Just saw Soundgarden the other night in Chicago and it blows this performance outta the water. They function so well together now, Cornell's voice sounds great, and they are all wiser now.
whoever captured the sound or set up the systems did it wrong... this sounds just terrible compared to studio versions, I can hardly hear the guitars...
thats quite funny, my littel brother was born in the night from the 15. to the 16. april 1990. now he is twentee years old. but i thing the guitar is not loud enought in this vid.
i bet my brother and my mother dont care about the guitar from soundgarden in that night.
@12Daze bizarre.. when i came back to comment on the page, it played the correct video; the first time it was footage of that tadgarden show.. must have been a fucked connection.
hey this is the day i was born! i was taken by surprise when i saw the date haha. i'm so glad that i was at least alive for badmotorfinger, even though i was 1 haha
this is great! wow, just before it all spilled over into the mainstream! very nice! They had no idea what to do with bands like SG then...putting them on tour with the likes of Guns and Roses etc... lol
I think Nirvana is way overrated. I still like their music a lot, but Soundgarden was just better... Chris Cornell's voice is godly, and his lyrics are some of my favorites. Like every tune is in an alternate tuning and/or has some odd time riff, and their tunes, especially off of Superunknown and Down on the Upside are just so diverse, every song sounds different from the others. I can't really say the same for Nirvana, I'd say AIC was better than them too, matter of opinion of course.
grunge is a fucking label, but as a music genere grunge isn't exist. ... the bands who were involved in this grunge crap don't like the name ... and come on!! you can't compare Soundgarden's music with STP or Alice In Chains's tunes w/ Sonic Youth ....
Soundgarden is a great band and that's it! NO LABELS PLEASE!!
At finally someone gets it, a label is just one more thing to draw away talent and credit from the artist. When someone makes a good song, that's what I call it I don't give a damn about the genre or the style or any of that bs!
When people get awards at those silly gatherings they aren't really awarding the (supposed) artist they are just promoting the genre to increase sales at some store somewhere.
ok! maybe you are labeled too "moron" ... if want to be a conformist go on and simply obbey! ... but if you are interested on think a little just compare the bands you named GRUNGE ... ahm!! and go fuck yourself "junior brain"
a good one there ... but you know you are wrong especially if you believe all that grunge label shit! ... Eddie Vedder for sure would like to put a kick in you dummy ass for say that ... bye grunge labeled duchebag ... good luck!
elerickkoo.. listen. you must be 15 at the most. dont try to study up on subgenres and say "these are the 3 godfathers of [insert genre]" its a waste of time. i used to be like that.. "no man, vh1 and wikipedia says these guys started it all, and theyre the best in the scene, you dont know shit." all bands make music, and may be influenced by earlier bands, but in a scene the bands arent competing.. fuck, if anything theyre all on one team. by the way if youre gonna categorize dont go with vh1
Chris sounds different younger than he does older. He doesn't have that rough voice that he usually does, like in the song say hello 2 heaven, and he did that song a year after this.
mudhoney, love battery, L7, hole, babes in toyland, seven years bitch, The melvins, mad season, tad, green river, candlebox, stone temple pilots... Who the hell put those band in this category? and why? grunge is just a word that explore something doesn't meant if they play grunge right..?
I totally agree with you, grunge is just a word. It may be a word to categorize but the music is another dimension to a simple name. But some people think that the word grunge was a shield ...Sebastiano.
grunge is a word people used to describe the sudden rock rise in the late 80s. It's not a music genre, all of those bands are completely different form each other.
agreed. imo the only thing those grunge bands had in common was intensity and rawness. some took influence from punk, and some from metal, and some from classic rock.
you can argue the same thing with respect to the term "punk"; it originally was the name of a NYC 'zine which focused on the Ramones, the Dictators, the Stooges and the Velvet Underground. The founders of the 'zine named "punk" said when "punk rockers" came to the fore, it was ironically the death of the original movement and very, very un-punk. Elitism, maybe, but quite correct.
All genres are given a name because the media can't write about music without giving it a label. It's usually a generalization and the longer people use the term, the more of a blanket it becomes. From what I've observed, the thing that unites all the bands of the "grunge" era is they were the first mainstream bands that expressed emotions of rage, cynicism, despair and boredom through music. When these bands took over, it was like all of the excesses of the 1980's came tumbling down.
he looks tall sumtimes but i saw a picture of him standing on a skateboard and he looks really small.lol. but in person i'm pretty sure he's over 6 feet
@onlytheawesomest trust me in real life he's quite tall.. seen him perform several times ..he's like this force that comes at ya and all you can do in just be in awe !! really haha ..
