driver feedback is good, I'd make this my next car.

  • FTW

  • I think it looks like an aborted big mouthed bass, course thats just me. I'll be waiting patiently for an updated Forte, even though the "koup" looks great now. Hopefully the Cruze will have a real engine by then as well.

  • check out consumerreports and jdpower, and you will figure out most of american cars are craps compared to hyundai.

  • i dont like korean cars. nice on the outside and on the inside but meh at the engine. just like their popstars.

  • @blitzbeat06 why are you comparing humans to cars? how woud you feel if philipinos were compared to jeepnys?

  • @fvgotch guess how many f u c k s i give...

  • @blitzbeat06 there are reasons why your country is poor as f u c k !

  • @blitzbeat06 YOUR A LOW LIFE PRAY TO JESUS AND PUT SOAP IN YOUR MONTH,TALK ABOUT THE CARS THIS IS A COMMENT SECTION NOT FOR LOW LIFE WORDS GROW UP

  • @grrgw6161 lol what the fuck was that?

  • @grrgw6161 i loled.

  • Lets look back to 1980, honda and toyota where considered Crap Cars, people would laugh at you for driving one and mechanics would tell you to get that piece of shit out of here, American cars where the car of choice, Now Lets look at Hyundais story, I see A similar story here, Started out as crap and has recently in the past years become a Global Leader in almost every segment, Everyone has a developing story.

  • Resale value on ANY HYUNDAI is a joke. Buy a Honda, Mazda, or Toyota.

  • @Jferrari427 that was back in 1989. resale value has gone way up, and this is coming from kbb.com. check it out for yourself. worst resale value can be found on chrysler, GM, susuki.

  • @Jferrari427: You do know the 2010 Elantra has the highest residual value in its 'compact' class accoding to ALG, which is the industry benchmark for depreciation data and residual values.

But why trust an expert company on the matter, when 'jferrari427' seems to know everything?

  • Not as nice as the Sonata?? Grandpa needs his glasses.....

  • Still will never buy a Kia/Hyundai.

  • Toyota has gotten complacent with their designs, the Corolla is overpriced and downright hideous compared to this Elantra! Kudos to Hyundai / Kia for upping the ante!

  • the elantra vs corolla debate is an interesting one... volume wise, i see corolla as a winner... but for value.. hyundai beats any manufacturer hands down... corolla is riding on its reputation but anyone who bought one recently knows that the interior is just 1993... all hard plastic... fit and finish is not there with its competitors

  • Styling aside, the main benefit of the European Ford Focus is the offering of various configuration, such as sedan, hatchback, C-Max minivan, and the Kuga SUV..

  • Is he saying the Cruze is more stylish? It looks downright mundane compared to this car.

  • Took this long to post new Elantra from the LA auto show? I am thinking cars.com completely forgot about this car until they found a video footage of this and said "Oops! Forgot all about Hyundai..."

  • THE INTERIOR IS HORRIFIC!!!! THIS CAR SUX ALREADY .....

  • Is Joe Weisenheimer Kelsey Mays father?

  • @khunopie looks that way

  • se parece al new ford focus

  • this car looks pretty good for 15k, heated rear seats... what other $15k car has heated rear seats? I don't know why everybody is getting all pissed off about a car they can just choose not to buy.

  • lol at all these haters. all they can do is rant in the internet. watch as this thing rapes the sh1t out of the fugly pos of the facelifted corolla and others. im sorry but wtf, the new elantra is not influenced by the ford fiesta wtf? they look nothing alike and if u want the dual clutch u will have to pay upwards of 20k and it just is not worth it

  • @EvilVirus24

People said the same thing about Genesis Sedan/Coupe against Lexus and Infiniti.

Saleswise, Genesis Sedan and Coupe both sold less than 22,000 units in 2009. Hyundai expected 40,000~50,000 units to be sold. Meaning, flopped.

Hyunda/Kia cars are usually a lot cheaper than Toyota or Honda and yet, they never sell more than those two Japanese brands.

Because people do not want to drive a Hyundai/Kia.

  • @NakedSnakeBlGBOSS Nobody aspires to drive an economical vehicle, however that doesn't stop them from buying them.

As demonstrated by Hyundai/Kia's expanding sales volume year over year, and in high numbers. 67324 units combined this month, to be exact.

You can call the Genesis a flop all you want, you've got to remember that the damn thing launched in 2008, before the recession started taking its toll on the auto industry. By that account, it's performed honestly.

  • @NakedSnakeBlGBOSS And the reason they never sell more than Honda or Toyota so far (you're soooooo being dismissive of all the conquest sales the Sonata managed to get) is because they haven't had the opportunity to establish themselves like either one of them. The Japs have been here and accepted for decades, while acceptance of the Koreans is only a recent story, even more recent in the case of Kia. Give them a break, fuck.

  • @Vitaminous

Do you seriously think Hyundai will ever be able to establish their brand as a Lexus? In fact, that's what they are trying to do with their Equus. Now, maybe I could say this shows the difference between Toyota(Japanese giant) and Hyundai(Korean giant). Toyota knew the North Americans would not pay so much for just a Toyota, that's why they created Lexus.

