  • Klasse!

  • Gives me the chills!

  • Original title in Polish "Tango Milonga".

  • Magnifique, ce tango!

  • Oh wie herrlich!!!!

  • I think that ' the lady ' shown at 1.54 might not be a lady....check the feet.

    Great music. Thanks.

Ps; what became of Josefsterkens ? I was a fan.

  • Wonderful music, wonderful video, wonderful photograph from about 1:10 to 1:40

  • I love this. Could you please tell me if you know a CD containing this song. Thanks.

  • Oh, Donna Clara,

    ich hab dich tanzen gesehn,

    und deine Schönheit hat mich

    tollgemacht.

  • This is a nice surprise

  • Your photographs perfectly capture an era that produced elegant and hauntingly beautiful melodies. The icing on the cake is the vocal refrain by Marcel Wittrisch, one of my favorite tenors. THANK YOU for this posting.

  • Simply lovely. Thank you so much.

  • As a writer and editor who spends huge amounts of time at the computer, I now usually keep You Tube rolling as I work. And of all the music I listen to, mostly from the 1920s and 30s, this piece by Marek Weber gets played as much or more than anything else. I know that the tango was supposedly a Argentinean invention [my Uruguayan friends dispute that] but I think the tango really flowered in Eastern Europe and nowhere more than Poland.

  • in uruguay we have tangos and milongas since 186... do you have registers of poland´s tangos before this date? please send us, is a important notice for investigators in montevideo.

    sincerelly yours

    marcelo

  • @barzelli Since 186? AD or BC ?

  • and the polska flowered in Buenos Aires

  • schöner alter Schlager!

  • Najsynniejszy w swiecie przeboj/piosenka skomponowana przez Polaka! Czyli Tango Milonga...

  • Lovely, thank you so much, you have made an old man vey happy.

  • What a fine recording!! Sounds like a tape, not a shallac master, but I don't think tape was used as early as 1930.

  • Tenor is MARCEL WITTRISCH, tenor from the Staatsoper Berlin

  • A delicious slice of yesteryear. Very appealing melody. Good sound, too. FIVE STARS.

  • Wer singt den Titel?

    Who is the singer?

  • One of my favorite tangos of all time. Wunderschoen. Viva Petersburski! Please, please, an old Polish version if you have... you know "Tango milonga, tango mych marzen i snow..."

  • Danke schön.

It would be my pleasure to meet you in Berlin, Friedrichstrasse, for a glass of Kupferberg Gold. :)

  • Marek Weber must have had an international following based on the number of his records I have found in this country (USA). Great sound for 1930.

  • That illuminated advertising by Kupferberg was located in Berlin Friedrichstraße. It was built in 1912 and consisted of 2600 light bulbs.

Kupferberg was founded in 1850 and does still exists.

  • Berlin of the 1930's looked "SEHR" alluring at night and now my tango shoes are demanding that I take them there. They are practicing their UMLAUTS! :) And I could really go for a glass of that Kupferberg Gold... Love this tango sung in German. :)

  • Vigorous version of this familiar melody, along with some great views of Berlin, esp. those "patent leather" rain-soaked streets at the beginning. Is the treble effect from the recording or his singing style?

  • Very nice photos. Interesting number. I don't know much about the history of tango. It is from Argentina, correct?
