  • I agree that it was a dumb move to remove the screen. Even dumber one to admit that it was one of the 'most expensive' parts in the unit.

touch Sensitive? Without motorized faders what's the point? I know what button/fader/ rotary I'm touching...

Take out screen to add a touch switch system for missing screen (touch sens sounds better than 2 screens) remove hardware options to add 'specialised' automap software... Sounds like a bunch of marketing hype to me. Not to mention it is the pinkest!

  • are the faders motorized?

  • @dotcombatgames -]. I've seen LOADS of videos and (I may still be wrong) but I can honestly answer "nope" hehe .[-

  • I didn't know that idiots argued on youtubes of gear. That's rather troubling.

  • it's only £199 *buys

  • why not a long lcd and 18 faders..a big version of MKII for mixdown complete on hands...? :) i like this controler...

  • A total of 79 thumbs up for the guy who pissed all over America for no reason and then touted his superiority for being a millionaire (definitely fallaciously anyway)? It's one thing to defend yourself and another to come off as more of a jerk than the person against whom you're defending yourself. If you think you're so much better than the lowly losers making a mere five figures, at least get better at convincing people you are.

  • the salesman sounds drunk.

  • why dont they put the screen in in the middle?

or have no screeen at all to get the price down.

    That just looks confusing.

  • hi , would you be able to use this with lets say... fl studio ?

  • Are the faders motorized?

  • @cinemats No.

  • what si differense between mk2 sl and remote sl? looks like similar, but mk2 does more work, does it?

  • Nice like the SL MK . but no x-y controller and joyStick (just a cross fader)

hmmm combined with my triton that has a joystick and ribbon ...

The Zero Would Still be Nice

  • Would've love to see some more details in the video...

  • yhyh mines on its way woop woop

  • HI!

This device can control more than 8 tracks on ableton live? may be 16 or 32?? with all parameters? pan, solo, mute, arm, anything?

    THANKS!

  • Yes there are buttons to move through banks of 8 tracks.

  • at least it looks nice :)

  • novation products always had worse build quality than the CMF (chinese designed controllers)...get it right, british blokes!

  • compared to sl mk1 this seems like a step sideways rather than forwards because the rotarys gain led's but then the sliders and other controls completely lose their screen. As an sl61 mk1 user (with 2 screens) one of the most disturbing things for me is looking at the sl mk2 FAQ's page on Novations website and realising the top question is how to turn touch sensitivity of the controls (the only other difference over MK1) OFF!!??

I get the feeling that the mk2 is a cost cutting lemon....

  • i've had the same feeling. i myself own a zero sl mk1. works well so far, but imo they screwed up their automap system heaps

  • i agree completely they added a few great things led backlit buttons better drum pads led rings bigger faders but then screwed with alot of the functionality of it.

sort it out novation stop screwing with a once great formula or keep doing it so i can buy more old gear for cheap :D

    peace

    brian

  • j03tv: 9 WORDS: WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOUR READING COMPREHENSION? I NEVER said that I couldn't afford one.

I said, and I quote: "Shame that they removed one of the LCD screens, that was a COST CUT too far". Your profile says you're from the U.S. so you should know the meaning of the phrase "a cost cut too far", meaning they sacrificed too much to save some manufacturing money. They've admitted the screen was removed to save $, and pretty much every reviewer agrees that it was a step back.

  • And to address your (very) strange second point saying that "this costs more than you will ever be worth", that's a strange thing to say to someone you don't know. I'm actually a millionaire. That was completely uncalled for.

And surprise: I actually have TWO Remote 49 SL's in my studio. One MK1 and one MK2. I love the touch sensitivity of the MK2 model, which is why I got it. However, I, like most people, would have been happy to pay $10 more for a model with 2 LCDs like MK1 had...

  • @regularmagnolia Why would a millionaire be fucking around with high street affordable gear like Novation? And why would a millionaire be wasting time squabbling with other dicks on YouTube? Haven't you got money to spend or something more exciting to do?

  • @regularmagnolia

Christ, so he misunderstood you. Just explain the problem - no need for blood on the toilet paper.

  • How many screens do you need? The controller is so intuitive, you can see everything from the GUI and the "cheap" touch sensitivity means whatever row is touched is displayed on the screen, making the second screen redundant really.

  • Are the fades motorized?

  • That's the exaact question I was gonna ask. I think if they were, it would be the perfect controller.

  • they are not

  • (1) I have been test driving a Novation SL mk2 25 today at my local Digital Village store for over 3 hours (thanks DV!) with Reaper and Cubase 5. My impressions:

    CONS:

    - Build quality not great. The black (old) M-Audio Axiom, which I own, is made from better plastics.

    - Mod/pitch bend stick feels flimsy and spring makes noises at least on the one I tried.

    - 270º knobs too stiff, while the endless rotary pots feel just perfect.

  • any pros? automap any good?

  • I think it's a personal preference. Automap does work the way it is supposed to and it make it easy to map controls in Cubase. The only reason why I would buy the Novation SL is because Cubase makes it stupidly hard to map controllers. However other software such as REAPER, Reason, Live and Sonar have pretty good built-in MIDI-learn capabilities which are enough for me. However for a live gig you might benefit from Automap. Personally I found the hardware to be flimsy.

  • the sl drum pads suck balls.

i hope they fixed them now.

  • they are horrible, yeah

  • are you sure the drum pads are better ? its not the same thing on sl ?

  • can i use this with komplete 5 and kore 2 like the controller of kore? also can i control the intruments and mixer of logic pro 8 ?

  • can't wait till they figure out we want 3 vertical knobs for an eq setup to dj with... maybe 2010. Or not. Lame.

  • if u dj get another device.

  • Ok .

  • This looks nice. I think it would compliment Live well. I would need to see how the pads feel though.

  • Comment removed