And yet, Hyundai expects to sell this junk called Equus and asking the price of 70,000 dollars for full option one.

  • @Vitaminous

Even the highest model of Acura, Acura RL is struggling in terms of sales and that costs less than 55,000 dollars!!! And in fact, when you look at Genesis Coupe and Sedan, the one that sold the most were Coupe, not sedan. Quite obvious, who would want a "luxury" Hyundai?

I have a feeling that Hyundai is right now getting so cocky and delusional, I would like to see them flopping big time with their Equus, it's the only way to teach those copycatters a lesson.

  • Still can't overtake Corolla or Toyota in general!

  • @sammyvick123 COROLLA???? Man you could've said just about any compact cars out there and I would have not disagrred with you, but LOL Corolla looks like Made in China!

  • @fvgotch The Corolla, Cruze, and Civic are top notch on quality especially Corolla!

  • What we're witnessing my friends...is the DEATH of America :)

  • @tommypickles09

That already happened years ago. The U.S. automakers are not able to make the American muscle cars anymore(meaning the American muscle, is pretty much dead. Just name only now) and most of GM cars are just rebadged ones. Chrysler is just a bitch of Fiat.

Not that I hate the American cars, but since now the United States is as good as a third world country, I guess this third world country brand is good enough to be compared to the American Big 3.

  • @NakedSnakeBlGBOSS What the fuck are you on about? Have you ever checked the reviews of the muscle cars pre-emissions vs what we have today?

GM's all rebadges? Again, have you been sleeping through the bailout and even slightly before? Holy shit.

As for Chrysler being Fiat's bitch, well we'll see about that, we're getting a bunch of all American/German refreshed products right now *and* the 500.

  • @Vitaminous

Your comment quite shows the level of your intelligence. Do you even know what a muscle car is?

Yes, pretty much all GM cars. Let's see, which GM car except for Corvette is based on the platform not made by Holden or Opel? Caddy CTS = Sigma platform from Holden. Buick Regal = Nothing but a rebadged Opel. Cruze = Rebadged Holden Cruze.

American/German? Are you thinking Fiat is German? If so, that's pretty sad.

  • @Vitaminous

And btw, Challenger = Based on Charger and yet, Charger is nothing but just a watered down last gen Mercedes E class. Apparently the new Charger will use purely just Dodge parts, and Chrysler might have some chance recovering, but still, Chrysler is a complete garbage right now compared to Hyundai.

NO. It seems like you are not understanding this. At least the Japanese cars sell because of the country's economic power, but how is, South Korea?

  • looks good to me..under 15k..

  • R.I.P GM :D!!

  • this is actually classed as mid-size... this car is gonna completely revolutionize the compact segment... damn, joe's knees aren't event touching the back of the driver's seat... which was all the way back... if you've looked at enough carscom reviews, you'd know how good that is...

  • @eskil1u Head room in the rear seats is questionable though. I'd rather lose some room in the knee area than risk banging my head on bumps. Other than that I'd buy one, seeing as I have longer legs than I do a torso when it come to proportions.

  • There is no stopping the Koreans, goodbye Japs and American autos.

  • @igeekone Japs > hog shit > Korea

  • @igeekone

You are a moron. Maybe the Americans, but the Japanese have the successful luxury brands, tuning divisions, racing history and their own supercars.

    Hyundai/Kia garbage has none.

  • @NakedSnakeBlGBOSS yr completely right... ill admit to one thing tho hyundia has potential

  • @NakedSnakeBlGBOSS Just so you know, that Korea, I know, not Hyundai, NOR Kia, do have the handmade Super Car that runs 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. It's called Oullim Spirra. That has around 450HP. Korea's first ever Supercar. You can search Youtube for around a year old clips. Just so you know if you didn't know. Very LITTLE known brand and model of a car of the tiny new company in Korea which established from around 2004 or so.

  • @Grandam1999

I already know about this car, and it has nothing to do with Hyundai nor Kia, only just it uses a Hyundai engine.

    Anything else?

  • Hyundai/KIA are going to kill American Car industry, esp GM..

    hyundai/kia #FTW

  • @blackseries99 I'm personally not a fan of KIA, but Hyundai is improving.

  • @blackseries99 i agree hyundai and kia are gonna blow everyone out of the industry. people are still saying their cars are crap and not good reliability my mom has an 06 sonata v6 gls and it has almost 200.000 miles on it and since she got it there have been no problems with it and its still runs great

  • @blackseries99 You keep thinking that..

  • @xxMafia101 along with 30 other people

  • @blackseries99 I highly doubt that, more likely this will cut into Toyota/Honda sales. I personally would never buy a Hyundai or Kia over an American car and I'm pretty sure most American car owners feel the same way.

  • @stanbernadino --okay okay. FYI most of Hyundai/Kia are build in USA and GM/FORD are build in Mexico and Ford.

