The definition of conservatism is "the disposition to preserve or restore what is established and TRADITIONAL and to LIMIT CHANGE" and slavery was a traditional practice amidst the southern states meaning that slavery was a conservative practice. It's no mystery that the most conservative part of the country is the south. Sorry if you don't like facts.
