  • I think Baz should have sung this - his voice is deeper like Paul Roberts was before he left the band.

  • Fair point about the outcome of Paul and John, but they have played their part in the amazing contribution the band has made to British/European music and culture. I'll stick to my view on Norfolk Coast though. Would have been fun if Dave Vanian had turned up to sing guest vocal on a version at the convention!

  • Agree with the view that Paul Roberts sang this really well. Critics should rember that Paul helped keep the band together after Hugh left. Without that, we may never have had Relentless, Norfolk Coast or Freedom is Insane!

  • @ I think the stranglers would have done quite well without him, songs written for him were sung well by him, it was just his poncing about that annoyed people, trying to make Hugh's songs 'his-own'. Pre-roberts era and they sound so tight, Hugh was part of that special sound. They are doing well with Baz and you can see Baz respects the solo's Hugh laid down and plays them note perfect. JJ said that 'Ellis & Roberts were trying to change The Stranglers and had to be stopped.'..

  • A classic track, but this is not right for JJ. Dave singing would be better. Come on lads. Give it a try in 2012.

  • Great sound!

  • just noticed a bit of synchronised funky moves with baz and jj, very impressive!! always thought john should have been a ballet dancer, the sweet man is so light on his feet and has wonderful elevation!!!

  • totally out of johns range. but hes still a gorgeous hunk !

  • JJ's not good at this one

  • great song and never really thought paul was right for the band, however john does no justice to this at all, completely out of his range. this is pauls song!

  • roberts was a twat, fucking great tour just finished, managed to catch 4 of the dates, best gig London Hammersmith Apollo.

  • Good riddance to Paul Roberts.

  • It's when you lsiten to versions like this that you realise just how good Paul Roberts was.

  • Equisite...as always, adore Stranglers,...keep the great live clips coming....Merci'

  • I think JJ's voice has softened over the years, Hugh even commented in his operatics... The rawness seems to have matured out of him.. It certainly needs Dave's phsycotic voice... FACEBOOK= DG to be new lead singer!!!

  • This is a classic track. I think Paul Roberts sings it far better than JJ, because it needs more drive and energy. Paul has a more dynamic range. Agree that Dave should try it. His manic style would add more verve to the vocal. Sorry JJ, but you don't do it justice.

  • JJ struggles with the vocal on this...Paul Roberts does a fine job on this...BUT Dave should be given a chance with this I think his voice would suit...

  • @FP51DPO ha i agree. id like to hear dave singing this one

  • @oblongfan1 I don't thing Dave could cope with singing and flying his space ship....

  • @FP51DPO im sure he could hes a master of flying his ship and singing . just listen to generix!

  • @FP51DPO Yes! I've never really thought of that... and it can't be that difficult because the really fast keyboard is sampled
