  • if that was the case... why are both sides lifting about the same, I'd understand if the torque was twisting the chassis and it was raising on one side... but both sides equally? That's not torque.

  • Well, after growing up at the drag strip, and being around it since I was able to walk, Ive seen it many time. A fully built racing car, at roughly 60mph/100kmh, the hood isnt going to spring up like that from wind. Its the body flexing.

  • Lmfao, that's going only 60?! Yeah, ok, and 2, have you ever put into factor that the hood is probably just the sheet metal without the base frame on it anymore? MANY racers do that just to save weight without buying carbon or any other lightweight material, and if that is the case here, this is completely plausible.

  • At the point of first flex, yes 60 mph give or take. As for the sheet metal comment, they still run a rigid frame on weight reduction hoods that are made of metal. Your arguing over flexing in a car during heavy acceleration, Its simple physics, but you may have no learned that yet in highschool.

    Its simple minded youth today that claim all this bullshit without really understanding the mechanics, so when someone that knows and has been around it states why its happening, dont argue it.

  • As for the orignal comment, about air being shoved under the hood, well there isnt a air intake inlet on the hood, the turbo's air intake is where the right headlight used to be. I do agree at higher speeds air can cause this, but during his 60foot? Unless its a 3-4 second car, its not really getting the speed it needs to lift a hood 2inches within the first 60ft.

    Im done with trying to help you understand this, look around, talk to some more people, maybe if we all correct you, you'll get it.

  • Also... last point, if made of just sheet metal, well then Thank you for supproting my point, less force to cause a flex then stock. Ever consider that maybe cause its got a full roll cage that now its a rigid frame, so therefor the "twist" flex isnt always seen, simply with a cage, suspension, and sub frames, you channel most of the twist into front to rear, which is what ALOT of racers want for better hook up.

  • Look up the Toyota Aristo, the MKIV Supra uses the engine from the Aristo. The Aristo is a 2JZ-GTE powered saloon car, seats 5 comfortably in VIP luxury....

    also supra's using the yamaha aluminium head.

  • Eh, the Aristo has a 2JZ-GTE, twin turbo engine in it. The onkly differences between it and the lump that you find in the Supra is the sump is different, the water pump is different and that's about it, no major differences like you're listing!

  • Wrong, there is no difference between the JDM Turbo's on the Aristo 2JZ-GTE and the the JDM Supra 2JZ-GTE. The only difference in turbo's is between US/UKDM and JDM, the US/UKDM aren't seramic.

    The head is also identical, the only differences are the ones I've listed. It's the same engine apart from two minor differences for it to fit in a difference shaped subframe......

  • I agree it doesnt have 1500hp it has about 1000. They arent stock tyres they are drag radials, not slicks but better then your average tyre.

    A supra weighs very similar to most of those old muscles. i have no clue what models the good ones but a 68 charger only weighs about 250lbs more then it. Your dreaming if you think an old shitbox is more comfortable then a modern car with climate control pwr everything ect.

  • there not my domestics yank, the japanese car rules vs the american car rules are too diferent to compare fairly the japanese makes agreed to ristrct there cars maximum output to 280 hp to make the market fair while american makers wer free with power outputs so natrually performance figures are diferent and dont say its fair from factory as yank cars are usually already tuned for a set amount of power while japanese cars like the r32 gtr are detuned from 500 hp to 280 to meet requirments

  • doing this will not always increase acceleration, first off there is only so much traction that the tyres will take, it will not increase HP to the back wheels as HP is torque over speed, lowering speed and increasing torque will give the same HP. Lowering the ratio will also mean possibly more gear changes and (depending on power delivery) unsuable short speed ranges in the gears.