  • @blackseries99 Chevy Cruze is built in Ohio. Ford Focus is built in Michigan. When did you start to believe that Ohio and Michigan were part of Mexico?

  • @blackseries99 Kia is almost going out of business. Hyundai builds quality cars, but no one will ever drive them. Its kind of like the guy that walked into a party uninvited and everyone stares at him.

  • @xxMafia101 Have you recently seen sale chart of Nov. Hyundai and Kia has the biggest # number in their category. And they are consistent for two years.

  • @blackseries99

Any car built in America is crap period.

  • @tangel476 Hey, don't say that! Hyundai builds some cars in America! >:C

  • @blackseries99 They are actually creating new jobs since Elantras are built right here in America.

  • @bsp1148

A lot more jobs, because if these cars sell like hot pancakes I'm moving to Alabama or wherever Hyundai plans to build the second plant.

  • @blackseries99 I hate to say it, but you're right. I cross-shopped the 2010 Focus, Fiesta, Cobalt and Caliber against the 2010 Elantra and the Hyundai blew them all away in terms of comfort, romminess, ride quality, MPG and features for the money. It wasn't even a close contest. And the 2011 Elantra is vastly improved over my 2010. Plus the Sonata's best in class and the Genesis sedan is many thousands cheaper than any comprable luxury sedan. Hyundai's walking away with the whole thing.

  • @blackseries99

Hyundai/Kia are not going to kill the american car industry, the UAW already did.

  • @autoxerwgn hyundai and kia are gonna take it over

  • @blackseries99 GM deserve to go bankrupt

Look at what GM did to SAAB, Isuzu, Suzuki or Daewoo. Yes Korean Daewoo Motor, GM take it over while Hyundai ended up with Kia. Kia is happy within Hyundai group, while Daewoo… euh… Daewoo? Does Daewoo still exist? How in the world that could have happen under such good GM management? GM deserved to go bankrupt, and it will happen again in at the next recession, no matter how much financial help it sucks from government.

  • Wow that car look nice.. now this will be a serious foe to the Corolla and the aging Civic.

  • @LTF85199 civic will be changed in 2012 model yr. and corrola looks like crap as always

  • @saboobuu There have been teaser video out for what looks to be the next Civic, and personally, I really hated it. To me, they are going backwards in terms of exterior designs. Not sure if you have seen it. If you dig through some old articles in Autoblog, you will find it. Plain looking front, with the past Subaru Legacy(I think that's what it was called) back. Yuck..... Not a fan of ANY Japanese cars, but surely, Honda managed to mangle the current design which is far better than new.

  • @Grandam1999 i haven't but the camo they probly used was to prevent people from seeing the styling changes

  • this looks exactly like a ford focus (2011)

  • @saboobuu are you out of your mind?

  • @blackseries99 shit, i meant 2012

  • I think it looks like a Ford Fiesta. Imagine that; Hyundai "borrowed" the design of another car! Oh wait, they always do that.

  • @kqkrebs you cant borrow the design LOL, wat a dumbass. You will get caught if u do.

  • @hangene92 Current Sonata - Volkswagen CC. Old Sonata - Honda Accord. Current Elantra - Toyota Corolla. Genesis - Lexus LS. New Elantra - Ford Fiesta. They obviously can't steal the design, but they are heavily influenced by other cars.

  • @kqkrebs i think the genesis looks like the acura rl

  • @saboobuu yeah, i'd agree. from the side it does. from the front it's the LS 460.

  • Comment removed

  • @kqkrebs seriously? you are making ridiculous comparisons that nobody would agree.

  • @kaliuv really? i know tons of people that agree. you would have to be really nonobservant not to notice the striking similarities.

  • @kqkrebs most cars in the same category looks very similar. But I do see your point. I actually liked the previous Sonata and didn't like the old Accord. Hyundai managed to tweak it just right.

  • @kqkrebs yeahhh thats wat I was tryin to say, you cant steal the design, just pretty much similar. But w.e hyundai offers much more incentives and are much better priced than many other car industry.

  • @kqkrebs I've been watching Hyundai grow & evolve all my life now, considering that my mom has owned three of their vehicles by now. With each generation improving over the previous, I doubt that Hyundai is being influenced by the designs of other carmakers. Lastly, even if some of their designs were a tab too conservative aren't all automakers just replicating designs used by other automakers & throwing their logo on it. Just take the current Accord-looks like a Saturn from a certain angle.

  • @mes59 yeah im agreeing with you look at all these new cars they look like evry other car out there just like thoes box looking cars nissan kia scion all look alike and the honda fit toyota yaris and a few other cars from a year or two ago all basically have the same structure and design hyundai might take a few designs but even thoes dont look exactly like cars they were used from plus hyundai utalizes it very well unlike other car makers

  • @kqkrebs current elantra looks nuttin like the toyota corolla the corolla and camry are ugly as hell

  • @hangene92

copyrights only prevent direct replication, not imitations so basically, yea they can

  • Comment removed

  • my elantra is 11 years old lol
