based on one of the VR terminals I think that Jack escaped from the Cerberus program before Acension, because the guy on the terminal mentioned "piggy backing" on the Acension program which was by the Alliance.

@proganster tech armor is a last reserve to fully restore your shields when your on the verge of death its kinda last shield boost like on ME1
