@Aztech355 because pre-2008...there was a gentlemen's agreement between all Japanese auto makes, states that for all domestic model that they make, they should stick within the 280hp/180km/h max speed limit...and i believe in the late 90s, the USDM 3.2L NSX were pulling some 290hp...
after 2008, where the R35 GTR made its debut, w/ it's 480+hp it clearly shows they no longer care/bonded with that 280hp/180km/h limit...
@Aztech355 if Senna's still around it might not discontinue this early...but let's face it, at that price range(approx 120000usd), there are quite a lot of supercar selection w/ more power and some cost less - ie, porsche 911, corvette, etc and even with the facelift done @ 2001/02, the changes weren't that significant and impressive...so even honda did put a lot of innovations n technology thru all these years, but w/ less power, that made the NSX losting its appeal against rivals
S zero is really great... but this is a comparison between the NA1 3.0 NSX-R and the 3.2 NA2 S Zero... if the R was the 3.2 NA2 the S Zero couldn't stand a chance...
Despite the NA2 R being faster , I still prefer the S Zero, just for the styling and that awesomeee steering wheel! Really gorgeous!
depends on what year u buy the NSX. 1991 NSX cost about $25,000 so just build up from there. If the GTR now is 6 speed manual ill prolly buy that instead... but they put this new shifter which really sucks ass
The S-Zero is pretty stripped out and lightweight like the NSX-R, but it is NA2 so incorporates those improvements. The suspension uses NSX-R springs and dampers, but the rear sway bar is the larger one from the Type-S so it is more tail happy. This makes it harder to put down power on corner exits, as they comment in the video.
3 peoples dicks are too small to own an NSX...

So whats the difference between S Zero and Type-R? They both look identical and look like they handle the same....
Lyndaporvida 1 year ago
@Lyndaporvida
basic differences are
- 1st gen NSX type R uses a 3.0L engine with 5speed gear box whereas S-zero using a 3.2L with 6 speed box
- if memory serves right type R is also lighter as well

My question is why did Honda choose to have under 300HP for the NSX?

Thanks for the info I'm disappointed that the NSX was discontinued. If Aryton Senna was still around it would have been even better.

Yup
The first NSX-R is 3.0 with 5spd(LIGHTEST of all NSXs)
NSX S Zero is 3.2 with 6spd(NO power steering, similar to the U.S. market Acura Zanardi Edition)

What is different about the Type-S Zero?

carmodfire the NSX-R in this vid is the NA1 version so it has the 3.0 not the same 3.2 in the S Zero
BluBros 2 years ago
oh. if it has the same amount of power as other cars, it wins cuz it handles so good.

ok. the R is slower on the straightaway..

The value in 200R, 130R etc is the radius of the corner in metres I think.
djrmonix 2 years ago
there was nothing in that the whole way, but watching that it seemed like the NSX-R was just a little more settled through corners.

How is it that the type R is slower in the straights despite the fact that it's lighter? Is it because of gearing?
franznsx 4 years ago
Combination of the NA2 NSX Type S-Zero 6MT and improved torque of larger C32B engine.
Whereas the NA1 NSX-R is 5MT and C30A powered.
Nice driving by Ohi after missing 3rd gear.
He really drove the wheels off the NSX-R.
Would have been good to see them swap machines.
MF301HA 4 years ago 2
It was an Na2? That all makes sense then....
franznsx 4 years ago
yep, NA2 type R does not have retractable headlights. NA1 Type R is a rear machine but S Zero is better overal car imho
