About Roddick's game, I don't think his game has gotten any worse, there's just a lot of new players that have improved a lot. Look at who's above him--Nadal, Murray, Djoko, Del Potro, all young guns that were not around when he was #1. And then there's Fed who improved a ton right around the time Roddick got to #1. Hewitt on the other hand, he's been off his A game for a while now.

When players have an appealing personality they get more support which during tennis matches can have quite an effect.
Maybe if Murray just showed any other side of his personality than his ego (which is the only visable aspect) people would have more respect for him.

And I do agree that Nadal's game is more dependant on brute force than just skill, and he'll go through some rough times when the power goes away with age...

About Roddick's game, I don't think his game has gotten any worse, there's just a lot of new players that have improved a lot. Look at who's above him--Nadal, Murray, Djoko, Del Potro, all young guns that were not around when he was #1. And then there's Fed who improved a ton right around the time Roddick got to #1. Hewitt on the other hand, he's been off his A game for a while now.

I think he said "besides that it was fine (or fun)" because he was being sarcastic about the stupid question (What was it like for you at the end of that?) the journalist asked him. Honestly, who would respond "Oh yeah! I lost 4-6 0-6 2-6 in a grand slam semi-final in surely one of the most important matches of my life and I really really enjoyed the match very much.

I like how he answers a stupid question with a stupid answer, that gives the press a hint at how stupid their questions are at times. Maybe they might start actually think about decent things to ask him about before the interview. He makes me laugh, coz he says what I am thinking at times, I like Roddick, he is a dying breed, everyone else is just so NICE.

Didnt like him that much when he started, but since then my respect 4 him has been growing greatly, especially as a honest person and relentless grinder in the top 10 the last 4-5 yrs. Hes a great guy and tennisplayer, wud appreciate very much to meet him one day
