....someone who is practicing 20 or 30 years..knows when Wicca was around. It depends on your view of Wicca- If ur a Wiccan you should know that an open mind is what its about. If u can't find the info in the book..it's called the Contents and if u read the first and second page, called the, 'Preface' it explains how to find the info. also the back of the book has a list called an, 'index.' Quote, "most of her books should be for a dumb audience.." I'm a newbie..I got it. Why did u make this?
i am a beginner and iv read both books my opinion on each is there both awesome equal in different ways :O and true y not merry yule?!?!?!? i will agree book of shadows was harder to read but doesn't that make it better? :D
I have found my understanding with Wicca,I am new to this and I found this video very negative and confusing.I had planned on reading the BOS...I'm not sure what to do :(
everyone has there own views on wicca. not all of them are going to be the same. thats the beauty of wicca. btw if you are a true wiccan than why would you say merry christmas and not merry yule??
Scott Cunningham: A guide for the solitary practitioner. i'm getting next week lost it. and the book you was referring to was Wicca for beginners by Thea Sabin
You ar talking "true bullshit" sir, because you do not know anything about Wicca or Witchcraft. Wicca has been around since at least the 1700's. Paganism on the other hand, is the carrier of Wicca. Paganism and Wicca is the same thing. Basically, you are wrong in half of what your feeding to us. Wicca and Witchcraft are NOT the same thing. You are traditional, I can see. But you are screwing peoples minds up into believing in your lies. Witchcraft= practice. Wicca= religion. Get it straight.
I bought the book too thinking that maybe...just maybe... $RW may have changed since 11 years ago that I read her first book. Yeah, she's gotten worse. It sucks. And you're right...there are certain books that you buy and can't give away. I personally wouldn't want this to be the first book anyone read on Witchcraft or Wicca.
In my opinion people who judge are people who need to be judged, the Wiccan Rede says: live you must and let to live, in my view the 'let to live' part means that you let a person live in the manner of thier choosing, if Silver chooses to live her life teaching her point of view on Wicca and you and a lot of other narrow minded coveners judge her way of life instead of embracing her for being herself your actually going against the Rede and Wiccan teachings in general.
she meant wicca has been around not as a religion but as a state of mind and done in actions. so maybe you dont know how to properly clarify things in books.
BTW, recent evidence has come to light re: the existence and likely identities of the members of the New Forest Coven into which Gerald Gardner was Initiated; look for Philip Hesselton's two books. European scholars also accept that the Witch trials (ie. peasants) retained a belief/ practice in a form of I-E shamanistic Pagan survivalism [eg. Eva Pocs, Carlo Ginzburg, Claude Lecouteux, David Lederer, Gabor Klaniczey, Gustav Henningsen, Philip Walter, and an army of other respected Professors!].
hey bro., my top 3 fav. Pagan authors happen to be Laurie Cabot ("Power of the Witch" is very analytical and left-brained in its employment of Quantum mechanics); everything by Janet and Stewart Farrar; and Doreen Valiente (my personal hero!). Also, my FAV. book on herbal magick, which blows Cunningham's compendium out of the water, is Anna Franklin's tome, "Herb Craft". Also, I'm no fan of prof. Hutton's work on historical/ methodological grounds.
I have issues with Silver Ravenwolf because she makes sweeping generalizations and judgements about large groups of people. She has also made statements that are completely false. Some of them are very anti-Christian and seem to come from a place of anger. That being said, there are parts of her books that I really DO enjoy and find useful.
i dont think he is a good person to start wicca out with cause he has more of the tradtional side...and he uses the witchcaft and wicca to mean the same thing..well i got his video and it wasnet all so good...for a person just starting it might be alittle hard for them to pick at what he says
I agree with your message on this video. Im a teen wiccan and I bought the Solitary Witch book and it just made no sense to me because I was getting different information from the internet and such.
I have her Silver broom stick one too, its eaier but this solitary witch book was just horrible in my opinion.
Hey, I thought you were talking about the original book of shadows, which was derived from the Necronomicon. Look up John Todd, he talks about the originals connection with the Illuminati.
